Him and Lleyton doing commentary for AO in 10 years time? ;)
Seven will no doubt squeeze Bwuce, Sandy, Rompingwins or Baz in there.

Berdych turning it on, Fed in trouble. Will Berdych do his best Cilic impersonation?

EDIT: 5-2 double break, Fed really off. Massive misses on the first serve, forehand, two double faults to hand the double break.

Federer out, assuming Djokovic reaches the final will be the new world no1.

He won't be no.1 if he wins the title.

Interesting switch of momentum there in the 4th, for one time Berdych manned up, see if he can do it against Murray now.

Thought it was much closer, I guess that makes sense as Novak had a fair few points lost at Wimbledon.

Very sad to see Duck out. He could sometimes be a brat on court but he was a fantastic guy. Spoke to him at the AO one year and he is probably one of the nicest athletes I've ever had the privilege of conversing with. Very open, honest, funny and doesn't talk down to anyone.

This interview, after losing 6-4 6-0 6-2 to Federer in the 2007 AO SFs, is still my favourite post-match interview from any sport:

Agreed, Roddick has this reputation for being a brat on court but walk up to him and you will never hear him say "not now", he is one of the nicest guys on tour always having time for fans, and unlike Federer he actually bothers to do the simple things, may not seem much but I always remember him signing something a few years ago and talking to this kid who wouldn't have been more than 10, and he walked away happy....then Federer comes on an goes and brushes the same person away.

Roddick was an amazing player and it is unfortunate as in any other era would have had 8+ Grand Slams.

Fed not playing that match against Fish stuffed him up I reckon. Maybe it would've been ok to have a w/o during the first week, but in the second week against a player who has traditionally troubled him was a recipe for "disaster" (for want of a better term).

Also Stosur got some sportsmanship award from the USTA.

Haha... 'We spoke about a lot of things, but we didn't discuss what to do when down 4-6 0-6 0-2. Oops.'

The Fedtards are out in force, the old bloke had 4 days off, he should be well rested FFS! Maybe, just maybe give credit to Berdych who absolutely owns Federer most of the time, as this is not the first time Berdych has thrashed Federer off the court

He can be a nice guy off court all he likes. I'm sure Berdych is too but you jumped all over him. It's not good enough when younger generations are looking up to him to act with such arrogance and petulance. Same goes for Serena.

Actually, Berdych is poorly regarded by other players on tour. The reason I don't like him isn't because he has a temper, it's because he treats his opponents poorly.

Roddick does nothing more than question a few calls (rightly) especially the one at the US Open where he had a play at the ball. What do you want him to do, prance around showing no emotions?

lad you said it Berdych is an absolute prat and a half, great to watch though. Runs with his girlfriend Lucie Safarova, they are both as bad as each other!

Would like to see him show an ounce of respect towards umpires.

Why should he when they get it BLATANTLY wrong, all players accept 50/50 calls but the umpires only deserve respect when they make the right decisions especially when they are obvious

Wow, can see why you like him then.

I certainly prefer players to be more circumspect in their interactions with officialdom. But as you can see from that interview, Duck is a player who is if nothing else 100% brutally honest and he wears his heart on his sleeve. That's just the kind of guy he is, and on balance I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing.

Some of his outbursts have been pretty distasteful, no doubt, although I have some sympathy on the multiple occasions where his gripe has been about court conditions/safety. It also must be said that he has never threatened an official a la Serena.

Overall his on-court behaviour certainly isn't a positive aspect of his career, but I think that dismissing him on the basis of it is pretty myopic and one dimensional.

Certainly wasn't dismissing his career or anything, I just don't like the guy. It's funny how we pick our favourites though isn't it? The womens grunting doesn't bother me, I could equally say dismissing them on that basis is pretty short-sighted.

Not really comparable. I don't 'dismiss' Sharapova because of her grunting. It's simply a watchability issue. The noise makes a match unpleasant viewing, therefore I don't view it.

Hold your horses, I am absolutely not a "****" or "stan" (except for Hewitt....) of anyone. I am not taking anything away from Berdych at all, I said he's troubled him in the past, just that I don't think the missed match would've helped Roger's cause in terms of match play and momentum.

Turn it up, honestly it is the lamest of all excuses. Roger still would have been thrashed had he played the last match, Berdych LOVES playing him and thrashing him. Not playing the last match would have helped him at his age anyway as lets be honest he is going on old legs.
