I think I'm moving in here already. Richy's injury was the tipping point.

With Lester pencilled in for a midfield role, I am not seeing that 3rd tall defender or playmaking defender on our list. Yeo isn't far off the 190cm mark but I dunno if he's the right "type". Docherty seems to me to be less of a playmaker and more of a line breaker.
I'm thinking someone of the Sam Fisher mould or even Luke Hodge. Tall enough to play tall if required but a real playmaker from the back half.

Yeh someone in the Mackie, birchall mould would be brillant, Pattfull is a solid shut type player but doesnt offer A LOT in reboundDefinitely a need for us and is the position I was hoping Wearden was being groomed for. His injury in an out of contract year does make it tough.
Personally, I'd easily give him a one year extension. I think he's shown enough to at least deserve that.

If it isn't the tipping point, 1 more big injury will be. Just when we need to be getting some momentum you get a soul sucking injury like this. This year has been horrible, after what started as such a promising preseason.

And just now, according to Fox Footy Leuenberger is a prime target for GWS when he comes out of contract at the end of this season.
Can it get any worse? Of course it can, much much worse.
, if this news was legit would it be under trade or do GWS still have allowances from the AFL for recruiting uncontracted playersLeunberger won't be going anywhere.
especially after we let go of Grundy as welll, if this news was legit would it be under trade or do GWS still have allowances from the AFL for recruiting uncontracted players
GWS have two players uncontracted end of this season. Nick Haynes (193cm, HF/wing) and Taylor Adams (179cm, 84kgs, inside mid).
I must confess that I haven't seen much footage of GWS. Any of those guys a good fit for the Lions?
I would imagine that an inside mid is high on our shopping list, and we can always find room for a tall winger/forward with nice skills.
Haynes has been underwhelming so far but we were linked to him early on. Adams has been a bit more promising, but neither would be a particularly fair swap for Leuenberger.
Could always pick them up through free agency? Adams sounds good the more I read up about him.
I would. Leuy is such an important part of the team. Has the ability to be a top 3 Ruckman in the comp and I truly believe he will be if he remains injury free. Players like Leuy are not players you just let go for a mid 1st rounder and a young player. Very difficult to find top class Ruckman.Wouldn't mind letting Luey go for a mid first rounder + young GWS talent.
Yeah I understand where you are coming from, but personally I'm not a fan of the Berger ever since I saw him a few years he came across as super soft (which is imo an inhibiting factor in him becoming a Ruck/Forward). Leigh Matthews tried to sort that out but never really succeeded.I would. Leuy is such an important part of the team.
