Are you really saying Embley is not in there best 22?? god i hope i read this wrong - That will take the comment as the most absurd of the day.. but you are entitled to your opinion
I don't think its totally absurd. I think he is in a similar position as Didak. Still top 22 but age is catching up and a slow start may find him just on the outer. He'll be one I'll keep an eye on over pre-season to see how he is tracking.

you make a good case - but i can guarantee come finals time he will be playing (assuming injury free) - he just tears teams apart when right, Worsfold loves him in a way that is bordering on illegal. I would still say he is best 22, in front of Hill, Butler, Rosa and A.Selwood

Embley is competing with Rosa and Gaff for the hard running, linking wingman position at West Coast. I think it's a coin toss between Embley and Rosa, picking Gaff will be playing for potential and I think he will get a golden ticket because of it. (That's not to say he won't be very good, but at 100% fit I would choose Embley ahead of him in a one off choice, purely for the experience he has.)
I think A. Selwood lost his position when S. Wellingham joined the club, not Embley.

Looking at that team. Id have Masten HFF replacing Nicoski. Embley replacing Selwood and one of those 2 as the sub.

I think a lot of West Coast supporters have a certain Embley turnover stuck in their minds. Many on the West Coast board have mentioned the idea of Embley as a super sub but i have seen no indication from any of the coaching staff that this it will eventuate.
Like many i believe Embley will be well suited to the sub position because of his versatility and his goal kicking ability. It does not mean he will be used in that role. Worsfold is very old fashioned in his selections, if he is fit then Embley will be in the starting 21.
I also read an article about Gaff being developed in different areas of the ground which helps Embleys cause.

Theres also the thing called "never having your best 22" which will help Embley. Id think hes fighting Rosa for an initial starting spot but both are best 21.

would maybe go as far too say rosa and josh hill are not 'locks' for best 22
that's an extreme view though
If there are so many players close to the edge, I think its fair to say that the best 22 could be a bit rubbery round the edges.
As such its probably risky to start with one of the players in that category unless you dont mind them being in and out and subbed a bit.

He's been training with the midfield group this year and has improved vastly in ever aspect of his game.
He won't turn premium, but to say there's nothing of value in a player like Atley is just plain stupid.
He'll fit nicely into my 'sister's' team, I think.

If he is fit, he will push Hill out of a spot IMO.
Very unlikely early.
Hill is a different player at West Coast and very much entrenched in the 22, and Dick was solid in WAFL.
They'll fight for a variety of spots in the fwd line, most likely will need an injury to come in, will be high on the list to replace the 22.
