Hey guys, can I ask where you people find out these challenger/ITF results?

Also Sara Tomic is making a fair bit of progress in juniors. Long way to go yet, but hopefully she's learning a thing or two about what happens when your attitude sucks faecal matter.......

If our on twitter follow Aussie tennis results. Keeps you up to date. Otherwise I just go on the itf website.

Aussies are in Leon this week on the hard courts. John Milman is seeded 5th and beat wildcard and world number 560 6-3 4-6 6-3. Bit worrying that scoreline. Matt Reid lost to Bobby Reynolds 6-2 4-6 6-1. Sam Groth plays qualifier Franco Skugor while John Patrick-Smith just snuck in as a lucky loser and plays Amir Weintraub.

We have some seriously good juniors coming through judging from the boys final at this years Aussie Open. In five years time we will be right back up there I reckon.

I think we should always be cautious regarding junior success (most people are anyway). The likes of Todd Reid and Chris Guccione were pretty good juniors from what I can gather, they never really got anywhere (I guess Gooch did ok to get to 60 something in the world). Hell, even Bernie might still not "make it" the way he should, or we'd like. Luke Saville has pushed his ranking up but hasn't really done too much to fuss about as of yet. Otherwise I hope you're right though. Kokkinakis pushed Verdasco in that set in Perth, Kyrgios seems to be having deep runs into pretty much every tournie he's in. Barty probably looks our best bet out of everyone at the moment as she's started taking sets off well ranked players.

What is Kyrgios up to since the aussie challengers dried up? Preparing for junior french?

Been training and I believe he is in a few Chinese future events coming up starting this week

Ash Barty is playing a 25K tournment in he states in green clay. In the first round she won in 3 sets. Then beat Zhang in straights. Then beat Sharon Fichman in the quarters 6-0 6-0. Her opponent didn't even get to duece.

Krygios lost in the semis to world number 171 Di Wu. 6-3 4-6 6-3. Not a bad effort.

whoever is doing bartys schedule deserves a big applause. so good to see an australian grinding it out on the itf tour worldwide than chalking up easier wins in aussie 25k when they come around

Kyrgios through to another final in China. This time he takes in Boy Westerhof. Hopfully he can finally take out his first futures tittle. It's also his 18th birthday today. This will be his last tournment before RG.

His stint in china has been impressive, 2 Finals and a semi. Going to be interesting to see if TA takes the shot with him for the RG WC. personally I would hope they give it to Millman and save the US Open for Nick but we'll see.

He won that final too, watch out for this kid.

A challenger in China that a lot of Australians are playing, including Matty Ebden who finally realised he should play at the level he belongs at, he is the top seed though. Looks he might play Guccione in the 2nd round for the battle of the mugs.....

LOL. Surely Gooch just plays for Davis Cup purposes? Maybe he should try to become a full time dubs player. Also does anyone remember when John Newcombe made sone comment that he didn't think he was any good and he got slammed for it? Look who was right....

Also unfortunately looks like we can just about put a fork through Dellacqua. Is not even winning at ITF level, looks like that injury she got after doing ok towards the end of last year completely derailed her.

Rodionova also on her way out as well I'd say.

Was also just looking through Jarka's twitter, and she seems to have indicted she split from her coach (Antonio van Grichen I think). Don't know if it means anything, but it looks like Barty is already our next best of the girls....

IIRC Newcombe said that he had the potential to be top 30 but he was too lazy and fitness was holding him back.

I reckon that was a pretty shitty assessment. Sure he serves out of a tree, but Gooch has never had the allround game to rank that high. Newk is still living in the 90s when groundstrokes were optional.

Think it may've been by retirement in Sydney one year. If IIRC it was embarassing how the media were trying to get Nadal to pump his tires up in the presser or something. Also I think Gooch may've beaten Berdych a couple of times as well... Definitely agree with you guys though, not much to Chris apart from his serve.
.
was that on a super fast grass court before nadal learnt to play grass well?

A few Aussies playing this week.

Kun-Ming:
Round 1: Sam Groth Def (5) Go Soeda 7-6(4) 7-6(1)
Round 1: Matthew Ebden Def (WC) Yu Chang 6-4 6-4
Round 1: (Q) John Patrick Smith Def (WC) Bowen Ouyang
Round 1: Matt Reid Def (2) Lukas Lacko 6-3 6-4

Round 2: Sam Groth Def (Q) Laurynas Grigelis 6-4 7-6(4)
Round 2: Matthew Ebden Vs Joeslin Ouanna
Round 2: (Q) John Patrick Smith Vs Matt Reid

QF: Sam Groth Vs (4) Alex Bogomolov Jr

Good result for Sam there beating Soeda who is ranked 114. The win today brings him into the top 200 in rankings. Hopfully he plays the Nottingham challenger on grass he will really be able to do damage there. Matt Reid scored his first top 100 win against Lacko who is ranked 73. Ebden really SHOULD go deep here.

Rome:
Round 1: Mathias Bachinger Def John Millman 6-4 6-1

Clay obviously not the best surface for John. Will take a ranking drop to about 140 now aswell.

Rio Quentente:
Round 1: (5) James Duckworth Def Jose Perieria 6-3 6-4

Round 2: (5) James Duckworth Vs Tiago Fernandas

James coming off a futures tittle in Chille last week. Hopfully can have another good run here.
