I will be looking at ALLLL OF THEM

Staker on the forward bench linked with Broughton in defence looks tempting. Not a lot of good rookie priced forwards this year.

Wouldn't bother looking at Colquhoun, FlowersByIrene. Too many mature-age defender signings ahead of him. He'd have to have a massive pre-season to be in Round 1 contention. More likely to be a downgrade target if anything.

Found the forwards the most difficult to populate, but got there in the end.

Jaeger and Crouch are ridiculously low at 108k each.
Must have's even though Crouch JS is a little tentative

Sunny what is your opinion on
J. Lonergan
He's a big bodied accumlator, going to get a consistent game in 2013??

Definitely big bodied. Some of our posters saw him for the first time just yesterday at the first open training since the draft. He's a monster. Far more developed than the standard 18 year old. I guess that's what happens when you play senior footy (even if it is the TSL) since 15. Check it out. Not just his arms, but his shoulders too. Not seen here, but he has huge quads/hammys too.

The only knock on Lonergan that I'm aware of is his fitness. He'll shed a bit of the puppy fat, but he will still be a mountain at 89/90kg. Anyway, I'm not sure half of a pre-season is going to give him enough of a tank to play more than 15 games at the very most. Depends entirely on how he adapts, how hard he works, etc. etc.

Personally, I'm loading up on him. He may not play all through the season, but he'll slot into the 22 as the tough inside mid we need from day one. Might have a few shaky games in the first couple of rounds, before settling in and rising his price until the bye. That would be the time to offload him. Unless he's injured or something, of course.

Yep certainly Gray and Lonergan 2 big considerations.

Omeara and Viney have to be locks in any sides midfield. Ill still hold out on Crouch because of JS, but i still think hes going to be good enough. Also ad to that probably Wines just about a lock even though your paying the extra coin.

How much is Lonergan?

Varcoe could well be last years Porplyzia, someone i shouldve picked so ill certainly be looking at him closely.

Staker i initially picked in my backs because i just saw his name there, so hes probably one spot for the forwards, i think Tom Lee looked the best of the rest as that mature age type but there were plenty more picked up in the PSD/Rookie draft and late ND that will come to fruition.

Yeah Lee looking possible with limited fwd rookies
Is kpp though... Scoring will be minimal

Lonergan is around 120/130

So far im certainly looking at starting 6 premium/keeper type forwards. Havnt picked Gray but he will be one i certainly keep an eye on, i sorta missed him. I really like 7 forwards including him. Not sure on Broughton and also whether he is best as a forward or back.

For rookies i think ive gone with Dwyer and staker forward.

Not sold on Broughton in either position tbh.

Not sure why so many believe all of a sudden that because he is at GC now he will be back to that no accountability midfield role we all love. Pretty sure it looks like they're grooming 80% of their young squad for that role already.

If anything I can see him as the experienced player he is, being used to stop the bleeding down back which is by far the role he excels at the most. Not so much from a fantasy perspective but statistically he is super effective at locking down the dangerous small forwards.

Fairly certain aswell that I recall him saying in interviews that he prefers that role himself where he is given a task on an opponent.

Tom Murphy was recruited specifically to lock down on the small forwards against GC, though you are partially right. I said in my DT thread on the Suns board that Broughton could well given the run-with role on some particulary dangeroues types, like Steve Johnson. Those that shift between the midfield and up forward. Murphy will take the exclusive small forwards, like the Milne's, Rioli's, etc.

However, I think for most of the time, he's either going to be playing in the midfield or as the sweeper role. Bluey made sure to highlight in particular that he would utilize Broughton as an inside mid, which, even with the aquisition of Lonergan and the injury cloud over Rischitelli, we lack.

Depends on the opponent and injury, but don't be surprised to see Broughton not score much at all some weeks. He's very good as that defensive player, after all.

Still, with all that said, I think he'll score very well. :D Definitely got him in my team.

Thanks for the info mate. Appreciate it :thumbsu:

Also GC recruited along with Tom Murphy, Leigh Osborne who i know very little about but hes mature aged and in DT is a back so i guess thats his position. IIRC a left footer with a nice kick plays a rebounding type role. GC supporters or VFL followers may know more.

Although even if that means Broughton is a midfielder/onballer i still question his scoring ability at GC, because so many seem to be on the bandwagon he could be a good player to leave out. There are plenty of other good forward options around his price and a few backs aswell.

From what I know about Osborne, is that he's a Suckling type player, complete with the long left boot and all. Apparently has fairly good speed as well.

But I would say to ignore Osborne. As he's a rookie, I'm not sure how many games he will get. Very hard to predict when he will play seniors next year, if at all.
