Of our current list, only Embley, Cox and Glass (all 30) are over 28. Mind you the Blues only have one player over 28, the 30 year old Scotland.

Although I do agree that despite losing twice to us in 2011, and finishing 2.5 games behind us (a significant margin), they are more likely to finish top 4 this year for the reasons given.

Firstly would like to say i love watching the eagles play, alot of exciting talent. Your rucks and big forwards are very enjoyable to watch.

Now as for 2011 i feel your top 4 finish has a slight asterix on it as you guys had a pretty good run in the fixture as you didnt have to play many top 8 teams (obviously fixture can be luck of the draw depending on which teams play well).

I also thought it was your older core players which led the revival as they A. were playing for once and B. playing well. As they are all 30plus generallyi believe you guys will experience a dip in the next couple seasons (lets say finish 10th) and then come back and be a real flag threat for a fair few years when the young brigade along with big J Kennedy being a monster fwd.

See I disagree with this as 2 of the teams we played twice and that dropped out of the 8 (WB and Freo) were finalists from the year before. You have mentioned in your post that it can be luck of the draw, but our draw didn't look that easy at the start of 2011. We beat almost all the teams below us on the ladder last year and went some way to putting the WB and Freo out of the 8 by beating them both twice (not the sole reason by any means).

I think Carlton are looking great for a finals tilt over the next few years, but given they are a finals contender in the making with quality in their team, they were beaten twice by a team that finished last the year before and entered the year with little confidence and only a handful of proven players. My point is that although I think WCE will not do as well in 2012, I think Carlton supporters may want to brace themselves for some torrid WCE v Carlton matches in the future because the fixture last year is not the reason we were successful.

Rant over. Just sick of opposition supporters thinking the draw is the reason we did well.

The draw was mostly irrelevant because we beat 2nd(Geelong) plus we beat 5th place(Carlton) twice. Carlton only had one win against the top 6 and that was against the Saints when they were out of form at the start of the year. They lost against the Saints in rd 24.

any draw where you have to travel every second week is not an easy draw.

thats right I said it!

and you said it well!!!..a very good point some should take on board, without mentioning other states..
also,'eagles2014'...i agree,it is frustrating to hear that same argument/reason marched out all the time-along with 'an injury free run'-we had injuries (most teams do)and we had injuries esp.towards the finals-rosa,smith,NN,cox etc..

its like they dismiss any internal development,as though clubs can just coast along to the top 4 on the luck of the draw, and only a few injuries..i always thought skill, talent, team dedication, application, coaching, all those factors and more come into it?

Re: My fairytale season

Round 1 for me is a huge game against the Bulldog away but we win.
Round 2 Melbourne- Home is WIN
Round 3 GWS- Away- WIN and Kennedy kicks 12 goals

Three games in for three wins- looking pretty good:thumbsu:

Round 4 Hawthorn Home- their equal to us we win in nail bite at home.
Round 5 Richmond Away- Another close game but win with more quality.
Round 6 North- Home- Kangas surprise us, but we get the points, we could of played better.

Six wins now- getting scared:thumbsu: we are now First on the ladder.

Awesome effort so far!! Really hope your predictions keep coming true :thumbsu::thumbsu:
