Haha. ;)

Seriously though. I need to search for some more bargains. All they players that I had in mind have turned premium. :/

From a quick research I've done (and most of these have probably been mentioned)

Staker
Knights
JJ Kennedy
Rivers
Bock
Howard
Mccaffer
Wright
Yarran
Luenberger
S. Burgoyne
Byrnes
N Lower
G. Rohan

Seem like early prospect mid pricers...

IMO the game is past Embley. Not sure if fits into WC gameplay and they have more than enough young talent to limit the amount of game time in his old legs.

Just my thoughts, still well priced if it suits yr structure but won't be top 10 for his position.

I don't think anybody picking him thinks he will end up a top 10 mid :bb

rather hopefully someone who can score reasonably well (like he has in the past) and act as a stepping stone to a premo later on

I'm terrible at maths... if Embley (who's priced @ 51) averages 90 after his first 6 games how much $ will he be worth?

Well, he's in my side ATM. Will stay there unless he starts Rd1 wearing the vest.

Anyone have any idea how to work out my question about his price increase?

pretty much this, if he's not in the vest come round 1, he will be in my side.

Nah not me

Hes not Brad Ebert. Ebert showed massive promise in his first year, than his kicking resembled his confidence and he probably wouldve ended up like Tom Swift had he stayed at the eagles with their fans.

This blokes a plodder.
stevensons better than ebert. Elite kick much better pace.

the 2011 Norm Smith medal winner is 6 months older than Embley
never underestimate the old bulls... ROK was a steal last year after early knee issues...

pfffffff

Ebert is miles better just needed a chance. I remember seeing Eberts first year and he was always gonna be an elite footballer with massive leadership ability. He lost confidence in his last year at the eagles for many reasons and wasnt given a chance because of the strength of the eagle midfield and depth and the fact the coaches didnt rate him highly enough. After his last year with port he more then showed his ability.

I dont understand how people rate Stevenson, sure he looks like he might play but hey i could in that port defence they are gonna get romped. Stevenson was a just above avergae footballer at WAFL level hes yet to prove anything. People just think he has upside and potential because of his kick and somewhat questionable speed and hey this is bigfooty everyone is judged on what they can do rather then what they have already done. We should start using the latter far more often. Morabito could be a top 20 footballer but he isnt and isnt even close.

I agree that Ebert is a much better player and was always going to be. I was very annoyed at what WC gave him away for.

Regarding Stevenson though, i can see the attraction. As you said he is a very good kick but he has also added a lot of size since making his last appearance for WC. He was very close to getting a run last year but his competition for a spot was quality. Waters, Hurn and Schofield were our rebounding defenders and he wasn't going to get a game over those. He was in good WAFL form and I believe he will get plenty of games for Port if he can continue on the way he was developing.

He is no guarantee of course and like all others around his price, NAB form is huge but until then he will be in many teams.

Ebert >>>> Stevenson. Saying that i've got Stevenson in my side atm.

As for Embley, I can't see him being a vest candidate early in the season. Smith, Shepperd, Morton, Brennan, Cripps are all way more likely to start with a vest. Then players carrying an injury this pre-season like Naitanui, Waters, Kerr or even LeCras would be the planned red vests. Embley won't get managed with a sub until later on in the season by which time you should have moved him on in your side anyway.

Crow desire burns for Brown

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-02-03/the-time-for-brown-is-now

WITH the retirement of Michael Doughty after Adelaide's narrow loss to Hawthorn in last year's preliminary final it was clear; Luke Brown's time had arrived.

Having played most of season 2012 in the SANFL with Norwood as Doughty's heir, Brown was offered a few tastes at the highest level – making his AFL debut in round 16 against GWS.

The 181cm small defender returned to the Redlegs for the end of the season and played a crucial role in securing the club its first premiership since 1997.

In the background, Doughty shared trade secrets with his apprentice – readying Brown to take his place.

The 20-year-old told AFL.com.au of the respect he has for the recently retired 231-gamer.

"Michael was a great leader for defenders in general and everyone around here," Brown said.

"The way he went about it and the way he went through his career – hard at it, helping out his teammates; I admire him a lot.

"The career he had was amazing, so to play anywhere close to the level he did would be exceptional for me."

Filling the shoes of one of the most underrated defenders in AFL football won't be an easy task and Brown's no dummy – he knows he still has a lot to learn.

