A fit Polec will be worth 40 goals next season. The kid is an old fashioned goal kicking/ball carrying wingman, let's hope he gets a full pre season, a hip and knee issue will always make you look slower and less agile than what you really are.

My understanding is that there will be nearly 1million dollars in salary cap space. We will be active in trade week. Not after a big name, want some more quality foot soldiers. A Josh Kennedy and Ben McGlynn type trade situation would work wonders for us!!!!!

McGlynn is a nice little player but I don't think he would make much of a difference to our side. Kennedy on the other hand would be a massive acquisition. A legitimate elite inside midfielder would be huge for our other mids who could then work off him.

I have not really considered us picking him up as I have assumed that Sydney would lock him up but I would certainly be picking up the phone. I would much prefer to give that money earmarked for Tippett to a player who legitimately warrants it. Kennedy as a mid is going to win a stack of the ball and probably kick more goals than Tippett anyway.

I think acuguy was using those guys as examples, rather suggesting we'd be any chance of getting them.

But yes, put me down for Operation Get Kennedy too!

Agreed Kennedy is the best mid unsigned this year and he could be lured North with a big offer, 700K?, and a long term contract. Another player that I would be having a look at is Mitch Brown of the Geelong variety, he is struggling to break into a strong Cats team, especially as a KPF. He is 21 I think and ready to take the next step, plus he would be an 8-10 year option ...

Kennedy is uncontracted and has put off talks until after the season. He is not talked about much but if I was a club he would be the one I would be throwing money at.
I hadn't heard that Kennedy had put off talks. Has anyone linked him to GWS? They'd be prepared to pay through the nose for someone like him, I'd imagine.

I'n surprised to hear that Matt Thomas may be on the outer with Port. Ok so he may not be elite, but geez he is such a hard worker in the clinches. His second, third, fourth....efforts are second to none. His skills aren't that bad either.

I've watched a few Port games this year & Thomas has always stood out, not only because of his work ethic. He is a good link man.

It's no surprise to see Richmond apparently interested in him. Forget about Maloney. I'd love to see us have a crack at Thomas.

Agree with you in Mitch Brown. Shoulder problems though but with some more filling out should help. Certianly wouldn't cost us a lot either. Third/fourth round or change of picks.

Got dropped a few times this season. In the last few rounds he seemed to play as a defensive forward, taking on the opposition's most damaging rebounding defender. Played on Adcock against us and did quite well.

He's a hard worker, but he makes hard work of most things. Similar player to Buchanan, in some ways. Wouldn't mind getting him in the PSD but wouldn't want to trade for him.

I think that he is worth slightly more than that and I would be willing to part with our pick 30 for him.

I just got some feedback over in the Port forum on Thomas. Consensus there seems to be that he is a strong, hard working player who makes poor decisions. Funnily enough, I compared him to Buchanan even before I read your post. Maybe a pass on him. He'd do well at Richmond.

Was over in Perth at the weekend and was talking to someone who has a fair bit to do with Subiaco and he was commenting that West Coast are wanting to get Dan Rich back west. I don't think they have a hope in hell.

Anyway, pick up the WA Sunday Times at the airport and there is a short paragraph re: the above and bringing Rich back west and how effective he would be in the middle with NicNat rucking to him.

In any event, I thought Rich was already contracted?
