Ahh. Okay thanks.

You can have him for one more year.:p
Yeah, not too sure on levels of happiness in Bris, etc. He's a fairly quiet and softly spoken one, that boy. We will get a better idea how well he will fulfill his potential during the coming season.

And then you, too, can have your very own "Operation: Get _______" thread :thumbsu:

Yeh it was mentioned before that you can see certain players have groups and from what ive seen Polec isnt really in a group. He may also miss his twin brother who lives in SA. Please dont go Polec.

Not sure if this is right thread, but Brad Symes was delisted by Adelaide.

Would it be worth giving him a go at Brissy? I always thought he was a pretty handy player.

Koby Stevens has requested a trade. He's from Vic and will probably look to return home (isn't that what's happening these days) but should we give him a look?

I like Koby Stevens and think he'll be a player, but nah to us going for him. If a homesick bloke wants more opportunity in Victoria there's not much point coaxing him to Brisbane. Plus he's more of the insideish type that we have quite a few of (and not the clearance specialist/great ball user that we need).

I'd like us to take a look at him. He hasn't requested a return to Victoria, just to get more opportunities. He fits our age group and I think would complement our midfield nicely with Black's impending retirement. He'd start out right on the fringe of our best 22. But like with all other trades, it depends on the price.
In my opinion, he'll probably end up in Victoria at Geelong, St. Kilda or Melbourne. Those teams need the more inside midfielders and have room in their best 22 for him.

Hey team how's it going? Just letting you know I'm alive. Just had an awesome week at Oktoberfest in Munich (but I'm sure Brisbane/Melbourne are nice this time of year as well) ;)

What I was wondering is if someone could give me a quick update with what's happening with the Lions this offseason? I feel so out of the loop and don't think I can sit down and read 50 pages of trade innuendos! Saw that Drummo retired- a real shame. His body never let him reach his potential.

So anyone care to give a forgotten man a quick one-post recap of all the gossip over there? Who are we chasing? Who's likely to leave? Tippett-any chance? Who are we keen on in the draft? Has Grimreepah become any more bearable?

Much thanks! Hope everyone is keeping well, and

Go Lions!

He's alive! He's alive!

That reminds me, it must be just about time to bump *that* post of yours.

As for trade news tho, there hasn't been a great deal yet (despite however many thousands of posts).

The general vibe re Tippett is that he prob wants to go to the Suns but they're not prepared to offer him what brissy and the crows are, so we might still be in with a shot. He's gone home to 'consider his options' this weekend, so expect an announcement early next week. I suspect a lot hinges on his decision. Lions will have a lot of cap space with which to play, so if he doesn't come to us look for us to be very active in the trade month.

McGrath just re-signed, so that pretty much just leaves Bartlett and ace unsigned as yet.

That's pretty much it for the moment. Look for things to heat up from Monday as the free agency period kicks off.

Come to think of it, it might be a good idea to keep the OP up to date with the latest news...

I think of Symes as a poor mans Adcock. Isn't an inside midfielder, doesn't have the speed, skills or endurance to be an outside midfielder and doesn't play forward. Just an average half-back flanker at AFL level.

Lonergan is 25 with about 80 games. This season averaged 9.3 contested possessions and 4.2 clearances. These stats would put him in the top 4 or 5 out of our midfielders. I think he's be a good trade for us.

Yep. You don't get a lot else out of him but you do get a contest. There's a bit of Buchanan in what he does at senior level IMO. I wouldn't oppose it if we signed him as a free agent.

That Murphy guy from Hawthorne (see, that shows how much I know about him), he's now been kicked out of the team for a second time come GF, wonder if he'd be a bit miffed and may look elsewhere? Is he a type we may look at?

Buchanan left an indelible mark on our reserves team in his three years with us. He was a significant part of the Premiership winning team. With Hawksley, Sheldon and Stiller also being delisted we lack reserve experience and may need replacements if we are to defend the NEAFL premiership. Loneragan would certainly tick all the boxes as a Buchanan type replacement. Buchanan had a far more illustrious career before coming to the Lions but if Loneragan turns out to be half as good as Buchanan we may get some value. Not sure that we should be trading to fill spots for our reserves but you never know, Loneragan could add a dozen or so senior games over the next three years in much the same fashion as Buchnnan did.

I must say this year will be a relative stress free post season compared to other years. Lets hope it stays that way. The fact that the club has all required players signed (apart from Bartlett) at this stage of the season is a huge bonus. Add that to the fact that we have no major player/s wanting to leave (ie Clark, Brennan, Rischa , etc) also helps.

According to various outlets we are interested in
- Tippett (priority) & Silvagni

Players rumoured to be leaving via trade
- Karnezis* (Victoria), Polec* (as part of the Tippett trade)
* must keep

Retired/Delisted
- Drummond & Buchanon (r)
- Hawksley, Stiller, Sheldon, Retzlaff (d)
- rookies: Dyson & Harvey (d)

You would expect the club to re-draft/rookie list Retzlaff if we don't recruit/draft a big key forward/ruckman - as the club is trying to prolong Browny's career by recruiting a big forward to help Browny out up forward.

Club Needs
- Tall Forward/Ruckman
- Inside Mid

I wouldn't trade for Lonergan but I'd offer him a list spot if he has been delisted....free agency allows that.

I think he's got more to offer than simply as a mature body in the reserves - I wouldn't sign him if I thought that he wasn't going to get out of the reserves. But, equally, if that is all he does then it still isn't a total waste. Minimal dollars and a 1+1 contract and I'd take him.
