any sarcasm in your last point? potentially 3 clubs in 3 years - not unheard of but not also something u'd associate often with someone who is a great club man?

he just didnt seem to set the world on fire last year from an outsiders point of view and just wondered whether teams had figured out how to play him.

Haha fair point. He actually seems to endear himself where ever he is is probably a more accurate description.

Played last year with a broken hand after not intending to play at all I believe, so fitness may have not been where it should. Carved us up a few times mainly on the wing.

Saw most of the game on Saturday Night between Jimboomba and Carrara. Was not a particularly entertaining game at all but only early Feb so can't take much of it really. However in saying that, I hope for Carrara's sake that they are alot better then what they showed, otherwise they will get a whoppin from Logan in Round 1....

haha fair point - sure there are reasons associated...maybe he just chases the coin like others... i mean KP is now a 3 clubs in 4 year player

do you know whether it was left or right hand???;)

Who is this KP you speak of

And lets hope it was his left, could have made more than just footy a little difficult

Looking forward round 1 was a good first hit for the boys Saturday night.

Guys,
Is there any Div 3 club looking for a practice game on either 9 or 16 March. UQ Seniors and reserves would love a run although it would have to be at your ground.
If there is any interest could you email the Div 3 coordinator Peter Rosengren at peter.rosengren@insightasset.com

Interesting BOC - FWIW, I think Flowers will be just fine, in fact will be better than half the blokes in Div 2 IMO. He can seriously play, and will be one of the few blokes who could go from FF to a wing and still impact the game. Not to mention, is a great club man.

Morro, I think he plays his best footy close to goals going by his performance in the GF last year. He seemed happy to run forward but lacked the defensive skills especially later in the game. He is a geniune gun in div 3 though and will be just as much a handful in div 2.

Yep can't argue with any of that. :thumbsu:

Intersting story on the Cobs website, maybe no-one gets a whoppin from Logan in any round.

Not suprised at all. I heard the Logan city council charges the Cobras $1000 per month to rent the oval. Who else pays even close to this amount monthly. Hats off to the committee for getting them to this point. Is the Logan council serious about getting kids into sport? perhaps but, obviously not AFL.

Am I missing something? What has your post got to do with the article. It basically says they don't have enough committed players. Nothing to do with money.

We were in a similar position last season and it showed for the first half of the season but we were able to work through it.

They have been up for awhile and its pretty sad the committee are thinking its all too hard. Gotta take the good with the bad.

All our differences aside, it will be shit for the division if Logan were to pull out. Hope they band together and show some real spirit. They will be better for it in the long run. Then again I only know what I just read.

surely the buffs would run some kind of fundraiser to help out their mates from up the road?

I've seen this happen in many leagues in 2 different states. If you insist on trying to buy a premiership eventually the bottom falls out of the club when the money dries up. You need to be willing to put up with some pain for some long term success.

This is bang on the money.

Nearly 100% of the time, clubs that fold is caused by poor administration and in turn decision making. If that means making a decision that says "lets spend $20K on players even though we will only generate $15K" then so be it. Very, very easy to point the figure at other issues rather than look at yourself first. Surely this rent has been charged prior to this season?? From what i know Maroochy pay close to this figure as well. You just deal with it.

This something that I've spoken to Rosey and then Skipper about for the last few years, total cost across the club with all teams is somewhere around 30k. I know have looked to go else where but obviously that isn't an option. This added cost would sink most clubs, I know for a fact Coomera would go under if Gold Coast city council charged anywhere near that. I thinks it unfair to assume its poor administration at fault if you have not worked within their committee.
Lets hope Logan council can help them out as I'd hate to see any club go under.

Guys,
We also hope that Logan can resolve their money issues.
For what it is worth we have to pay $14k per year to UQ administration for use of Oval 7.
A large % of our players are young university students with little cash - means we are out every Friday and Saturday night of the year doing raffles at the Norman.

Spot on! Seems very crippling on an "amateur" club.

Is there another article that I am missing???

The one I read, said nothing about money, it was directed at player commitment.
