Have thinking about making this for a while and since there is not a whole lot to talk about, thought it would be exciting to share my predictions and hear others going into next year.

1) Melksham to have a huge pre season and bulk up like crazy.
Which will assist him to his break out year, and remind us why he was taken at pick number 10,

2) Riemers to shut all the critics up, once and for all eliminating all his selfish habits and to finish top 5 on the goal kicking list.

3) Watson to play all games and finish top 5 in the Brownlow and get an AA jumper

4) Hurley to play his first full season in one position - the forward line. He'll send opposition defences into meltdown, finishing the year on top of our goal kicking list kicking 50+ goals.

5) Hooker and Pears to play most games next year and finally show us what they can do after a good pre-season and no injury worries.
Lead by the General of the backline, Fletcher.

6) Zaharakis will play the whole season in the midfield, now that he has built the tank for it, and will be even more renowned for his elite finishing on the run. Will need to start and put up with tagging.

7) Hibberd and Dempsey to fight it out for the most improved Bombers in '12

8) Winderlich to surprise many and have a great season coming off a knee reco in the same role he played this year.

9) Carlisle to have a great season and the comparisons with Sam Reid, Henderson etc will begin.

10) Heppell will defy the '2nd year blues theory' and start to play more often on the wing/mid, racking up his usual numbers of 20 odd quality touches.

11) The 2 best of friends Jetta and Ryder will lift each other to new heights.

12) Colyer will no longer be super sub, rather he'll cement a spot in the regular team.

And finally..

13) Essendon to finish 7th and win their first final since '04

If your predictions come true there is no way we are finishing 7th. It would be at minimum West Coast 2011 quality.

Guys I think will have a big say on where we finish on the ladder in 2012;-

Watson, Hurley, Zaka, Ryder, Hocking

Guys that I hope will improve;-

Carlisle, Reimers, Colyer, Pears, Melksham

On the comeback trail;-

Lonergan, Winders, Dempsey, Long, Prismall

Guys who may be on their last legs;-

McVeigh, Hille, Gumby, Davey, NLM
underrated again....wheres stanton in all this...proberbly our nost affective and skillfullest playest...but again....kicked to the curb...

No injuries = Top 4 finish

No injuries = multiple Essendon AA selections

No injuries = wins in WA

No injuries = wins OUTDOORS

No injuries = GUMBLETON!

A pipedream I know, but hey, one can only dream of the unimaginable.....

The following i'd consider smokeys to happen, yet at the same time i personally think there are good enough grounds for a prediction...

1) Hooker and Pears to by the most part play a full season, with Hooker having the reputation of being the better player of the two by seasons end.

2) Gumby to play 16+ games and show form significantly superior to his 2010 season....might even take a final apart too. :)

3) Hocking, Stanton, Zaharakis and Heppell to play their best season to date in their respective careers, with Melksham finishing above all of them in the b&f.

4) Fletcher to struggle for fitness and form before retiring mid to late season (of course hoping i'm wrong). :(

5) Myers to break out and finish 4th-10th in the b&f.

6) Ryder to have a very similar season to this year, before breaking out and having a beauty in 2013.

7) Not really a smokey as such, but for the record Essendon to finish around 5th.

I'm really worried about the kick-outs, nearly every time someone else takes em it doesn't go well.

We need to start preparing for life after Fletch.

Be good to see young kids keeping out players such as nlm and mcviegh. Imagine pears or a carlisle keeping out fletch swell.

Some people are under-rating Fletch simply because of a couple games
have people forgotten how good he was during the season, Im worried who is gonna play his role when he leaves

ESSENDON will put its players through the toughest pre-season of their careers, believing its emerging squad can be pushed even more this summer.

Several Bombers players described last year's program as the most torturous campaign they had experienced, but coach James Hird and his lieutenants will crank up the work rate.

It is understood Hird recently showed his players data that revealed they each covered an average 25km-30km a week last pre-season.

"Look out boys, because pre-season 2012 is going to be one to write home about for the rest of your lives," Hird said.

Assistant coach Mark Thompson said the bar would be raised in all areas.

"We'll push them and keep pushing them until we get them big and strong and fit enough to play complete games of footy against the best teams," Thompson said.

I predict tha Hird and co will turn players as small as Heppell into Hulk

Watson to win the BnF.
Hurley to Kick 40+ goals.
Stanton will continue to polarise supporters, subsequently failing to be recognised as an import player in our team by half of them.
Dempsey and Winderlich could struggle to have an impact if they don't get full pre seasons.
Slattery will no longer be in the best 25.

i dont think it is about how long you kick it, it is about how accurate you kick it..

FWIW, have seen enough of 'Hibb' over the years to say that he is not a hugely long kick..
Thats true but gee Fletcher has been amazing with the kick outs
If heppell is moved into the midfield he might not be doing them
Maybe pears
I remember Hurley used too kick out well in his junior days but he wont be down there
