That's surprising, since he's part of the Suns Academy? I would have thought we could get him quite easily that way.
might have been last year. the academy isn't that old, is it?
but yeah, since he's in our academy now, reckon there's a good posibility we'd pick him up.

BTW don't know where else to post this but the column on the GC's list by the Herald Sun just shows that they have f'n idea about us. Seems to have done little to no research or watched any Suns game. I think our list is doing fine, next year, injury free hopefully we make a decent run and aim for 8 or so wins.

Please, we would've been shafted if we gave you Hooker + 19 for Caddy.
I find it quite ironic that GC Suns will reportedly be looking for a KPD in exchange for Caddy.
In hindsight, GC should have taken Hooker + 19.
All Caddy has done is increase his value this year.
Amusing that you think we should have traded him for a guy who will always be remembered for his dismal chase on Buddy.

He has excelled, easily our best defender and close to coming in to AA discussions.
You talk about running down Lance Franklin as if it's trying to chase down Lockett or Gherig, or do you also think McPharlin is a bad player because he couldn't run down Crameri on Saturday night?

If essendons serious about getting Caddy they'll have to give something up, hooker won't do and they don't have a pick in the first round.

Hooker should be plenty based on what has been shown. But Gold Coast in a bid to make a point to the league, turned that down last year and Hooker has kicked on to reach new heights.
No way in hell we'd trade Carlisle.
Pears possibly, but that's about it when talking about KPD.
Yeeah i agree Carlisle has really come on this year looks like being an A grader very soon, just think Gold Coast should target him. Not sure that either Hooker or Pears is worth Caddy, Hooker has had a good year but his hamstrings will always be a worry.
I think most likely if Essendon do go for Caddy and/or Toy it will be in a three way trade involving Bellchambers going to GWS.

There is simply no way he can get to Essendon based on what they can offer and what we want through a one on one. At least one more club would have to be involved. They dont have the picks or arent willing to give up the player, which is fair enough on their end. A fringe backman and a second rounder isnt enough.
Just what we need a hooker with a drinking problem.

I'd like to see Jolly get a good month in the senior side soon. He has good potential and can push his claim that he belongs at Afl level either with us or upping his trade value. I'd say Port would take him in a heart beat given he was highly rated junior and a local. Could make a great depth player and playing at SANFL level which might help him develop consistency.
I know Andrew Hamilton is not widely respected in these parts, but I think he's probably pretty close to the mark in that article.
Stanley & Iles are unlikely to attract much attention from other clubs & should re-sign with the Suns, but Caddy, Dixon & Hickey would attract interest. We do have lots of ruckmen & we've probably stockpiled them with a view to trading. Fraser should retire. No other AFL club would want him. Tom Nicholls may be given a chance by another club, but I doubt they'd give us much for him. Dixon & Hickey have both shown quite a bit this year & Gorringe looks a likely prospect. I would expect a few clubs would be interested in trading for any of those 3, so we may trade one of them. They won't be dumped, but may go if we're offered a good trade.
Moss & Jolly look likely delistees at this stage & I doubt anyone would trade for them. We may get a late draft pick for one of them. Krakouer will also be gone, obviously. We'd probably like Brown to retire too, but that's unlikely.
I agree with Ashcroft's comment about our ball use. The disposal efficiency should improve, as we gain strength.
I wouldn't be at all surprised for the Suns to participate in the GWS 17 year old mini-draft again. We can afford to offer attractive trades, because we need to reduce our list size anyway. We also want to have a regular injection of the best young players year after year. WA midfielder Jack Martin looks a possibility to be picked up in the mini-draft. He's very poised & reminds me a lot of Harley Bennell. I'm not sure that's exactly the type of player we need, but he looks a great talent.
I also agree we'd be looking for a key defender. Bock is 30 next year, so we need to be grooming a replacement. We'll probably draft the best youngsters we can get, but may trade for another mature CHB type.

THE SUNS are prepared to trade midfield gun Josh Caddy and one of their young ruckmen and will de-list veteran Josh Fraser as part of an end-of-year clean-out that will have between seven and 12 players moved on.
AFL rules dictate the Suns must reduce their expanded start-up list from 46 to 42 players for next year and also create room to make the mandatory three selections in this year's draft, which includes the elevation of pre-listed teenager Jaegar O'Meara to the senior list.
The Suns have locked away 27 players beyond this year with Caddy, Danny Stanley, Charlie Dixon, Tom Hickey, Sam Iles and Maverick Weller the off-contract players with the most senior experience.
The Suns want to retain Caddy but he is almost certain to return to Victoria and the club will play hardball to ensure it is on their terms.
The others are among a group of about 15 players who will be playing for their futures in the next 10 weeks.
Nathan Krakouer, who walked away from the club in the pre-season, will be finally removed from the list and Fraser will be the most experienced player to be delisted.
The Suns had a list strategy meeting last week where they planned their approach to this year's trade period and draft.
They will draft the best available player, will hunt for a key defender during trade week and also try to again secure the best 17-year-old in the country from Greater Western Sydney in another mini-draft similar to the one that had O'Meara join the Suns.
The Suns took a deliberate strategy of stocking up on ruckmen when they built their inaugural list knowing they were a rare commodity and would be of the greatest trade value. Only Zac Smith is off limits.
List manager Scott Clayton said he believed the club had made the right calls in their inaugural draft of 2010 and maintained the predictions their premiership window would be opening in 2014 remained achievable.
"We believe we've got the right names, but we haven't got all the right names," he said.
"We are not Noah's Ark, we haven't got two of everything.
"That's what we've got to do now, a list is built over four or five years, not one."
Clayton conceded the biggest hole in the Suns' list was key defenders and suggested that because they developed slower than midfielders it was a position he was looking to trade for.
"We'd like a key defender, but they are the hardest to find," he said.
The Suns' kicking efficiency has been below an acceptable standard this year but football manager Marcus Ashcroft said he felt that was a result of young players making poor decisions under pressure and did not reflect the need to recruit more skilful ball users.

Caddy will go anywhere in vic, who ever offers the most. Forget Essendon exclusively, the trade will be on our terms otherwise he goes into the psd risking all.
I could see him going to the demons given their lack of talent and likely good daft picks/cap space.
