Im guessing people think we are going to get pick 16 for Gumbleton? If thats the case im more than happy to let him go for that pick. I think its overs.

However the latest coming out of perth is that fremantle arent keen and that he is most likely to keep loyal with essendon although melbourne are pressing hard especially if they cant get Dawes.

They have pick 20 now from memory. The problem with Melbourne is they could get him to walk if we dont accept their offer which i doubt would be pick 20 first up. So we may have our backs against the wall.

Would love Ben Jacobs. Rated him the 4th best player in the draft and love the moevement to classy half backs who can use the footy well (hes yet to do that at AFL level but his kick was considered elite as a junior so more his decision making is a problem which will improve as he gains more experience) - we potentially could be building a similar list to hawthorn with the left footers and skillful users. For me id be pretty happy to give up pick 20 for Jacobs considering he wants home.

Are Adelaide keen on Pears? interesting

Why do people want to trade Gumby for Jacobs? Jacobs has shown nothing at AFL level, whereas Gumby's shown glimpses and plays a much more important position.

Crazy stuff.

Gumbleton wants to leave, fact is we are going to have to accept this, if he wanted to stay he would have signed the deal. Jacobs is an elite kick of the ball, suits our team well.

very happy to trade gumbleton for pick 16 (as I feel we have sufficient KPF hurley/crameri/Daniher/Ryder), not so sure about ben jacobs, the kid may have talent but who is he going to push out of our side? not heppell/dempsey/hibberd/goddard who will all be competing for hb flank positions

Lets assume Heppell and Goddard are midfielders...then there is a couple of positions.

i really like heppells decision making and goddards elite kicking of hb flank (occasionally rotating through the middle)...in any case we have watson/zahak/howlett/hocking/myers/stanton in the middle...is there room?

Yes, I am sure you have heard the term- ROTATIONS, we need more class in the middle, Heppell was drafted as a mid, Goddard was recruited as one. The one you have left off is Browne though. There is enough room in the midfield for Hepp and BJ.

Pigeon holing players into certain positions is the worst thing you can do. Jacobs can play as a back pocket, can play on a half forward flank whether that be rotating into midfield or not. Can play as a wingman or play as a rotating midfielder off the bench. Heppell and Goddard can also play these positions (minus the back pocket + the starting onball position).

Jacobs could be a really good player. Dempsey isnt going to be around for ever and hes hardly the most durable.

If we got pick 16 or 20 its hard to say whether id prefer to use it in the draft or use it to get Jacobs. I think id prefer Jacobs because all of a sudden with Goddard + Jacobs + potentially another good player ready made next year (Sylvia or something) we could certainly be in the chase in 2014 and that extra 2-3 years development would mean hed have completed his 5th preseason by than and be ready to have a real impact on the game if he continues to develop.

If we get Sylvia I'll lose it, good player but he is an absolute headcase and I don't want our future leaders being subjected to that. If we got pick 20 or 16 then I'd prefer to go after Jacobs but then again it is TEMPTING to see whether my no1 slier (Stringer) is there at 16...

I'd actually love Sylvia, he could be a huge coup.
Has elite potential, could need a change of scenery, just seems frustrated.
I know he's had off-field issues, but I think he could be a really good player, just entering his prime too.

Yuck, I just cannot see Sylvia changing, at the end of the day he isn't young.

Neither is Goddard, Sylvia wouldn't cost much either.
I honestly think a change in club is all he needs to turn it around.
