Unbelivable Matosevic....

Yeah can't believe he won two sets. He didn't choke and showed great mental strength in the 5th saving an absolute bunch of break point before being broken at 3-3 but Matosevic's lack of experience in 5 sets and Cilic's class was too much in the end. turning point was in the 3rd I reckon when Matosevic had a break point where Cilic hit a bunch of shots side to side that Matosevic got before eventually Cilic hit the winner just showing his game is a level above Matosevic. Got to kick on from here, he can make the top 50 by the end year which this sort of play and maybe a nice draw here and there. And maybe he can win his frst grand slam match at AO.

Good day for the Aussies, to be honest none of them disappointed even Gajdosova getting to a tiebreak is above expectations with her form haha... Ebden got a much needed win too, could be tthe difference between direct entry at AO or not.

Just me, or does it really suck with no Rafa?
Ask me that question next week.

Can't see why you'd be missing him now. Unless you get an aberration like Rosol, it's not even worth watching the top 4 seeds play until the fourth round. You'd have to be a completely one-eyed fan of the player to enjoy watching them dust up qualifiers. Dozens of better matches to watch in the first week.

Maybe Nadal will leave a hole in the draw once we get to the QFs, but right now I am just enjoying a ton of great tennis that has nothing to do with players named Nadal, Federer, Murray or Djokovic. This is why I love Slams.

Hewitt not in the schedule for tonight, does he not play until day 3?

Yeah he is one of the lucky men that get to play their first rounder on day 3.

Raonic in a battle in the 5th but no other surprises so far today

Tomic picked up his game slowly as the match wore on, came out very passive and had some questionable tactics throught the match (standing 3 or 4 metres ebhind the baseline to return Berlocq's serve, lulz). Put some more aggressive shot came along and he actually seems to be striking the ball quite well. If he comes in with the right tactics, he can beat Roddick. Hoping for a Friday Night (Saturday Morning) blockbuster on Ashe

Should Bernie really be dropping sets to Berlocq? I'm not gonna complain though, he still won.

Anyway for the Aussies tomorrow;
Na Li - V Dellacqua second on Grandstand
Kamke v Hewitt 2nd on court 13
Lepchenko - Rodionova 2nd court 17
Gallovits-Hall v Stosur - last on Louis Armstrong.

Not sure I'll stay up to watch any of them to be honest. All winnable (bar Casey's match I'd say), but hopefully she can cause a few issues for Li.
Ebden/Tomic dubs are also on tomorrow.

Wow I assumed Robredo had retired..

Edit:Hmm he's only 30 has he been injured?

He's been out for a long time with an injury (it was a hamstring), started playing a couple of challengers the last couple of month and now using a protective ranking

Strange lapse in the first from Lleyton but apart from that he played pretty well, got to make he gets that firsts erve a little higher, Muller next, Youzhny actually might of been the better matchup but Muller will give him target to hit at least, if he plays well he wins it though.

Casey has improved her fitness tenfold, she was looking the best I had seen her at AO but she looks even better, movement around the court is so much better, wasted a 4-0 lead in this set but really is looking liek a tour level player again.

Laura Robson providing the shock of the tournament so far with ending Kim Clistjers career with a 7-6, 7-6 win. Pretty high quality match actually, Kim didn't do much wrong, both were striking it very nicely. Well Done to her on a great career.

Sam is on court now.

The **** is with these crowds, no one there.

And Stosur doing a little jiggy after the win, never seen that before.

Strange day, all the outside courts have been aboslutely packed, hewitt and Dellacqua's matches you couldn't get a seat and there is nobody to see the defending champion.

That shuffle was the most random thing I had seen, but the guy from LMFAO was in her box.

I woke up because I had a dream both Hewitt and Stosur lost (football is the only other sport I've dreamt about before so I spose I'm now obsessed).

Congrats to Clijsters on a great career though. She should be inspiration for Murray coz I'm pretty sure she lost her first 6 or so slam finals before she finally broke through. An absolute champion.

And Stosur hanging around with LMFAO? They are terrible, but oh well....
