So this means, at the very least, we still need to remove at least one player.

Nichols, Hine, Toy, Hutchins & Wilko are the only ones remaining out of contract. And Ashcroft has said we would like to keep both Hine and Toy.

Which leaves Nichols, Hutchins & Wilko sort of floating there. Though if Hine goes which he might, or if both he and Toy goes, could free up space for all three to stay.
Wilkinson, for mine.
Nicholls is somewhat important if Hickey's gone.
Hutchins has upside.
And Hine>Wilksinson for my money.

There's another option though, that I'm not sure you've considered: Toy delisted then rookied.
I don't think any clubs would jump at him - GC were sounding quite a few clubs out a few months ago and there wasn't a lot of attention for him, so I think he'd get through no problems.

Take the deal while Toy still has value. Even if we only get a dozen games worse case scenario out of Gilham and his dodgey knee next season, he will still provide leadership on and off the field for the kids. Toy wants to be in Victoria, Caddy MkII.

You high?

Wilkinson is a born an bred gold coaster and arguably the best athlete at the club. A lock in the list for years to come.

He also has next to no footballing skills. Heart in my mouth every time he has the ball. He's only been playing the game a few years though, so you'd hope he'll develop those skills with time if he's kept on the list.

Agree, Wilko's a supreme athlete, but that doesn't necessarily equate to being good at AFL level. Uses his athleticism with great effect at NEAFL level, but always looks exposed at AFL level with his lack of smarts. Looks uncomfortable and nervous when he takes a mark, unsure of what to do.

QLD U18 captain Wilko was. Shows he has football ability and leadership, not just athleticm.

Give him time...Would be happy to see Hine/Hutchins leave for VIC clubs also.

Think it is a bit hard to tell whether Wilko will improve his footy wits quick enough for him to be worth keeping. No one here could really make a solid judgement.

I would be happy to keep him and not devastated if he were delisted.

And? None of those guys struggled like Wilkinson has.
U18 form means zip-all, his AFL form has been ordinary.

Just from last year, Tassie's captain and All Australian rover John Mckenzie wasn't drafted, nor was Mihocek who was named CHB. So I'd have to agree that under 18s form means very little to players outside the big 3 states. It is easier to stand out in weaker teams.

Wilkinson was selected on the back of his incredible athleticism, in the hope that he would pick up the skills that he is deficient in.

To be honest, if Wilkinson was taking a senior spot on our list which meant we couldn't draft zone picks Boston or Bourke I would be pissed. If not on-traded Boston is a must for mine, and even though we have young mids already, Boston or even Bourke would be a very handy plan B players should something happen to our current A grade kids whether it be injury/homesickness/poached by other clubs. Worse case scenario, they too would be great trade bait over the next few years while our list continues to decrease. This is our last season of zone picks, use em!

Also plenty of kids (Fortunato Caruso anyone?) from the stronger states who just don't make the step up. It's like being the cool kid in school, and working at Coles all your life. Still cool? No, you work at Coles. No-one cares what you did in school (or U18s).

Wow, whats with all the Wilkinson hate? I used to play tennis with Joel back in our high school days and I can assure you he is a very hard worker and is naturally gifted. He can run all day long and possess physical attributes and potential that a lot of footballers would dream of. Does anyone remember the hate that was bestowed on Seb Tape early in his career? Look what happened over time, he found his feet and became a worthy defender by AFL standard. Wilko is in a similar boat, he has been playing on the defensive end majority of the time. Not to mention the shameful act that Sherman committed in his first AFL game!

Joel earned his spot this season in the seniors and only lost it due to injury. Lets keep in mind Joel has only been playing club footy since 2009 and is still learning the game. Karmichael Hunt would be able to tell you there is no tougher position to learn the game than down back and clearly Joel is struggling in that sense. You must give him time, the guy is so talented it is scary.

Also lets clear this up, although there are several sources that state Joel was born in Nigeria he was actually born in Sydney and moved to the Gold Coast when he was four years old. Joel deserves his spot on the senior list nd I would be extremely disappointed if he were deemed not to be in the top 39 of the currently listed.

Probably because he was born in Sydney :D

Can someone please pot the Ins & Outs so far for the Suns (players that is). My Mrs supports them and would like to know.

Also if the suns get Broughton or another mature player via delisted FA....how many more have to come off your list to get it to 42?
