Are you actually going to get a guy who's got a locked in spot? I just can't see a guy like Ben Reid moving, when he's basically got it all in front of him at the Pies.Yep May of course, that is still a little thin though given the injury troubles of a few of them. Any best 22 key backmen at other clubs we could target? Ideas?

Will you actually have a big wad of salary cap space, though? Doesn't seem to be too many seniors (Fraser about it?) moving on; and the likes of Prestia/Gorringe/Swallow/Caddy won't be getting any cheaper.I think Reid would be the best one we could target, and who knows? He might be forced out if we can offer the right amount of coin. He'll be signing after Cloke and Beams, after all.
Dawson must have photos! After that I would like Silvagni at Freo, for sure. Not sure how he's been pushed out by Dawson, as I certainly rate Silvagni higher, but not complaining here.![]()

Do you think the Suns would be interested in Jack Watts from the Dees?
What would you offer as a trade for Reid?I think Reid would be the best one we could target, and who knows? He might be forced out if we can offer the right amount of coin. He'll be signing after Cloke and Beams, after all.

As he isn't any type of Free agent...
We don't want anything, we love him. lolNot sure to be honest. I don't see enough Pies games to really judge what his worth. What would a Pies fan want for him? Caddy, Toy + 2nd rounder likely available.
I think targetting young players from Collingwood is the wrong idea, especially being the form they're in and where we are on the ladder. There's almost no interest for a guy like Reid who has a big career ahead of him in his home state (i believe).
When you look at it, short term we need experience, not youngsters like Reid and Beams. Reid debuted in the same year as Danny Stanley, back in 07. Takes time to develop. Whilst Silvagni would be a good long term prospect, getting wins on the board in the next year or two will require older footy brains.
Based on our team vs west coast and gws's team vs sydney last week, when comparing the two they had us covered in terms of experience through games played. Yes, we have injuries, and other teams have more experienced depth to provide cover, but without depth we seem like we aren't a year ahead of GWS.
While I'm sure we would love Beams and Reid on our side, realistically it isn't going to happen and it wouldn't be the right move. Even with our form, I think it'll be a struggle to attract even experienced fringe players from top 8 teams. I hope I'm wrong but perhaps the free-agency is the way to go.

Am I the only one who wants caddy to leave?
Its hard to know what to do as dropping him may affect his market value and to some degree we should take the high road and play our best team each week. If he still wants to leave an organisation theat has,I'd prefer he didn't but I am getting frustrated giving time to a player that may in all likelihood leave us.

Drafted him
Tried to meet his needs in going home (without getting screwed)
Given him extended time at each Melbourne game to be with his family
Embraced him after the deal failed even though the Dad illness thing was vastly exaggerated
Respect his wishes to delay the negotiations and still allow him to play
well then I am not sure that he is a good fit for the culture we are trying to build anyway.

I imagine you are? But I think the disgruntledness is from the uncertainty. It's not uncommon for players to wait till end of the season, just with the twisted media distorting, and bigfooty saturation of the last 10-15 years ever increasing, it effects supporters and members even more.Am I the only one who wants caddy to leave?
