Are KPPs and midfielders the only type of player you can have?

No gun ruckmen available at 14 (and they ended up getting Lobb anyway) and they have plenty of tall defenders and have enough gun midfielders to fill flanks with them. As I said. Theyve got too much of everything. Why not draft the 2nd best KPP in the draft who'll retain his value a lot more than than any other player position.

Plus theres no guarantees Patton will make it coming off a 2nd knee. Or Jaksch.

Port fans over the moon with Jarman Impey....... #Meltdown

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/pick-21-jarman-impey.1041870/
I was more than a little surprised that we passed up on Battersby but overall really happy with our selections.

The Bound For Glory 2013 Final Under 18s Power rankings had Riley Knight at #1 and Matt Crouch at #3, but then Battersby was #5 and wasn't drafted.
Well Rowie said (for the third year running) Port had the steal of the draft. Not sure which kid, but calling "steals" is so stupid.

You can only judge bargains in 2+ years time IMO. Players slide for a reason, it's up to them to show they're better then where they fell in the draft.

they took needs over best avail imo

do they really 'need' him with players like Neade, Wingard and Gray at the club? If you were talking about crows then I would say a big yes but at port? ehh...

He still looked alright from the footage I watched of him, hardly something to be moaning about already. But then again thats your typical bandwagon port supporters for ya ;)

It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. I won't list the players available at 14 but I reckon Polec could prove to be quite expensive

I will admit during the trade period I did feel Ports bidding war antics did smell a bit of lets trump the crows at all costs. 14 was way to much for Polec even if they did get pick 21 back.

From what I have heard is he is earmarked as a line breaking half back flanker.

Don't forget they went from pick 34 to pick 45, also.
And took a big promising SA key forward that I'm pretty sure we would have been interested in at pick 45.

Anyone suggesting Port paid too much for Polec before he plays a game is just trying to make themselves feel better for us losing out.

I love how your post is based on a negative assumption you have no way of supporting.

Honestly, why not just make you signature a disclaimer that any thing you post that has a positive connotation does not condone the actions of the board?

Is that a new quoting technique I'm not aware of?

As for your post, it's drivel. Okay maybe I exaggerated when I said everyone but there's been plenty on here who as soon as we missed out on Polec went into damage control. Now they are bagging the Polec Impey combo for pick 14 without either playing a game next season. It's too early to call which leads me to ask the question why are they calling it? Any suggestions for their motives?

You see.. That is the attitude that I think is wrong.
We take Crouch with pick 23 and some people complain that we picked the wrong player and that, if we had pick 8, we could have had Aish.
Port pick 45 instead of 34 and, instead of asking "what did they miss not having pick 34", you say "they took someone we MAY have been interested in".
It appears to me that there is too much "Port do better than us" regardless.

Regardless of what penalties we have had to pay, the envy should only be one way. And that is Port always envying us. Not the other way around.

Port have not been shy in declaring they needed another big key forward, I'm not an expert on the draft but were there any that went from pick 34 to 45?

Those questioning of the Crouch selection is more to do with the fact we need outside run, not criticising Crouch.

If we had pick 8, had we chosen Crouch it would have been a mistake because we've shown we would have paid too much.

Stock standard human nature? When is yours it's better.

My post wasn't drivel, it wasa way that may allow you to move on with your life and stop looking for a negative view point.

Funnily enough i don't rate nor support the current board. But positives can still be found

The thing is I wasn't even thinking of our board when I posted that. I just don't believe we can judge whether Port paid too much when we haven't seen either player play in Port colours yet. That's not a positive or a negative but a dose of reality for those that are trying to find positives out of nothing. If that makes me negative then I'm confused.

Recall Rowie wetting himself in the lead up to our first pick, and did not seem to have any idea at all about any Port's players - couldn't say much about Impey when he was drafted, ant it also came as somewhat of a revelation that Harvey was related to Matt Rendell. Probably the most cringeworthy part was them interviewing Kade Kolodjashnij, completely missing that his twin brother was being drafted as they were talking.

Can't recall if they spoke to Aish, but Scharenberg didn't sound all that enthusiastic about going to the Pies.
