Agree with Footy 1st and Gaz here. Strangely enough any club where I was paid (even as win/loss) I have found to be less of a "club" in an off field sense. Especially when it's well known some blokes are only there because they're getting the big $$$ and they'd turn their back on a club in a heart beat for more.

Nowadays I'm just in it for the love! :)
Thanks Swoop & Gaz, paying guns does upset the hardworking locals that develop real commitment to THEIR club! Back in the day, the win/loss payments were all equal, paid up on home games only & we used to have 'mini-functions' for the boys to put the money straight back into our club. They were great years

I believe it happens in most clubs - some form of incentive anyway - wouldnt think too many blokes on a per game cash arrangement these days seeing that money usually was tipped in by a sponsor and lets be honest GFC has reduced the number of people who want to make sizable donations!
Footy 1st - played at a club similarly where u got "club money" that was enough to encourage the boys to stay and start their night at the club but then most tipped in a fair bit of their own cash over the bar before they left so was win/win.
Last cpl of years robina has had shooters as a sponsor that have provided decent valued drink cards as incentives - same principal as above - gets the boys there and they well and truely recoup their drink cards once the jagers and vodka redbulls start appearing!

Must say I've had a few dodgy buffet meals in my time compliments of sponsor donated awards. In the end doesn't matter what it is you get as long as the presentations are a good laugh!

Mighty Leopard- How are your boys travelling mate? Hopefully the numbers are good, you know how much I'm hankering for a WFLB!! Ha ha

How good is this sunshine outside..........even if only temporary. We havent got near grass in 3 weeks but guess it was a good way to force smem fitness. The UQ lads are very keen to get their hands on the leather and have a good hit out with the pies tomorrow. Hoping to put a few $ over your bar to finish off the day.
Big year for us - just confirmed a "5ths" into Div 4 Central on top of 18's and now a ladies team. Plenty of the lads keen to get down and "help out" with training!!

The pies are also keen for a run. Hopefully the weather held out long enough for the council to mow!!

I'd shout if I wasn't ducking off for a wedding come 3/4 time...

Might have to rethink my retirement now that the 5ths exist. Sensational news oldman!

I'll say sorry to the UK boys now, despite letting the council know we had a game on they deemed it to wet to mow so the grass is a little long.

I will be at a wedding with swoopa but have a good one!

It is a Friday so you can only assume they were home by 10am....

They only finished on top by 2 points. Lost games throughout the year. Only won their finals by close margins.

Doesn't really lend itself to stacking IMO. Deserved premiers.
You should be sour your club got robbed. Your seniors had a good year and only missed out on point difference? And your magoo's were 3rd?Those other 2 clubs seniors were rubbish yet there 2's were guns. Something smells funny

Yeah our Maggos finished 2nd by 2 points. I guess you just play which ever 22 turn up on the day and don't think too much about whether or not they stack. Some blokes play down because of work or family commitments so guess you have to understand that.

Anyway 2013 season is fast approaching and it's gonna be another close one I'd say.

Good game from your boys today Swoop. The lads really enjoyed the hit out today and clear the cobwebs

Very good game before I had to leave to put on the bag of fruit, and I heard the next 5 quarters were also well played by all. Great game in great spirits as always RUL and your boys definitely look like they'll do well (especially without the muck and long grass). Was glad to get a few touches myself. Looking forward to shouting a beer once the club rooms are done.

With any luck, I'll be there to have one with ya, but I go where the club needs me. I'll make sure Oldman1 gives you guys my best regards on the day.

Pretty hard conditions out there today for both teams though. Looked like the ball weighed an absolute brick.

Coomera Seniors were very good as well in the conditions. Used the space marvelously, placed the ball exactly where you wanted it, hit the targets both on the boot and in the hands. Pressure around the ball was tight, didn't allow my boys any clean run or easy disposals. Your number 5 was outstanding on the clearance from the bounce as well.

Really good day with both games played in good spirit.
