Grimey came second in the B&F on the back of a season in midfield so no worries there.

At the moment; this is us.

C: Grimes-McKenzie-Sylvia
R: Jamar-Jones-Trengove
I: Viney

Not the worst going around, should Trenners decide to explode.

Yeah that's not too bad in terms of quality, but in terms of quantity its nowhere near the mark. Who is in the next group of mids?

Pretty much...**** all.

Gysberts, Bate, Morton, Bail, Evans, Magner, Couch.

Taggert is a kid who could become something though, explosive young winger.

Thats a massive worry, when you think of teams like West Coast who roll with 9-10 quality mids and know that is the level you need to get to.

There is no doubt that we have a weak midfield at the minute but when you are near the bottom its hard to fix your problems in 1 hit, I think we have plenty of option in KPP now which is good cause there the harder players to find.

Midfielders are normally easy to get cause there are so many of them so with Viney and pick 4 likely to be a mid thats an ok start, and then Next season try and get a couple more and hopefully some of our younger players can step up in the next few years.

I think it's harsh to pile Bail and probably Magner into that category. They were good this year.

The current issue with our midfield, on top of the plummet from our best four as mentioned, is that I don't think we've seen a game where all four have performed. No slight on Jones or Grimes, but often too much is left to too few.

I'd like to see Blease play on a wing, and you can add Howe to the midfield rotation.

Personally, I think that McKenzie starting in the centre is a liability. He's not a tagger like Crowley, Kirk or Ling who could all win their own ball. IMO, we're basically one short at centre bounces.

How many taggers are?

I don't rate McKenzie that highly offensively, so I faintly agree, but his stopping ability's great.

I don't mind McKenzie playing as a tagger, but I wouldn't start him in the centre square. IMO it's almost like conceding that your 4 centre square players can't beat the opposition in a clearance.

I doubt Geelong, Sydney and Fremantle were/are conceding that...

Very surprised to read about Sheahan if its true.

Can you even delist a rookie after 1 year - I thought they got 2 years?
Rookies are only ever on one year deals, they can be signed back up after each year and be on the rookie list for a maximum of 3 years. If Sheahan has been delisted he obviously didn't impress the coaching staff to reward him with another year.

do people really think Bail had a good year? Thought he went backwards massively this year

Ok thanks Blackas - I thought rookies got 2 year contracts.

Surprised with Sheahan I must say. I presume Williams will also be a gonner!

I've figured it out guys - the AFL are cutting the Rookie list down from 6 to 4 players.

Maybe Jai's just an unfortunate by product of that move.

Was just about to post this

With the reduced list back to 4 rookies, there will be casualties.

With Lawrence and (reportedly) Sheahan gone, we may promote Magner and Nicho, leaving Williams and Evans on the list and bringing 2 rookies in

Or, if as reported, Bailey had an agreement with Nicho and Evans, those two will be elevated, Magner will be our nominated Rookie and we'll bring 2 in

Surely Evans won't be promoted. He got 2 games in 2011 in the middle of an injury/suspension crisis of epic proportions and since then has not fired a shot. He performed admirably in those two games, sure, but was soon pushed out by better midfielders (strange as that sounds). He then spent most of this year trying to overcome chronic injuries (back mostly?).

Rookies don't just get promoted for the hell of it, they need to show something. Reality is that Evans, for whatever reason, hasn't showed anything since his two games last year. Footy's a harsh business, but the fact is he'll be very lucky to get a third rookie year.

Viney, what is this 'reported agreement' with those two players? Haven't heard anything about that, and you'd think it would be null and void given that Bailey is now long gone. In any case, if I were Magner and saw Evans - with 15 less games, to say the least - get promoted ahead of me, I would be spitting chips and questioning the sanity of Tim Harrington.

Nicholson is a certainty to be elevated, Magner a possibility depending on how many are cut from the Senior List.

From what I read (and in all honesty I cannot remember where it was), much like Daw had an assurance from North to be elevated, so did Evans and Nicholson at the end of 2012 from Bailey

If it's a contracted agreement, then of course it would still apply even though Bailey is gone.

I mean, it's not like every listed players contracts get voided once a new coach comes in

Hmmm ok then, that's interesting. Sounds like pretty terrible list management in hindsight given how the year has panned out for Evans. Will be interesting to see what happens there.

With Rodan coming on board we now officially have to boot at least 3 more senior players.

Minimum 2 more draft spaces required (either live pick or rookie upgrade) and to cover the current deficit of 1 (players in vs players out - see OP).

If we're picking up players of the calibre of Rodan you've gotta wonder about the likelihood of us getting the odd delisted FA as well.

Nothing surprising /ground breaking but deal has been agreed upon and Jordy will be traded tomorrow.

Awesome.

Hoping brains trust have agreed on more than Myke Cook and a packet of chicken twisties, but you never know.
