Eddie McGuire was on the footy show this morning saying that if we do come last this year we wont get the best picks because 2013 is another compromised draft.

This is in no way a thread saying how i am so excited that once again were getting more picks 1s, but is what Eddie saying correct?

If yes, what are the concessions? Do GWS really get more high draft picks again?

I don't think so, it's comprimised because Martin and Hogan are already gone, which is stupid of Eddie to say that because we already have Hogan

There are no concessions.

It's compromised because Hogan and Martin are out of the draft - it's marginally compromised, there's still plenty of top end talent.

EDIT -

What Blackas said.

It is compromised by the previous Mini-Draft selections, but also there are still clubs that have active compensation picks from when GWS & GCS entered the competition.
It will still be one of the least compromised drafts in the past 4-5 years

It doesn't really matter which picks we get, because whoever comes to us will be a failure

If we to get pick 1 or 2:

You offer one to the Doggies for Ryan Griffen, and another to Brisbane for Redden or to Essendon for Zaha or any mid like that.

If we get pick 1 - we take Aish, unless a star is on the move.

The kid got 25 disposals in the SANFL grand final as a 17 year old - very impressive.

I'd be also asking for their first round pick back as well because pick #1 or #2 is overkill for all of those, I agree with your idea though.

If you did get the a first round pick back with an established gun I'd even try turn around and flip that pick into something else.

Griffen a bit old though, but I get were you're coming from
Griffen's only Buddy and Lids age. Got plenty of good football in him.

He is if we are drafting. Griffo is a gun

Griffen's not achieved much as an AFL player, no chance I'd give up a top 3 pick for someone who isn't a dual AA player.

You seem to act as though a top 3 pick means anything to us. We can't develop them. This year's number 1 prospect is a 72kg midfielder type who we'd fail. James Aish...

I'd rather draft then pay massive overs for a player.

Serouisly a melbourne fan bagging out Griffen now i have heard it all.
I saw you showing sympathy a couple of days ago on the Melbourne board, and now you are obviously making a reference to how terrible Melbourne is.

Firstly, why are you on the Melbourne board more than the bloody Dogs board? Secondly,

Dont think he was bagging him out just said he wasnt worth a top 3 pick. Dont get your panties in twist

For a bloke with one eye socket, I think Griffen is a tremendous player. Tom Lonergan on the other hand...

Don't get me wrong - he's an incredibly dangerous player.

I wouldn't trade a top-three pick for anyone short of an elite player though, no disrespect to Griffen.
