Anyone else thinking that we will be picking a few Port Adelaide players next years? Wines, Pittard, Neade, Mitchell, Colquhoun....few good rookies going around, and most will get game-time, surely?

Yeah, it seeems a little strange having some DT relevant selections at Port Adelaide for 2013.

Wines, Stevenson and Hartlett are staring at me on my fan planner for now while I will be closely monitoring Pittard in the Nab Cup.

Having 4 Port Adelaide players could be suicide or a stroke of genius.

If Stevenson lines up round 1 and im guesing hes base price than ill probably pick him depending on what else i around and strategy. I just dont think its a good sign for port if hes playing.

Colquohn yet to play against league men, Neade weighs as much as my hand and is very small.

The others are certainly options, i still think Mitchell will be too small but he will play a few games.

What don't you like about Stevenson? Had a very good year in the wafl.

Wouldnt you expect an AFL listed player to have a good year in the WAFL? Hes on an AFL list for a reason because hes meant to better than those WAFL players. "Very good" meh it was good which is at least to be expected, nothing great.

He also played for comfortably the best team filled with AFL players for the last 5 years - that helps

stevenson can play. alot like birchall imo
eagles back 6 was fairly settled the whole year, making it very hard to break into.

his selection though hinges on whether he is a MID or DEF. if he's a mid then there is likely to be a few players infront of him for me

Colquhoun did score impressive in the U18 championships though. 89, 133, 76, 109 & 85. He is certainly a leading option along with
Wines IMO

A lot of West Coast supporters wanted Stevenson to get games last year and plenty wanted him to stay. Very good ball user but when he did play for us he didn't show anything else. He has added size since then. Will watch his preseason closely and he is an option but no lock for mine.

Colquhoun won't get games yet. He's a short, skinny 18 year old, and we just brought in about 5 older defenders in one off-season who'll all get games before him, plus we'll get Pittard back from injury. Maybe next year, or maybe a downgrade target if we get majorly dicked around with injuries.

He's a defender. Have a look at the tweet I linked to.

Hartlett is a huge risk. I love him as a player but he is almost certain to miss games with injury.

How about Dan Gorringe as bench cover? Seems to have a spot in his club's best 22 (in the minds of some GC posters) and is purely there to be a cash cow as the likes of Witts, Daw and Grundy may not get frequent games?

Don't think he will get the games to be good enough cover/cash cow imo. Right on the cusp of best 22, always a red vest possibility and Dixon seemed to fill the role Gorringe played late in the season.

Thanks for the advice. Interesting info but DT next year i short on rook rucks with good JS, with Daw the next best option.

You'd think at least one of Majak Daw and Daniel Currie will play most weeks. I'm considering picking both of them for my bench, so I should have at least one bench ruck every week.
Not many Kanga fans have him in the 22, he is only back-up for Goldstein. Daw doesn't have the best JS either because of their obscenely tall forwardline (Hansen, Petrie and Tarrant) unless he's part-time ruck bac-up. Even so Scott isn't his biggest fan so Gorringe seems like a risky, but decent bet.

This has made me think. In sole benefit for the beginning weeks of the season, would Hartlett provide more benefit and upside compared to God? Not to mention the little $$ you would save. I was pretty set on my defense (Goddard, Gibbs, Duffman, Broughton), but I've never been completely sold on just how Goddard will perform at Essendon to justify the top dollar you would be paying for him.

Does anyone else think that Hartlett could stay healthy and keep his average similar until the bye period to justify this decision? Because I'm positive Goddard will be in the top 6 defenders at seasons end so you will need to get him in at some stage, just a matter of when you do.

does anyone like stanton for next year?
with goddard and zaka basically new inclusions from last year, could help shift tagging attention away from stants.
also seemed to play the last half of the year injured?

Not rolling Stanton, no thanks. He was a disaster last year, too much of a downhill skier and the very definition of an unskilled midfielder. He's no bargain either, 9th most expensive.
Depends on how you look at it, he's also very underpriced if you consider he was averaging 121.84 DT in his first 13 games and is now priced at a average of 106.5 (15 points under).
