Well the game against Nambour should breathe life into this comp. We were very competitive for all 4 qtrs and nearly pinched it again. They were pretty much at full strength as were we so anyone who thinks it's a 1 horse race should have another think about it. Oh and it's nice to see the pies back where we belong... Premiership favourites

wow thats
hahaha it's actually embarrassing. Buffs always will get better in second half, always have injuries zzzzzzz. You blokes are not even in the contest. Its us, Nambour, Redcliffe and coomera. Maybe Logan if lucky that is it. Buffs no chance

wow big call writing off beenleigh logan nambour should make the grand final. i think who they play could be anyone from 2nd to 6th. would not be suprised if logan beat nambour not saying they will but who knows.

Would be alot better to see that match Pies, Nambour v Caboolture on a dry deck rather than a mud bath. Like yousaid though I'm sure it is more than a one horse race.

I apologise if this has been raised/discussed before and I mean no offence when I ask, but what is happening with UQ? They appear to have a superior Reserves outfit versus their Seniors. I have only seen them once mind you but it seemed there were a lot of players in their Reserves side that should have been in Seniors and visa versa.

The ladder is probably reflective of this also. Is there anything behind this or has anyone else noticed similar? I know Ipswich are adopting a youth policy in their Seniors which has its positives/negatives, but not sure with the Lions.

Just wondering people's thoughts/understanding.

Occasionally happens Swoopa - big difference bn 2's and 1's at any level of competition. Have seen even at AFL level reserves sides winning GF's with very ordinary 1's.

I can see why you might think what you are implying based on ladder positions. I can also categorically state that it is not the case. All 4 teams are picked in order of best to least best player. Though I'd like all 4 of our teams to be experiencing the same success, as a 3rd strongest team competing against other clubs' strongest outfit our Div 3 Seniors tend to struggle. The positive is that the drop off from 3rds to 4ths is a lot less significant than the difference between any club's strongest 22 and their next best. That has always been the case as I'm sure you've all seen over the last few seasons. Thanks to the amazing conditioning work our 4ths coach has been doing over the last year the entire Div 3 squad has developed greatly, and in my opinion both teams are more competitive than in previous seasons. It does seem to have had a greater effect in the Reserves, I would say because most other clubs' Reserves sides are quite a bit less fit than their Seniors. I hope that helps explain the success our Reserves have been having of late, and further hope that it continues through to September!

Good to hear. I enjoy seeing sides that have traditionally struggled come back and make a run of it. Sounds like your fitness coach has put in some hard work which is reaping rewards for your Ressies.

The benefit will now begin to work it's way through the squad as it becomes more and more competitive for spots.

A youth policy in Div 3 is obviously code for "our seniors are crap so lets go for a resies flag"

It's a joke and an insult to expect anyone to buy this crap. Luke K is their best player and sitting in the ressies WTF, the guy is a gun???

Any way, hopefully we welcome back some important players this week and can make a play for top 5 in the second half of the season. We have certainly made it hard for ourselves and will have to snatch a few wins that many dont think possible. Its obvious we will need some good luck with injuries etc for this to happen, so here's hoping :thumbsu:

Luke K wont play seniors , along with a few others, that is why the first coach quit.

Be funny if they did win a senior flag and were asked to go up a div. 4 teams in the same comp, now that would be a laugh.

Well that thought crossed my mind but I'll allow you to say the words ha ha

Sad case if anyone is blatantly stacking. Best 22 in Seniors, Second best in Ressies. Simple in my opinion.
As i have stated before there can be a few exceptions but it's disappointing thinking that may not be the case with everyone.

I agree totally a 'youth policy' in div 3?? I dont think so.... What is the point, the turnover in this league is massive, if you go young you will just lose those players after 1-2 years anyway.

True especially in some areas with a lot of clubs in higher divisions.

Like I said a few weeks back I don't believe there is much point playing all youth in Seniors. I understand a couple of spots maybe but as I said, if the older footy brains are playing in the Ressies anyway then who are the youth learning from? The opposition won't be offering constructive advice I'm sure...

Coomera, Beenleigh, Griffith, Redcliffe, Nambour.

I also think Logan may get the points in a close one but think Nambour have earned the right to be favourites.

KP, I love your optimism - or you know more than the rest of us. I don't think anyone doubts that Logan will be better than last time, but 99 points better? This is assuming also that Nambour have not also improved.
For me:

Caboolture in a close one, 2-3 goals,
Beenleigh by 40,
Griffith by a couple,
Redcliffe to smash the youth policy - great way to improve yout club Ipswich????
Nambour by 4 goals.

Let me just say this. We Met the Caboolture umpires today. Cost our reserves the game. Has anyone else experienced this blatant issue? Calling players by first name and visa versa and that last quarter. Diving, 50s for having the ball knocked out of our hands when trying to return it, holding the man for grabbing a guy who is over the ball. It ruins the game.

Anyone else had this? It was plain as day.

Swoopa I saw this when Caboolture played Nambour. The bloke is an out and out cheat. I guess one consolation is that they will get belted in finals because they will not be used to real umpiring.

Due to health reasons I missed yesterdays game and it looked like a real cracker. No Schmidt no Caboolture?

Has anyone got the details on this one. I only have the results to go off and Caboolture 4 goals up at half time and got ran over.

Maybe Beenleigh are back - they belted UQ who have only won one game for the year......tee hee.

Nambour belted Logan who a lot of people were picking to win in an upset, any word on this - looks like they were competitive in the first.

So knowing someone's name makes for bad umpiring? Didn't really think too hard before posting that did you?

Spot on Neautral. Out and out cheat indeed! It was blatant and just disgusting. One of our club people heard them discussing it after the game and joking about how he will "be in the wedding party" now.

I never have and never will be a player that claims umpires very week and claims they got a raw deal when they didn't. I know umpires (especially the lower the division) make mistakes BUT there is a difference when it is blatant favouritism. No point taking it to the league though or it will just make the rest of the year "difficult".

In regards to the Seniors result, Caboolture were excellent in the first half and got out to a 30 point lead. They had fantastic delivery to their forwards and spread well through the midfield.

To our credit we dug deep and fought back and just went harder at the ball and began to use our run. It was a nail biting finish with the siren going with the ball in their forward 50.

Hope you're feeling better Neutral. Would've been a good game for you to report on, unless you were planning on heading to Logan? I was one who thought it would be closer but as I said Nambour deserve the right to be favourites every week.

Where's proof of these blatant bad decisions. A 50m penalty was paid when a player failed to give the ball to the player to the player who received the free kick. There are other umpires in the league who would have paid 2x50m penalties and yellow carded your player. The free kick for holding your team blew up claiming he was over the ball even though he was standing up and sheparding the player off. If you don't have the ball and your not lying over it, your not in possession and cant be held on to.

Don't blame umprining for your clubs lack of discipline, you didn't see any Caboolture players carrying on like pork chops when Coomera players ducked into tackles and and got free's no did you.

Beenleigh played well to beat UQ's seniors yesterday. They had loose men everywhere and their forwards presented and marked well all day. There was 6 goals in it to about the mid-point of the 4th quarter, until the Buffs piled on 6 goals to finish the game. Pretty good game to watch, UQ bloke called Josh took a hanger in the 2nd quarter which was awesome.
As for the reserves, was tight all day with UQ leading by a kick at 3qt. UQ was a bit wasteful in the 4th and the Buffs made them pay, kicking two goals with about 5 minutes to go and holding on.