But thanks largely to a select few, namely Doughty, Crows defence coach Darren Milburn and Brown's coach at Norwood Nathan Bassett, he said he had the confidence he needed to take over from where 'Dogga' left off.

"In my first year at Norwood (2011), Nathan gave me the confidence to play my way and run with the ball and do what I can," Brown said.

"That was probably why I had a such a good year and got drafted – the confidence to play week in week out with the Redlegs.

"I was in a bit of contact with him (Bassett) throughout last year just trying to figure out how to take the next step and he was really helpful, just like Michael Doughty and Darren Milburn."

Brown has more experience than you might expect of a youngster so soon into his AFL career.

As well as his three AFL games, his SANFL premiership medallion is proof of what is required to forge ultimate success in football.

The lesson isn't lost on him either; he predicted winning the flag would become a vital event in his development.

"Over the last few years at Norwood there was a lot of build up (to the premiership) getting structures right and that sort of thing and there was a lot of hard work to get there," he said.

"I didn't play, but they lost the grand final in 2010 and the year after that we lost the preliminary final, so the whole experience of a premiership will hold me in good stead for the rest of my career I reckon."

While he's Doughty's logical replacement in Adelaide's backline, Brown knows he hasn't been given a golden selection ticket.

Matthew Jaensch, Brodie Martin and Richard Tambling are all said to be in the running for the vacancy and all exhibited sensational form in 2012; Tambling even won Sturt's best and fairest.

Competition for spots is fierce, as it was last year; a great sign according to Brown.

"I've been talking to Sando about the position a little bit and he knows what I want to do and how I want to get it, but he also said I had to compete with those players," he said.

"I know that and it's good for the club obviously because whoever's in the side is going to have to play well to keep it.

"If we keep doing that I don't see why we can't have another successful year as a defensive group and as a team."

Very interesting, will make me think about using him instead of Sam Shaw so I can use the difference and upgrade a medium pricer for another premo.

West Coast veteran in career-best shape

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-02-03/embley-runs-careerbest-timetrial
WEST Coast is expecting Andrew Embley to bounce back from an injury-cursed 2012 and rediscover his best football after the veteran posted a career-best 2km time trial result on the eve of his 15th season.

Embley suffered a shoulder dislocation in round two last season and didn't return until round 20 after having surgery, but his form in the Eagles' finals campaign was strong.

The 31-year-old, who signed a one-year deal for 2013, started this pre-season in the Eagles' remote program, but he has made a statement since returning to the main group.

Midfield coach Scott Burns said Embley and Matt Rosa, who also trained remotely with the senior group early in the pre-season, were in outstanding shape two weeks before West Coast's NAB Cup opener.

"You've got to remember that Embley hardly played last year through his injuries and Rosa missed a fair chunk later in the year," Burns toldAFL.com.au.

"Those two boys, physically right now, are probably in the best nick they’ve been in since I've been here.

"Embley ran a career-best time for his 2km post-Christmas."

Rosa made significant improvement last season, lifting his disposal efficiency and averaging a career-high 23 disposals, but a broken jaw and fractured collarbone late in the season restricted him to 18 games.

The wingman showed great courage to fight back and play in the Eagles' semi-final against Collingwood.

"He's had a couple of kicks in the guts the past two seasons," Burns said.

"He's played some very good football for us, but he's been injured later in the year.

"He missed the finals two years ago and last year came in late after being injured for a fair bit.

"He certainly wants to make sure he's fit and firing for the season to give himself every opportunity to play some football towards the end of the year."

Burns said internal competition among a deep midfield group had seen a lift in training standards this pre-season, with recruits Sharrod Wellingham and Jamie Cripps adding class on the track.

He said forwards Mark LeCras and Josh Hill were both capable of pushing up the ground, while defender Sam Butler could also fit into the midfield mix at times.

"Internal competition's great and it's holding us in good stead with the quality of our training right now," Burns said.

"I would hope in the next four to six weeks that will step up again.

"We know Butler's a premiership wingman and he's looking strong.

"We've got LeCras coming back from injury and we know that he's played some A-grade games in the midfield, so he's certainly got the capabilities.

"Josh Hill is covering the ground significantly better than last year, so he could come up higher.

"We have got quite a lot of depth in the midfield, but it's pretty hard to fit 16 blokes into probably 10 spots."
