The American National Rugby League has announced plans for NRL team Melbourne Storm to play the USA Tomahawks in a one-off game in the US later this year.
The match will be played on Saturday, October 30 and host cities being considered include New York and Philadelphia.
The Storm, which will likely bring a squad of 30 on tour, will arrive on the East Coast on Wednesday, October 10 to allow for two days of practice. The Australian side will depart on Sunday, October 14.
Quality end. Defence stood up in those last couple of minutes.
7-0![]()
Yep they went in my mind from a bottom half of 8 side to a side that can push for top 4. Not too many come down here and push Melbourne that hard.
One thing that had us a bit amused though was why you guys don't spread the ball faster? On numerous occasions you had an overlap on the left, yet either didn't move ball fast enough or the centre took on the line. We definitely thought that cost you somewhat.

Sometimes in life, it is perfectly okay to do the dirty.
Hear me out.
Maybe you are loyal to the golden arches, but one day only a Whopper will do.
You might be a caffeine fiend, but occasionally you will try a chai.
Your heart might belong to Ramsey Street, but you holiday in Summer Bay.
Sometimes in life, it doesn’t have to be an either/or proposition.
So here it is: [Braces for inevitable cacophony of objection] It is okay to follow both the NRL and the AFL.
Hello....? Are you still with me....? Is this thing on...?
I realise this is a contentious proposition.
Full disclosure: I am Melburnian. I barrack for the mighty Dees. I am forever looking for the fixture on the NRL website, not the draw. I tend to ask who was ‘Best on Ground’ despite repeatedly being told that we call it ‘Man of the Match’. I try to keep abreast of news at the tribunal, always forgetting that we call it the judiciary.
And as a proud Melburnian and even prouder Melbourne Storm supporter, I am here to put the case forward for ‘doing the double’, having have seen both sides of the NRL v AFL debate.
‘Debate’ is probably a euphemism. Perhaps ‘battle’ would be more apt.
NRL fans call AFL ‘aerial ping pong’. AFL fans call NRL ‘thugby’. NRL fans call AFL players soft. AFL fans call NRL players ‘bum sniffers’ (an unfortunate reference to our scrums, in case you are wondering). And so it goes.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. It is okay to enjoy both.
Great article, I can never figure out which is more precious, NRL or AFL supporters. both pretty bad though. The poor girls a Demons fan and yes, it's ok to follow both codes with a passion without feeling like you might be being blasphemous and without the need to insult the other code.
Smart move. I expect around 25k or so.
Akin to Apple fanbois and Android fanbois, as pathetic as each other.Great article, I can never figure out which is more precious, NRL or AFL supporters. both pretty bad though.

Thinking of dragging my family down for the game. ticket prices are the same as AFL which is good.
Is there any better place to be than Melbourne? AFL and a great NRL team with a super coach and a great team culture.

Great article from Mel Hoffman on enjoying both codes. The boys at LU will go off their nut if they hear about this

Seriously though, it's a fantastic city. Couldn't ask for much more.
