If you do believe in it you will be chastised on here for having an opinion that differs from the masses and open yourself up to ridicule. I don't think you will get many posters that will admit they believe something serious will happen in 2012 regarding the planet.

I believe what the Bible says in regards to the current world situation being the signs of the last days. 'Wars, rumours of wars, famine, pestilence, Earthquakes in diverse places. Not necessarily that 2012 will be the date as Jesus said that nobody knows the time except for God, not even Jesus himself. The Mayans may have gotten lucky on their guess, who knows.
They are my beliefs, and if somebody finds issue with them just because they differ from popular opinion they can come at me brah. Just makes me question why they get so sooky about it. Subliminally scared deep down or something?
If the Bible, being written thousands of years ago can correctly predict and depict occurrences from the past couple of centuries such as the emergence of America, Hiroshima bombing and even predict the nation of Israel's end of captivity from Turkey down to the exact year (end of WW1) in the book of Daniel then I'm not going to rule out what seems to prophesy reflected in the world's current situation.

I am not scared for the end of the world because I'm a christian. Anyway, as DB said, this is just the next date people can predict the end of the world, 2000 was the one before. After 2012 people will find another date. There is no way I believe as a Christian to physically guess the end of the world.
No, no don't listen to me, listen to Stephen Hawking who is apparently the smartest man in the world and thinks he knows when the world will end.Although I don't think the world as we know has much more years left (Jesus said the world will burn, GLOBAL WARMING people ) and it may end in 2012, it could end before you finish reading this post, it could end in a billion years but I believe not with any relation to the Mayan calendar.

Agree with r dub 110% this kind of thing shits me to tears. The defence to any logical reasoning is: 'because i'm a christian'.
It was so ****ing annoying during high school, and the same thing still applies now but hopefully not so much - when people are brought up as christians and they rabbit on about their belief in god when they really know sweet fa about the bible or even any of the beliefs christianity is based on.

The worst bit to me though is how many christians think you have to prove god doesn't exist, that there is no heaven etc.
No, i'm starting with an open mind and am not particularly persuaded either way. You tell me why the **** anyone should believe there is a man in the sky who can basically do whatever he wants with the world, who was the inspiration behind texts that are being shown up to be more and more incorrect and who can apparently hear the thoughts and prayers of every man. Why should anyone believe/respect/love anyone/thing/entity who demands your worship and complete devotion - in fact blackmailing you into doing so with the threat of a fiery stay in hell otherwise.

I don't mind if you believe in god/any religion, just don't act superior because you 'have faith'. And at least have some form of reasoning for your choice of religion, it's silly to believe in anything without some of it.

That makes no sense though, because 9-11 it follows the American convention of month then day, while 3-10 is day then month.

Unless you're talking about the 9th of November 2001, but AFAIK nothing really important happened then...
