Where is NP#1? very quiet at the moment. Not like you are all Nicko - Any news form Moorooka you can share or is it all hush hush?
The Roosters are going along nicely. Very good numbers with many new faces. To be honest we wont know how good we are until round 5 so we won't pump ourselves up too much just yet.

Swoopa have u guys got any practice matches planned yet? I used to prescribe to the theory that u should try to play 1 game against a lower division side & 1 against a higher division side. Is this generally how it works still?

At this stage I don't know if we have any on the cards but surely not too far off. I can smell an intra club coming soon!

I am of the understanding that the AFLQ actually decide preseason matches. In my time in this division we have played teams in our own division only. Last year was Logan and Beenleigh for us. I think everyone was put up against their nearest rivals.

Looking forward to it whoever it is this year!

Sounds like an arranged marriage! Not a fan of that structure, teams would be testing structures, plans, set-ups and individuals... Best to do that against sides that won't see them until u play them for 4 points...the other side of the coin is u get a look at what ur opponents are experimenting with

I know in div 1 you play whoever you want to play Swoop. Organised with a phone call. Couple of sides coming up to the coast for weekend camps and will fill time playing a match as well.

AFLQ are letting us arrange our own this year. Coomera are talking to sides from div 2. I know Carrara are playing sides in div's below and above them.

Carrara have arranged what we believe is a good mix, one higher, one lower and a strong and tall country side that we don't know much about.

Revenge does not come into it. Due to numbers "senior" players will be rested against both sides you may be referring to lol
Oh well. Gives the young blokes a chance to stick it up 'em themselves. I'm sure there's been heaps of improvement since last year so they should enjoy it!

Big improvement all round compared to last year so things moving along quite well for us, and we are more than happy at this VERY EARLY stage of progress.

Good to hear. I used to play for Murwillumbah in that league and nearly played for Tweed (before going back to Cooli) and I recall that a few of the teams (Ballina, Byron and Lismore) were quite strong with Melbourne ex-pats in abundance.

Should be a good test for the younger guys to show the new coaches what they can do.

How would you rate that league Swoopa say relative to Div 3?
The top 6 players in most sides would probably get a run in most senior sides in this division, the next 10 would be reserves players but the rest would struggle to keep a spot in the reserves. The issue is the locations of the team lends it to be a fairly transient league and teams struggle to travel well, often not being able to field a full team. That was "in my day" when the sides were Ballina, Lismore, Byron, Casino, Nimbin and Mur'bah.

I made the rep squad "The Barbarians" when I was 20 (missed out with a broken foot in the end) so that can't be a good reflection on the quality ;)

Spot on with that summary. Tweed being a bit of the exception to that rule. They have a number of older players but they are all big and use the ball (and fists) quite well. Byron struggle with numbers but Bond, Lismore and Ballina quite solid. Should be interesting to see how Robina go with a "thirds" team in Div 4.

Robina had a 3rds team circa 2008/09 and they were ok, but didnt do much damage.

Although they did love playing together and i believe loved a good bus trip as much as the next guy, cough (pissheads) cough :thumbsu:

Just putting this out there... You can take it on board or throw it right back...

Anyone interested in starting a Dream Team league for the forum... And by someone I mean not me.... I'll just join!
