Well he is. Nadal is vastly overrated at the USO, it's pretty clear to anyone remotely independent who has watched him play there.

He hasn't won a title off clay in almost two years. I don't know why you think he would have had a snowball's hope in hell of turning it around at what is by far his worst Slam. Oh that's right - you're obsessed with the guy.

So what's your issue?

The guy would have fallen over as soon as he ran into a legit contender for the title. That essentially makes him a non-factor. Of all the top four, he is the one who will be least missed from the draw.

I'm sorry if that offends your sensibilities as a Nadal fan, but it's reality.

Whether he was knocked out in the first round or went all the way is irrelevant to me. I don't know why you feel the need to keep telling me he didn't stand a chance whatever the case.

I just miss his presence at a major event. Is that okay with you?

Shame to see Kimmy go out, always one of my favourites.

Got a good feeling about Stosur in this tournie ...

Certainly not getting excited yet. Just to get out of her 1/4 of the draw she will have to beat Li and azarenka. Don't think she has come close to even taking a set of azarenka in their matches yet. We just have to hope azarenka loses to zheng in the 3rd round.

Nadal would have been 4th favourite and I'm guessing would not have it past the semis. But due to his competitiveness, you can never rule him out.

Gulbis pulled out a good win coming back from 2 sets down to haas, watch him lose in the next round now.

Clijsters ends her grand slam singles career with a loss to Robson, she has struggled with injuries since her aus open win last year but what an amazing comeback it was from her with the US and oz open grand slam wins. She has definitely been one of the few women over the last 10 year's or so I have enjoyed watching play tennis.

Why is the Roddick-tomic match not on today?

Strange day, all the outside courts have been aboslutely packed, hewitt and Dellacqua's matches you couldn't get a seat and there is nobody to see the defending champion.

That shuffle was the most random thing I had seen, but the guy from LMFAO was in her box.

Possibly the first bloke that has come anywhere near her box...

She got the Party Rock shuffle just about right though

Possibly the first bloke that has come anywhere near her box...

yeah, haha, I'll pay that. She almost comes across as having no preference in that particular area, not that i care anyway, just play good tennis, that's all that matters.

Does anyone know why Murray was the only player from his half to play?
Nope. It doesn't make much sense to me either.

Sad to see Clijsters out this early in her last tournament, as I always quite liked her. There was some lovely ball striking from Robson though.

A couple of people agree with me haha.

I'm still watching and that ...but, I dunno, it's just not the same. Even in these early rounds.

This are the comment in this articles

1. Another Rafa article. I think these should be stopped now. Rafa isn't there so why give him so much attention?. Surely, the guys who are there should be given all the attention. Rafa should not be mentioned anymore in the tennis news until he plays again. Let's enjoy the other players who have turned up. May they all play well and may the best guy win.
2.Seems more of a PR excersise for Nadal to keep him in the limelight.
3. I don't know why BR writers are making him a MUST SEE STAR,I AM WATCHING USO without NADAL and I'd have watching it if he was playing. Not a big deal....
4.This is the second time I've read this ridiculous statement (from another b/r writer). It's so insulting to the other players. Why should it be less of an achievement to win a Slam because Nadal (or Federer/Djokovic/Murray for that matter) is not playing? This is idiotic.
Of course Rafa will be missed, as would any of the top ten players. But I should be very surprised if there is much, if any, difference in attendance or viewing figures because he is not there. We all have our favourites, naturally, but surely tennis fans watch because they like tennis?
5.Firstly this is the usopen which is much bigger than any player even rafa nadal
Secondly rafa was never a huge threat at the open
Only won 2010 after facing nobody in road to final and playing djoker who was not the same threat at these days after federer choked
Then next year facing nole 2.0 dominated him totally even you feel he understimated him in 3rd set when he feltbthe match is over
Finally many see rafas game as boring physical game
Btw: i totally had fun reading your article which would have been more suitable for a rafa fan page not a professional one like this

Roddick set to announce his retirement in about 10 minutes. Come on Tomic, make it his last match tomorrow night.

I want Roddick to win now, not surprised at the announcement but a little sad to be honest, entertaining player.

Due to all his recent injuries, Roddick has really looked like a shadow of his former self, so this retirement announcement doesn't surprise me much. A very fine player who in most other eras would probably have won more than just one slam.

Sad to see Roddick go, he's been a great player to watch. If Federer wasn't around he probably would have won half a dozen or so slams. I guess at least Roddick can say he won their last match on tour!

Will be very interesting to see how Tomic will go in this match. I always think he struggles against big servers, but I think he'll get up for the occasion.
