anyone see Suban in the midfield racking up the points and offering good value?

Played well in the NAB and definitely played through the middle in both games. Has trimmed down a lot over pre-season, so could be in for a mid field role this year. Only question is he played mid with a team without fyfe, mundy, crowley...so will he remain in the middle when these guys return? I think he has potential, was very impressed with his first NAB cup game vs geelong that is for sure!

Newy has trained all pre-season as a midfielder and played forward in our intra match. He will no doubt play some footy in defense but I think the idea is to free him up a bit this year. I'm waiting to see it myself in the NAB and how he performs though.

not bad for someone who hates them and does not care what they do

I hate them because i am a Collingwood supporter (1980 still hurts) i also hate them because they have the best club song by the length of the straight and i find myself singing along even when we lose (jealousy).
And i dont care what they do - just as long as Cotchin, Maric, Martin are fit and firing. Back to the Newman question, in terms of mid-field - how much time do you expect he will get in there? Given, Lids, Cotch,Tuck,Foley, Houli, Matrin, Grigg,Conca, Lonegran, Ellis (being touted as moving up the ground), Nahas, - Not sure if there are any rookies who will press for a spot. I just dont see the opportunities arriving for Newman to return to his glory years of SC scoring from 2 years ago (where he was my first picked defender previously)

I find it best to ignore who you like/dislike for these sorts of contests.
Its like placing a bet. Yeah I might like gold coast better than Collingwood, but if I had to bet money on a match outcome.......

There are still a few others floating around at his price anyway

And that doesnt mean he wont play round 1, who's to say Adock is privy to every machination of the coaches' minds

And if not perfect downgrade target midyear.

You'd think he'd have a pretty good idea being co-captain.

Melbournes best 22 will be very volatile due to the mass recruiting in the off season. I would not expect them to settle on a best 22 until at least round 5 or 6. Buyer beware.

Absolutly but if named round 1 than its gonna be hard to pass up especially Terlich by the looks of it.

The same can be said about Port
They have added Pittard, Wines, Neade, K.Mitchell, Stevenson, Monfries, Hombsch who all look good chances for round 1 birth. However port have only lost D.Pearce,B.Jacobs and Chaplin. The math just aint adding up.

They'll be tanking by then anyway.....;)

It creates an interesting problem. How many Port players are too many ? Particularly rookie types....

Also due to the early games being Adel vs Ess, Wce vs Freo i dont see many rookie options from those teams just yet. Then you have Carl vs Rich and still not many from there but if any rookie is named from these teams, do you take them and lock them away or do you wait for the melb, buldogs, port and brisbane teams. Its quite risky to wait because the amount of rookies you might need, might not have had enough picked by those sides and could leave you short.

I guess this is where the 2 trades will be important this year. No doubt I and others will get caught out with rookies.

Also no captain loophole this year i believe?

Don't forget McCarthy. You can also (thankfully) expect to see less of players like Logan, Thomas, Brett Ebert and maybe even Cassisi this year.

I've had Pittard, Stevenson and Wines in my side since the competition opened. Mitchell, Heath and Neade are all big chances to play Round 1 too. You could just about have all 6 in your side without it being a problem.

did you ever put together that brain fart team? i missed it, i think it was you ?
apologies if it wasn't

Ok, just checked... Need 5 players, have 552K left... Will finish it later and start a new thread on it shortly...
