That's my summation of why I don't rate Neville Jetta, and I think most people will agree. It's not a vendetta per se, as Deefolt suggested it was, it's simply an honest assessment of a player on our list.

Only logical reason I can see, in Taylor and Roo's defence they probably haven't even seen him play at AFL level

Also the fact that no other team was interested before our 4th round pick speaks volumes

Nev must be doing something right for the club to keep rating him like this.

Even if he's just a good presence off field and a hard worker, he has value to the club imo.

Come on guys, it's pick 60-odd in a rookie draft in a year that everyone's saying has poor depth.

He works hard and has shown a glimpse or two, with his attack on the ball and movement.

Yeh if he is a good team man and can contribute at training and for Casey, then that is a positive

To be fair, I do like the players who have time for the supporters.

I didn't think we'd re rookie Jetta, but (and I hope this comes across in the right way) with Davey no longer on the list, and a couple of very young indigenous lads in the squad, perhaps just having a well grounded, hard working, older indigenous player around could be beneficial.

Agree. Our aboriginal boys have a strong history and culture at the MFC. It all came from Wrecker Whelan and Aaron Davey imo. The boys stick together and behave very well outside of footy (have been out clubbing with Mr Davey a few times, one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet even when he's pissed). Nev is part of that ongoing culture. I'm not saying we shoudl keep employing him because he's aboriginal, but he has cultural capital to our club in the sense he has pride in the jumper and pride in our history of indigenous players. Even with the Liam Juraah incidents I don't think anything he did happened when he was around the boys from the MFC, or even in Victoria. And nobody doubts the club acted professionally the whole time when the Jurrah situation was happening.

Do you reckon that happens if we didnt have Wrecker and Davey in our inner circle? I'd love to think so but I know damn well that blokes like Pickett, Davey, Whelan etc don't grow on trees either and they've been a massive positive for the club. If Nev has any of that within him, and by all reports he does, then he has value even off field.

Of course I'd love if he had a good injury free run and started to play really good footy - but even without that I'm a fan.

To be fair to Freo, Jeff went to shit after his Dad died, was never the same. Didnt look like he played for the fun anymore, just as a career.
