Great game tonight, real tight arm wrestle. Was worried when the warriors got that try to level scores at 14 all, storm very lucky the conversion attempt hit the post.

End score flattered the Storm but I was absolutely wrapped we came away with the win. Warriors should be proud with their effort, they played a great game and would have been worthy winners if they did get over the top of us.

Have those who criticised the Chambers recruitment, or suggested he wasn't best 17, eaten their humble pie yet? Best is yet to come from him too, very exciting.

Jake Webster scored five tries in a game once as well. It's not that hard to be on the end of a try when you have quality all around you.

I was one of those who thought Chambers left before hes potenial.

I was hesitant with Chambers gettting into the side but he has done well.

Will catch up with you one day mate I promise. Same for CC.
Didn't make it in the end. Did the dawn service his year and decided to drink beers starting lunchtime, watch the AFL, cook a BBQ and then settle in for the NRL.
What a game. Warriors will be thereabouts. Plenty of errors from both side. Inu had a stinker.
God I love rugby league.

Pity you missed the game Tugga, it was tight till the end and I think Storm supporters and the players just needed that win over the Warriors. It made for a nice change over the past 4 games.

I've suggested we meet at the Bench next game you and AM are available.

I was a little disappointed with the crowd, 20,000+, but I guess the awful weather had some say. Earlier in the week I thought up to 25,000 would be attending before seeing the weather forecast.

The pre-match was superb and was probably very inspiring for both teams.

Great start to the season for the boys. The NRL tried to make an example of us after the salary cap thing by taking half our roster, and we STILL have the best team in the league. Way to stick it up 'em!

I do have a few questions though:

-- What sort of ratio of forwards to backs do you want on the bench? Mainly one or the other? Or about 50/50?

-- Speaking of the bench, when Manu gets back and Proctor goes back to the bench, who else do you guys think we should have on the bench? Obviously there will be Proctor and Hinchcliffe, so who joins them? I would think we'd have Blair and Quinn there as well, or do one or both of them start in place of one or two of the backs currently in the lineup?

-- Does anyone know where I can buy a rugby league ball in Bendigo? I know where to get a union ball, so are they the same? If so, I'll just get that one.

-- Is CooperCronk (the poster, not the half-back) a chick?

1. It is normally 3 Forward to one back but it can be 4 forwards. When the Storm won the premiership in 1999. It was 4 forwards but the avantage of that was unlimited interchanges.

2. In Benidgo, Rebel Sport is good. If not Rugby Fever in Melbourne. Great little shop and post it up

3. Yes

Storm seem to be going with smaller and smaller benches all the time. 2 props and then 2 small forwards, like Hinchcliffe, Kostjasyn or Quinn. Blair could easily play that role too but is very much out of favour.

Some selection headaches coming up with Vave, Lowrie and Manu to somehow fit back in. Lowe was pretty good and Quinn has been solid as a bench utility. They'd be stiff to get dropped. Come Origin, they'll all be playing though.

Not remotely close to being the same mate.

A Gilbert (union) is of a much rounder shape than a steeden (league)

I was going to suggest Rebel too like the prior poster. Would definitely look there, unless the Storm shop stocks them

A few may have been turned off due to the stadiums stupidity last year.

Anyone sitting on the upper western level wouldn't have seen more than half the game

Was also an outstanding night last year in comparison to this as you mention.

Will admit I did go last year and didn't this year but that was unavoidable

Thanks for the responses guys. I was thinking that an NRL bench would be more forward-dominant due to the heavy physical workload that the forwards have.

As for CooperCronk being female... well, a chick who loves footy? Be still, my beating heart.

Honestly, the hordes of aggro Kiwis was a small reason to put me off going to this fixture this year as well. I know many NZers and they are all great people, but there's something about the sports goers that turn me off. Sorry AuckMel, no offence intended to Kiwis in general. As I said, I know many and like them all. I have 'loved' quite a few in time as well.:D
Not sure how it was this year. Maybe I am just being precious. Wouldn't be the first time I have been accused of being soft.
I did hear there were a few that were yelling out 'C'mon Warriors' during the minute's silence. 90k can shut up at the MCG, why can't league fans just shut their holes for 30 seconds (it's not a minute any more)?
Have been wanting to try out the bench for a while now. Sounds like a good idea, but I am not sure whether it still exists. Kearns Club would be nice to try, $220 is steep though, but would at least be something to consider as a one off?

^ Tugga there were only a couple of Warrior fans who yelled out during the ceremony and it was very noticable because of the deathly silence.

The banter between both sets of supporters makes it a great rivalry between the 2 clubs and you would have to agree if fans of other clubs attended in such great numbers our attendance records would hit the roof.

JFYI The Bench still exists and its a good spot for a coffee and a meet up.

The Kearns lounge also sound like a good idea also...$220 for 10 people (I think) is not too expensive for a special night out...maybe extend an invitation to some more of our regular posters??

I'll leave it to you 2 guys to set a date as I attend most home games.

The noise during the ceremony was in very poor taste. I thought they guy rambling on the PA out the back was too.

It's a fantastic fixture which we're doing very well. Love the aboriginal and maori ceremonial parts too. 13 years later and the haka still sends a chill down my spine.

I'm up for a night in the Kearns lounge, just got to work it in with my pay week and the boys footy. Will bring Mrs AuckMel along too.

Yeah i am drfinitely being soft. Not the first time.
Keans Loung woukd be good, but it is $220 per prson isn't it. I know AM doesn't drink but i would certsinly make use of the 4-hour open bar.

Afternoon all. Looking for a bit of advice.
Never been to a game before, have got some some NSW mates coming down in a few weeks & looking to attend Storm v Broncos on May 25.
1. What is the bet option for getting tickets & where are the best seats to watch?
2. Should I get tickets now or will we be able to walk up on the night? I believe this is only a few days after SOO so I'd assume most of the big guns wont play.

Cheers

Most of the big guns will back up and play in this game.
I would boook tickets now. There will be a lot of Queenslanders who are making the trip down here for SOO and will combine it with attending the Storm-Broncos game.
Anywhere on the sideline is best: http://www.aamipark.com.au/PortalData/1/Resources/arenas/aamipark/Storm_seating_plan.pdf

You will pay most for the 'pink' areas (category 1), but if you really want to watch the game rather than be there for the atmosphere, then I would advise buying these seats.
If you and your mates are happy just glugging a few beers and being there for the game, rather than actually analysing and watching the game properly, then GA is fine, but you usually need to get there early to get the better GA seats. Maybe Category 2 would be better and then you actually have your seat there and waiting for you rather than trying to find one.
You will be able to get in just by rocking up, but if there is a group of more than 3, I would advise buying tickets beforehand, otherwise searching for seats to sit together is going take time and be a pain in the arse.
There should be a reasonable crowd for this game and in my experience, any more than even 18,000 and general admission seats become difficult to find in a good area and in a block of four or more seats.
