lol Perfect QB Rating for the Packers kicker. Take That Rodgers.

I would say that's more an indictment on Chicago's O-line than GBs pass rush.

In the last 2 and a bit seasons (34 games) the Bears lead the league with 114 sacks allowed. In the same period (-1 game because the Giants haven't played week 2 yet) the New York Giants allowed a mere 47 sacks.

Over that period they drafted just one OL in the 2011 draft (Gabe Carimi in the 1st round), and none in the 2012 draft - I think they must be living in denial......

Yeah, but the Giants aren't league leading because of stellar o-line play. Eli plays to avoid the sack (For better or worse sometimes). Cutler has the same mentality if anything, just doesn't have the clock for it. Before that, the other end was a turnstile as well.

No different to the way Seahawks have skipped on the idea of giving the WR/ TE position any consideration.. **Dr Phil appointment beckons**

With a Division/ season 'JUMPSTART' there for the taking for da Bears to capitalise on, it was a drastically SHOCKING 'ARE YOU JOKERS KIDDING ME!!!' performance  . Packers D played a smarter game this week but still, going to your #1 WR (how much is Marshall getting again??) once in the first 30 odd play attempts just 'dropped all credibility' of the Bears playbook IMHO.:thumbsdown: I'd be shattered if I was a Bears fan. I'm paying for the 7CR << crying I am!! :( After the 41pts they put up last week... what does that tells us about the the Colts D now? Is Cutler the 'sissy' we always suspected he is? Looked like a complete BUM out there today. Lovie smith... GROW SOME!! I would of benched Cutler after the second INT. that was shamelessly embarrassing. Hate for the Packers... I think not. These teams are supposed to be bitter rivals.. PIGS ARSE!! o_O I've seen more tension and spite in a local netball game.

"Heard some talk out of the Bears: Packers secondary not working coverage, bigger receivers ... we heard about it," Woodson told ESPN's Rachel Nichols after the game. "We understand that Jay is excited about his new weapons, but it's the same-old Jay. We don't need luck; Jay will throw us the ball."

The sheer overconfidence Cutler was giving 'verbally' in the lead up had me 'BUYING It'.. SO HUMILIATED NOW!! CUTLER YOU C***!!

Could have had DeCastro or Reiff this year too (not that McClellin isn't good)

Pathetic from Jay today. Thought he was a top 10 qb now i'm not too sure.

Not all his fault his 0-Line gave him no help, meanwhile his head is now on Clay Mathews mantelpiece, 4 sacks!
I also started Cutler over Vick in Fantasy due to the Ravens matchup also had Finley and Marshall in the same team..4 points combined

Some things to look out for in this week's match-ups...

Panthers holding grudge for Saints running up the score

Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith wasn’t biting earlier this week when asked about the Saints bounty allegations.

But that’s not the only thing the Panthers have to be tight about.

Several Panthers expressed dismay at the Saints’ decision to run up the score in last year’s finale, leaving starters in to break records while the Panthers defense was limping to the finish line.

The Saints won 45-17, leaving quarterback Drew Brees and other starters in well into the fourth quarter at the behest of suspended coach Sean Payton.

“It’s a philosophy. It’s an attitude. And that’s what his is,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said, via Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. “So he coaches that way and they play that way. My attitude and my philosophy is win the football game, and then be smart about the next week. That’s just the way I look at it, a difference in philosophy.”

Of the Panthers defensive starters that day, seven are still on the roster, but only four started last week’s opener at Tampa Bay (cornerback Chris Gamble, strong safety Charles Godfrey, linebacker James Anderson and defensive end Antwan Applewhite).

That kind of turnover makes it difficult to raise a healthy disrespect argument, because the Panthers defense is completely different with several regulars on the field (including defensive end Charles Johnson, defensive tackle Ron Edwards, linebackers Jon Beason and Thomas Davis) and newcomers Luke Kuechly and Dwan Edwards.

