Khan Haretuku was a former St.Kilda rookie, probably wasnt ready at the time. At 22, he is more ready to play now than he was as an 18 year old.
has played predominantly deep forward, but has showed his talents as a ruckmen with a 15 hitout, 4 goal effort against Geelong in round 4.
A big strong prescence up forward, his ungangly kicking style looks awkard, but effect (14 goals, 6 behinds).
At a glance; Khan Haretuku
11 possessions per game
2 goals per game
1.5 contested marks per game
4.5 uncontested marks per game
5.5 hitouts per game
Leigh Osborne is an interesting one, really came out of no where this year for the Dolphins, he has been the defensive general down back. a neat kick, his run and carry has been a feature this year. not a big guy, but will not shirk a contest and put in 110% every time.
At a glance; Leigh Osborne
18 possessions per game
2 marks per game
3 tackles per game
Kyle Martin has been the best Dolphin by a mile this year. Averaging 24 possessions a game, Martin's ball use has been a real feature, running off a wing and playing on ball. I did catch the state game, and that high half forward was a different role he has played at Frankston. A tidy kick who makes every possession count, he is one player who has certainly started the year off in searing form..
At a glance; Kyle Martin
24 possessions per game
4 marks per game
4 tackles per game
Hey Knight, while your here, what ever happened to Tom Sundberg? thought he was a shoe - in the get drafted last year, but has literally fallen off the map in 2012.
Anyone else you were impressed with in the state game yesterday? (cough, Adam Marcon cough?, Michael Musicka cough, cough)
Thanks for the summary. Much appreciated.
By any chance do you have a list of measurements for the Frankston trio?
I really enjoyed watching them. All looked very draftable and all really surprised me.
On Osbrone what is he like defensively? He is a pure offense guy or can he also play a lock down role if required?
Marcon showed up and produced. Baird was great but shame he isn't on an AFL list this year. Galea showed some but looked to struggle at times against a taller defender which would worry me at AFL level but none the less did plenty of good things. Pendlebury read it well as always down back. Cook was fantastic and have to agree with those saying that he should be on an AFL list. Towes impressed me also. Cain was solid as a forward as always. Hartigan while his kicking was really poor on a number of occasions I'd still have some confidence in. Dwyer and Plemming produced as expected and showed they are both worthy of positions on AFL lists also. Really even contribution from the VICs but I did find myself leaving with a few more names of legit guys who can play and a number of guys I just haven't seen before which is always pleasing and probably a sign that I should pay more attention to the VFL.
As for Tasmania mostly Musicka - have to agree with Chris25. The guy can play. I'm sorry for not paying more attention to him last year to be honest. Looks like a player and if he can continue his development this season and put together a strong 2nd half to the season I suggest he will be on an AFL list. Cox also impressive.
Don't know what the story is with Sundberg this year. Hasn't played a game yet so I can only assume he is injured. He had a very strong season last year so it's disappointing not to see him out there this year.
