without question their ratings are going to drop if they pile in more advertising. and they are going to have problems maintaining the audiences they do get to the end as well, which effects the averages.

they will have to figure out a way to boost them in other ways. getting games on FTA TV live would be the best way to do it.

I very rarely watch delayed NRL games due to the fact that they pile so many ads in. If a Broncos away game is delayed on Ch 9, I'll usually watch an online stream.

And I very rarely watch NRL games that don't involve Broncos unless if its a final because Ch 9 usually show them live.

Fri TV #AFL @FoxFooty 329,000 #aflbluespies

Makes for a very healthy total.

Fri TV: #AFL Seven/7mate 879k (Syd 56k Mel 499k Bri 38k Ade 155k Per 130k) Sub TV numbers later (hopefully) #aflbluespies
+329 for fox so 1,208 million - not including Tasmania and FTA regionals.

Great result for Sydney, given it's a non Swans game, up against live NRL and on a muti-channel to boot..

The increase is mainly from Sydney and Brisbane as well on FTA. Last year only 11,000 in sydney and 4,000 in Brisbane, with +11k watching in melbourne. Perth and adelaide remained unchanged.

However

Sydney 11k -> 56k
Brisbane 4k -> 38k

Note: these games were shown on foxs main event channel in these cities, however i believe that people with fox last year are likely to have kept it this year, and so i believe that main event figures cant reasonably be assumed to be included in the foxfooty figures for 2012.

The Nrl "we have the best TV figures" Trolls are missing in action!

Another dimension to consider esp on a friday night would how many watch AFL in Pubs and Clubs around the nation maybe another 60,000 +?

There are about 10,000 Clubs, Pubs and Bars in Australia

Some like Crown would have hundreds watching on their big screens.

LoL

Isn't that what you want?

I was at a pub last night sipping on a few diet cokes and it must have had a hundred or more pool tables in it. Was at least 200 people in the place. They had the footy on and we were all taking sneak peaks while playing pool.

We had a great time too btw.

Wow, massive ratings for the AFL again! Just shows you that when football is live, nothing rivals it.

How does a Suns home game rate higher than a Lions away game in BRISBANE :confused:

night games get more viewers

Carlton v Collingwood rated higher in Sydney than Swans v Port

And thats why the AFL GF will be played at night not too far into the future = its just good business sense!

The only reason the nRL get good ratings for their GF is its played at night in peak ratings period.Put it on a Saturday afternoon and see how they go!

This ^ And the AFL GF still outrated the nRL GF by 100,000's each year - what does that tell you. If our game wasn't run by so many traditionalists then a night GF would be a certainty.
