Not saying that he would be a good fit, I mean the top 4 that have been talked about (Kelly, Aish, Boyd, Scharenberg) all suit our needs a lot better. I'm just hearing a lot of negativity towards getting Billings, but I don't think he would be a bad pick, especially with his skill set.
But of course if we push him to half back, then he could become a weapon there for us.
The problem is he's not very defensive minded at all. Could potentially be a bit like Higgins in that regard.
But I agree he wouldn't be a bad pick up. Would still be happy, it's just I think most people are pissed off it's been reported we would pick Billings over Aish. I'd be disappointed as well.
That can be taught, especially under Macca.
As for Billings over Aish, I completely agree. I just don't see why we wouldn't take one of Berger/Aish/Kelly. Even though I don't rate Kelly, he would fit us perfectly.

Matt Crouch, Dom Sheed or Nathan Freeman will be the three on their list. I imagine that their order will be Sheed, Freeman, Crouch.Does anybody here (that knows more about this batch) have an opinion on who the Demons will grab now they've slipped to pick 9?
I'm intrigued that this years trade/draft decisions could set them up for a decade...or bring them undone. Josh Mahoney stated that the kid they want will still be there at 9.
The best Billings comparison for me has already been mentioned: Higgins. Great kick, good overhead for his size, excellent vision, hasn't yet transferred into the midfield, poor defensively, doesn't win a heap of his own ball, etc. Their style may not be the same but they are really similar players in terms of strengths and weaknesses.I've been on the Billings bandwagon since the beginning. I compared him to Johnson but now that I think about it again, Nathan Brown is probably a better comparison. If we do pick him, I think like Brown, Billings will start on a half back line to get his hands on the ball and use his kicking. Then gradually drift to the forward line and eventually midfield. Hopefully he did some separate testing to gauge his tank.
Also like Brown, I think Billings will prove so effective as a forward, that the coaching staff may leave him there. Not because he is not a gun mid but just because he will be better there than anyone else we have and therefore we are better as a team.
Wouldn't surprise me if StKilda pick him actually which leaves us with Aish.
You normally can't go wrong with dual All-Australians.

yep and like Didak he is tagged out just as easily. Is didak a fair comparison for billings? Never really a full time mid, but devastating on the left when he gets the footy and kicks goals.
I don't mind if we take Billings, as long as it's not ahead of Aish.
Bontempelli, I think we will take boy, big bodied mid, can swing forward or back, gives him a point of difference. One hell of a lot upside to him. A lot of good judges think he will be our pick 4.
