Mumford & Berger.

Stephenson & Cheapest starting ruckman on the bench. Done.

Cox is over priced and may drop in scoring as Nic Nat improves. Sandi is great whilst playing, but will drop at least 4-5 games a season.

Loving the look of this combo:

Sandi $600,500
Kreuz $418,300
Giles $126,700
Orren $106,600

total spent = $1,252100 (12.5% of salary cap)

Will Orren actually play? West, Vardy & Hawkins is who I would have in Geelongs best 22.

Hawks rucking days are over, that was a terrible experiment.

West will be the no.1 ruckman.

Vardy is currently injured, Orren really should play, especially early in the year, and then he'd prob become cover for injuries to West & Vardy, unless his early season form is too good to ignore, he may hold his spot leaving Vardy in the VFL.

Yep, that's my exact ruck set-up at the moment.

Naitanui or Goldstein as only premium ruck?????
NicNat is 100,000 cheaper and without injuries he should improve; or should I go the safe option and get Goldstein who should get 100+.

I'm thinking I should wait and trade Goldstein in later on but I'm not sure:confused:

With McIntosh back I wouldn't touch Goldstein.

I'ts a real shame Mitch Clark isn't a ruckman or DDP.

I may still take him as a Forward.

Seems like a goer if mummy 100% healthy.

Do people think that with CD tweaking the scoring system last year such that rucks scored so much better that they might be looking at re-tweaking to bring their scores back down to earth?
I think this question goes beyond 'will all rucks have averages down 5 points on last year' but more towards only a few rucks dominating points wise, with the rest averaging around 80 odd like in the past.

Their scoring went up last year but not markedly so. Also a considerable part of this from my figures was due to extra time on ground by most first rucks due to the sub rule.

Don't see why they would change the scoring system back - there is a reason why they changed it in the first place.

just been having a read over some of the Combs very interesting read
but what about a player like B.Renouf who was traded to Port Adelaide he's price is at $248,500 .... the only other ruckman port has is M.Lobb and port wouldn't have traded to get him just to sit on the outer they lost Brogen so he might be a bit of a smokey, the only bad thing i can see with him is he's injury pron.
and what about the Hawks young player McMacley he's at $231,500 played 3 games last year got a Avg of 60+ i cant see Max bailey doing all the ruck work on he's own
what do you guys think?

Natinui anyone?

Not much talk about him. I'd expect him to improve again meaning a 100+ average is a real possibility.

No mention of Krueser or West yet!! Krueser seemed to get past last 9 games ok and should be full of confidence and West looks like being Cats #1 ruckman for some time. Handled himself very well late last year. Would have thought both a chance for at least second premium!!

I'm thinking along both these lines, Natinui carried a dodgy shoulder all last season and still averaged about 90, so should naturally improve, let alone getting in a full pre season. Saw him at subi last year and he is a freak of an athlete, if he is 100% fit could be ready to tear games apart. And Kreuzer is a jet, kicks a good goal and just from what i've read is training like a champion.

I think this will be the highest-scoring starting ruck combo. Takes the byes into account as well. It'll cost you, though, so I'm not set on it.

Mumford; 610,300
McIntosh; 364,300
Longer; 161,600
Stefensen; 106,600

1,242,800 total.

might be looking at trading Longer out, but that's what i've got currently.

Mummy & Berger combo is still $100k cheaper than Sex on the beach. Cox ain't getting any younger and willbe surely getting a bigger chop out from Nic Nat this year. Sandi is a dead set gun and dominates but will drop 4 games a season minimum. Berger & Mummy are the two dominate ruckmen in their respective sides and are in their prime. Mummy is 25, Berger 23.

N.Naitanui $508,800
S.Jacobs $502,700
J.Giles $126,700
O.Stephensen $106,600

Total: $1,244,800.

That's what I've got, Thoughts?

Do you think that BOTH jacobs & Nicnat will be better than Cox, Berger, Goldstein, Sandi & Mummy at teh end of the year? If so, fine. If not, you need at least one of them. Otherwise it's another trade gone. Question is, which one?? ;)

Thoughts on Ayce Cordy as an expensive rookie? Surely there's opportunity for him and he's had a few years of development. I can see him being worth $380k during the season for sure, but is it realistic?

So I love my crazy ruck strategis; 4 rookie, etc...

Dan gorringe from the suns

I totally forgot about this guy, even though I had him last year (ouch)

But this year, could be different! Is priced nicely at $192K
Last year he was put in a moon boot, leaving him nothing to do but pump iron all year, needless to say...

Has become a MONSTER!

Word around town is he is going to be tried in the forward line, I can easily see this bloke clunking some marks and kicking goals, as well as getting time in the ruck up fwd, even pinch hitting. Could/Should replace Fraser IMO

Could be the perfect 2nd instead of Hmac, Kreuze, etc.
Or even make the rookie ruck strategy a little more enticing; Orrenson, Giles, Gorringe, Rowe, Dericx, Longer, etc...

Anyone else thinking NicNat and Kreuze? Both could really step it up this year, and the savings can be used to get more proven premiums elsewhere... still undecided but i like risk taking/differentiating.
