Wozniacki robbed right there.
I don't understand why. I know usually if you get a raquet on it they automatically replay the point but she failed to get the ball back. There wasn't time for the call to effect her. That's how it should be umpired imo.

Too hard to call it that way, imo. Who's to say the call didn't effect her? As soon as you hear that call, you back off a little bit. By the vision, it's hard to see, but I'd bet anything that she did internally.

She got the racquet to the ball, so that little bit more concentration/effort could have got it back.

I never used to be but I'm gaining a whole new appreciation for it during this Open. The ratio of gameplay vs downtime is right up there with the most action packed sports and the tension during games like last night is amazing. This thread is helping too, giving me a new appreciation of tactics and the different playing styles.

Interesting because I'm going the other way (losing interest). It seems to me like the game is heading more and more towards a generic style of player. To be successful these days you have to be super solid from the baseline (the reason a lot of the big servers aren't successful), have power on groundstrokes when needed, a powerful and accurate serve and play good defense. The only thing that differentiates between players now in my opinion is mental strength (the best players know how to win).

Most of the matches I've watched at this years open have just been two guys bashing balls from the baseline before one player drops one short and that's the end of the rally. Gets very repetitive after a while.

Jeez how easy is Murray's road to the semis.

R1: Haase
R2: Sousa
R3: Berankis
R4: Simon
QF: Seppi/Chardy

Hmm, it was a first serve wasn't it? It was probably travelling at 150kms maybe more. You don't have time to think you just react. When you consider the time for the linesman to react to the ball bouncing and then yelling out the ball would've been almost on her racquet by the time the call was heard.

Can Wozniacki hit a flat ball? Everything I've seen is a looping, non-threatening shot.
yeah there is a touch of Nadal and Djokovic about her in that she is quite happy to just be a wall and wait for the opponent to make a mistake going for a winner.

Still, you have to be consistent. Shes the hottest player in the top 10 too.

I think it was a first serve, I don't remember now.
In any case, I think she was hard done by. Both from past incidents and what I said in my previous post.
It's too hard to make that definitive call, imo.

Longer the points are, the longer the match goes - it plays into Wozniaki's hands. Hers to lose IMO

Indeed, Kuznetsova broke.

Wouldn't be surprised if Caro didn't break back but, women's tennis is all over the place.
I hope she does. I much prefer Wozniacki over Kuznetsova, regardless of how frustrating it is watching her :p

i think this is why woz wont be the #1 again. Women dont have the athleticism to be a wall like Nadal and Djokovic. Eventually someone who is a shot-maker will get their tails up and hit balls that are unreturnable. I also think Woz lacks a little bit of self-belief to play attacking tennis.
