Or you could take players like Jack Redden, Luke Shuey, Dayne Beams or Jackson Trengove.
Had me til the last name. Jackson Trengove is absolutely hopeless, has no intensity in the contest, gets pushed off the ball easily - if he played for the MFC you would absolutely hate him. Certified spud.

People have got to stop looking at where a player was drafted.
I'll Give up 13 and Petterd for Caddy and Toy
lol..... Caddy and Toy have shown shit all (Toy especially). Would not trade 13 for them, let alone 13 + Petterd.

Here is some info I have come across that may be of interest:

Lynden Dunn will be offered a new 2 year deal.

Steph Martin will be traded, he wants to go and Neeld doesn't want him. Collingwood extremely keen to get him in the 'Leigh Brown' role.

Bate and Bennell to be delisted.

Petterd to be offered for trade with a couple of interested parties including the GC, but will be delisted if nothing is offered. He missed a recovery session after a Casey game a couple of weeks ago but his cards were marked over a month ago due to poor attitude and Neeld not liking him.

This same source may have confirmed last week that Cook would be delisted so I have no reason to doubt any of it. It's nothing ground breaking but interesting about Martin and Dunn. Anyway lads, all the best!

The Martin rumor, if true, would fit well with Spencer getting such a good run in the back half of the year. Dissapointing if true, but he's another Demons player who was terrible, showed glimpses, and then seemed to drop away a bit (injuries aside).

I dont agree. good set shot, very athletic with a strong grab Needs to be taught a little more & an extra 5-6 kgs to his frame and could be used as a permanant CHF with Gawn & Russian permanant rucks. I just think Neeld is throwing the baby out with the bath water too quickly with Stef, Gys & Lucas Cook. The rest, we'll they've had there chances.
I agree re: Martin and Gys, not sold on Cook though. That said, I dunno that they'll be giving Gys or Stef away cheap; it'd take a decent trade to make it happen. Cook however seems to have gone nowhere really. Don't doubt that he has some skills, but dunno that we'll be able to see it at AFL level. Maybe the expectations I have of a 1st rounder are too high, but even so, struggling to get consistent games or showing solid form in the VFL isn't a good sign.

Stef is not a good set shot. And he probably has the worst brain fades of anyone on our list. Some of the stupid shit he does absolutely astounds me.

It all depends I think on what the club has in store for Mr Watts.

If Jackie boy is going to be a CHF then I say bypass Grundy and look at Stringer at P13, knowing that if he can't get back into the midfield he will still be able to play the aggressive 3rd tall roll Darling plays at WCE.

I'm coming around to wanting:
Toumpas, Stringer, Kennedy and Viney as a first preference or Wines, Grundy, Kennedy and Viney if Toumpas goes at P2, which now seems most likely.

Grundy wouldn't play as a CHF though.

Having a ruckman who can rest as a mobile forward (basically a third key tall over 195) is huge in the modern game and will be huge in Neelds game plan IMO; he loves 'versatility'.

A forward line with - Clark, Watts, Howe and a resting Grundy would be very difficult to match up on.

My dream draft at the moment.

3 - Grundy
4 - Wines
13 - Stringer
26 - Viney

You might say that none of those guys brings considerable pace to our line-up but they're all natural footballers - bar Grundy who, as all rucks do, has a lot to learn.

Obviously that forward line won't happen, Watts has cemented himself as a loose man in defence apparently.

We're screwed in regards to using a 2nd round pick on Viney will be forced use pick 3, I think Viney not playing in the VFL was a last resort for Melbourne trying to "hide" him.

Heard Harrington on SEN saying that they activated the compo picks to use as trade bait, that was their first preference but if there were no viable trades then obviously go to draft. I don't think we'll use all picks, though I was really hoping Boak would b available

I'd like to see one used on Kennedy plus whatever player gets the trade done. Goddard via free agency for obvious reasons, and then Pearce through F/A as well, as he'd work nicely running off Kennedy/Viney/Gysberts. I still reckon Petterd for Banfield is a win/win, and the 2013 team starts to look pretty good. If there's a need for another mid then have a serious look at Koby Stevens. There's no shame in not getting a gig in that midfield, take Bennell/Jetta for him.

Haven't seen young Grundy play yet, so what makes him so highly touted?

All I have read is he a gun ruckmen, who can rest up forward.

Also, I am optimistically hoping for a massive change on our list next year. Hopefully Pearce, Monfries and Byrnes through free agency, guns from p3&4 with 13 traded for a ready made player and 26 on Viney.

not a fan of Toumpas or believe gc will get him? not too sure about Garlett, heard there's some attitude problems
Yeah, think he's off to GC myself.

Garlett is just too good to pass up, time to back ourselves and get him into the environment.

I was under the impression he's more of a small forward than a midfielder, and with the chance of us picking up monfries, byrnes and pearce, i dont know if he's the right option.

By the way did anyone else read the Grimes interview on the AFL site? This quote seemed quite telling:
"It is going to be a shock to a lot of people I think. It's not for everyone and lot of guys won't be there for the whole ride - a lot of the boys will - but it is fair to say there is still a fair bit that has to change, but we are so confident it will."
Maybe I'm reading between the lines but it sounds like Grimes hasn't been too happy with a lot of the players and fully backs Neeld to purge as much of the list as necessary. Makes a lot of sense why he was picked as one of the co-captains, brilliant attitude.

Anyone know what Neeld said during the VFL game about Cook and Gysberts?

All I heard was that he was furious at the Hun for running the article and that any more list changes wouldn't be announced until after Casey finished their finals series.

Neeld was just on SEN. He said that everyone is having a laugh at the regular trade/delist stories being printed by the Herald Sun. Here's a summary of the players discussed:

Moloney - Mutually agreed that he will be leaving the club. No issue with his training ethics. Neeld wants a greater spread of midfielders which is why Trengove and Grimes were played in the middle. He explained that the way we play had to stand up in finals. Neeld didn't criticise Moloney at all.

Davey - Not retiring. Was at the club last doing bike work to get himself right for the preseason.

Rivers - In contract negotiations with his manager. Money/contract will not be a stumbling block. Rivers will decide whether he'll seek immediate onfield success at another club. MFC won't be bitter if he choses to leave. My gut feeling after listening is that he'll go.

Jurrah - The number of issues that he has at the moment, including a pregnant partner, meant the the club has sympathy with Jurrah wanting to live in Adelaide. Neeld said that there were other issues that Jurrah couldn't divulge. Not sure if he'll play AFL again.

Captains - Discussed the selection process, and there were 8 criteria that the players were voted on. Age/playing experience was not one of them. Has been really happy with their leadership. Refuted David King's suggestion that Trengove's form had dropped off, and alluded that he'll do well in the b & f.

Can anyone see any other rookies than Nicho being elevated to the senior list?

I doubt it. While Magner was serviceable I don't think he was anything more than a stop-gap type midfielder while Neeld develops and gets in the players who will really take us forward. Same with Couch. I think Nicholson has more to offer than those two, even if he can't kick, and should get a gig on the main list.
