What's it look like?

Do we bank on a better run with injuries and expect improvement from there?

Does the side change its game plan?

Does the club devote more resources to development to reverse some of the stagnation exhibited this year in a number of players?

Do we trade for a player? What do we draft? What's the long term need we need to identify?

What's the path to the premiership? Where do you see it? What do you see changing?

Maybe the question is what is the first priority.

Fix the shortcomings in the coaches box/fitness-injury toll area?

or

Draft/trade for what we REALLY need??

Whats the burning priority??

We need to do every ****ing thing possible to make sure Pavlich is a permanent forward in 2012. The midfield needs to be able to function whilst winning clearances without Pavlich having to go in there. At the moment our biggest problem is going forward, we get there and go to shit, we need that go to target in Pavlich.

Honestly think if we get a good run with injuries we can still make a run at top 4, need to draft genuine midfielders in my opinion, no more outside flankers.

Don't run down Sandilands, he can't handle the 85-90% ruck position, maybe we will learn the 3rd season around.

Possibly look at getting Bower, a much better option in defence than guys like Ibbo/Duffield.

Looking for a possible premiership line up, I can only see these players playing

Grover Mcpharlin Ibbotson
Broughton Silvagni ______
Hill Mundy _______
Fyfe Pav _______
Balla ______ Mayne

Sandi Barlow Morabito
Mcphee Suban Deboer Clarke/Griffin

Even though that interchange is suspect, I still think they are good for interchange. We need those sort of grunt players to play the way we would like to. I know who I've left out - I don't think they'll make it, or are past it, and we should be looking for trades/GWS.

We have get some trades done, otherwise we could be waiting a while.

What do we need? 1 Tippet/Dawes type FF, 1 Steve Johnson type HFF 1 Davis/Yarran type HBF/FP

If we can, we just need more strong body midfielders that want to go in and get that footy. With a full side we'd go alright at Subi, but in September we'll crumble.

Does the side change its game plan?

What game plan?

We need to overhaul our fitness and conditioning staff, plus the coaching group in general.

Hopefully we trade out older hacks like Crowley, Johnson and Duffield rather than giving up on some of our young players too early.

I wonder how much we will go down the mature age recruitment path again, especially given the shallow draft pool, potential for GWS trades and losing a few players off the rookie list.

Any ideas as to who the PSD target will be this year, Bower perhaps?

Above all we need to get playing as a team again - to play to a set plan and structure, to know where each other will be etc. Has looked too often like a group of individuals on the field rather than a team.

Found this one today (surfing the net is easier than watching the game)

A new forward line coach and a settled group of players to play forward. A plan and a structure to the forward line so that we can cap off good passages of play with goals. Too much of our forward line this year has been makeshift and experimental, we must have one for the lowest ratios of scoring shots per inside 50s because the forward line is mostly neglected and left to chance.

I'd agree with that, but it's not our top problem. We need to get it in there A LOT better too. Forget ratios, we are the 3rd worst Inside 50 team this year. The only teams that average lower inside 50's than us are GC and Port!! That is really really poor and basically means that you can put Pav, Jack, Mayne, heck even Garry Abblet Snr down there and we're going to struggle to kick winning scores.

Now a 1st team midfield (Mundy, Barlow, Sandi etc.) would help, but I think we could be better organized in the middle too.

2011 is over. For me, no point focusing on the negatives, what's the point? Im looking forward to the 2011 ND & the jaeger draft.
Which draftees will be on our shortlist for our first pick in the 2011 DRAFT?
Will we pick best available?
Will we go for a KPP or an inside mid?
If we get jaeger, I can't see us selecting an inside mid.
Is the jaeger draft before the 2011 ND?

Some decent assistant coaches. For example, if Bassett is on the market for example, have a good look at him, as well as other potential quality assitants.

Overhaul the fitness staff and get personnel that aren't going to make out players as fragile....

Forget the cosmetic changes like changing the club's song.

indeed ! Our coaching staff needs big help !
Harvey has got a year to go, and I reckon it might be good to bring some pressure on him.
Scott Watters might just be the first real Freo person to coach Freo !

Morabito, Barlow, Faulks, Pitt etc can get a full preseason.

Fyfe, Clarke, Hill, Pitt, Faulks, Roberton etc can get in the gym.

We definitely need some more time in the gym also throw Crichton, Walters, Houghton and Mellington in there.

Priority for 2012 is to not get Long term injuries to key players.

Oh and do not trade our picks as our recruiting has been very good since 2008.

Yeah dont trade away our picks all the best teams are built from the draft we should stick to this policy it wont pay out immediately but in the long run you have to build and develop a team together not trying to quickly fix problems with other teams rejects.

i think we must do something to appease the footy gods
maybe a big bonfire down at south beach where we could sacrafice a rookie

Yeah, it's called 'play uncontested footy looking for the fast break from a pack when we kick it to Sandi/Fyfe'.

Interesting - such a plan has not been apparent to me, would require far more structure and planning than I've seen in the last month. For a team that's plan is to avoid contests we seem to accidentally stumble around creating a lot of contested footy in our own backline - especuially from our kick-ins...

We create contested footy because we can't hit a target. Doesn't mean that's the style we want to play.