The Saints had already nailed down the third seed in the playoffs and weren’t moving up, but Brees said on a conference call it was more important to go into the playoffs on a roll. And did they ever, gaining 617 yards to break the 2000 Rams’ old mark for yards in a season with 7,474
“When it got into the third and fourth quarter, [Darren] Sproles was close to the record of most all-purpose yards in history. Jimmy Graham was close to most yards for a tight end in history,” Brees said. “So were we trying to get those guys some touches, some yards, in order to break those records? Yeah, absolutely. Who wouldn’t?”

The Panthers, apparently.

“When you’re going for it on fourth-and-1 when you’re up by 50,000 points, it’s what you’re supposed to do. But it’s not what you’re supposed to do, at the same time,” defensive end Greg Hardy said. “So I’m not happy about that.”

Then again, Hardy and the Panthers have an opportunity to do something about it this weekend, when injuries are no longer an excuse.

Jed York cautions against hard handshakes

Posted by Mike Florio on September 13, 2012, 3:35 PM EDT
harbaughgetty1.jpg

As the 49ers and Lions prepare to get together again, less than a year after a post-game meeting between coach Jim Harbaugh and coach Jim Schwartz sent shock waves throughout the NFL, it’s hard not to avoid talking about the handshake.

It’s even harder when the owner of one of the teams is talking about it.

At a downtown rally on Wednesday, 49ers owner Jed York made light of the jaw-dropping moment as he wrapped up his remarks: “By all means, when you’re shaking somebody’s hand at the end of the game, don’t do it too hard.”

It’s unlikely that Harbaugh and Schwartz will have another incident this year. Still, something seems to overtake Harbaugh when it’s time to compete.

Of course, that “something” never seems to be too far under the surface. And so when the nitro that is Harbaugh gets together with the glycerin that is Schwartz, it makes sense not to choose that moment to go grab a beer — or to go do the thing that needs to be done after drinking three or four of them.

Don't understand all the fuss around "running up the score", clearly an American thing.
People get shitty when others run up the score on them in Madden, dragging out a known result, and there are no injury concerns in Madden either :p

Btw, teams often avoid running up the score in Aussie sports like League and ARules too. ;)

Now who on earth would take a video game so seriously? :p

Attacking teams do to conserve players, but you don't see the team who loses by 100 points saying: "why did they decide to smash us even though the game was already won? What pricks!" either.

If you don't like the opposition running up the score, play harder defence even when the game is iced, don't lie down and then sook about it later because your opposition were a little bit ruthless.

Revis ruled out of the Jets game against Pittsburgh with concussion. Thanks Bart Scott. Cro will now cover Wallace, Wilson on Brown and Lankster will be the third CB. Keller also ruled out, so Pittsburgh should go into the game clear favourites (I think they have a line of 5.5 points on the Steelers).

Im so sick of hearing people complain about teams running up the score...Maybe if your team stopped them, they wouldn't have a score to run up! Sore losers.

Also fans are paying serious coin to attend NFL games so I'd prefer more bang for my buck.

Tonight I had a post game chat with a WCE fan who attended the J-E-T-S G-MEN game last season (week 16) where both teams season's were on the line. He says he was rapt with the intensity on & off the field even though the G-Men proved to be too good (29-14) when it counted. He said that he greatly appreciated what we have here with the AFL too. Btw.. he coughed up $400 a pop game tix and even got to the Big Dance where he shelled out $2,590 a pop for his SB tix. I guess he got his pennies worth with his G-Men winning another Lombardi. That Bradshaw backing in TD still the most extraordinary play. He enjoyed it and was just as amazed.

I think Polamalu and Harrison have been ruled out so I guess that evens it up?

I'd rather have Clark (returns) & Ike Taylor back there more than Polamalu who is a pseudo DB when Clark plays anyway. Polamalu is questionable with a calf. Didn't train on Thursday. Harrison tells the Post Gazzette early in the week he's playing but is a no-show at training. Ducks & Drakes is what's going on. If Revis isn't playing.. that's a bitter blow for the J-E-T-S no doubt. We'll wait n' see who suits up and who doesn't.
