Sounds like Nat Fyfe, how's his marking?
Good from what I've seen, but he's no Fyfe. Some people have even have talked up his potential as a tall forward.

The clear player comparisons here are Anthony Koutoufides & Brett Deledio. Big, Strong, Fast, Super Athletic and complete with a Big, Booming 60 Meter Kick.

Deledio ain't that tall, he's 188 listed.

I know I am going to get a lot of flack for this one :P But I wont be disappointed like most if we passed on Aish at pick four. Whilst he is a good player, and looks a touch classy on his highlight reels (who doesn't?) But just from gather a few things I have read, and what others have said, along with stats. I don't think he is the superstar or as good as most make him out to be. Just a little overhyped. Like I said once, he can struggle to handle a tag at times and has been known to go missing. Plus I think someone posted his average possessions and it was something like 15-16 possessions a game? That's not all great for an inside midfielder. Imagine at an elite level with experienced taggers and bigger bodies.

I would rather Kelly myself if I had to pick between the two, just as talented football skills wise, but also a much better athlete. Averages 27-28 possessions a game, a good kick, great endurance, handy bursts of speed, outside role, and a smart reader of the game. Pretty much a more complete footballer for me, and fills a needs role more than Aish does.

That being said, if Kelly was gone. I probably wont be to fussed if we went someone else either. We already have a heap of young midfielders, who are yet to hit any heights and show what they are capable of. Why do we need another? I'd think we'd go for a best available approach that fills a need. Aish isn't a big area of need for us, compared to other areas of the ground that could do with fresh talent.

Not saying I don't rate him, or that I wont be happy if we got him, because I would be happy with the pick if we selected him. I just don't see him in the same mould as O'Meara and one of those must draft midfielders. I just wouldn't start a riot like most on here if we passed on him.

The only thing I ask is that we draft someone with some meat around their bones. None of these Pray-Mantis like blokes.

I can't get away from me love for Dom Sheed. I reckon he's deceptively quick and he has good evasive skills, a good kick and he wins a lot of contested footy. Perennially underrated in this draft and i reckon i'd just about go with him at pick 4. It'd be hard not to with his distinct lack of weaknesses. I'd compare him to Libba but imo he has a quicker few steps. Empathise with our need for outright speed though and not just another big bodied all round player.

He's my man

Bontempelli to GWS at pick 2 is a big possibility I think. AFL Site suggesting Collingwood will take him at pick 6 if he's available, and GWS wanted him at 9.

He's a bit inconsistent, but I think his potential is higher than everyone in the draft bar Lewis Taylor. Not often you see guys who are 193cm, super athletic and possess a booming kick, and I don't think GWS will want to pass on the chance to take him.
That's pretty much how I see it going. Either way one player will fall to us that I think know we will be more than happy to take.. We really have no idea how the recruiters see it..

I only have questions about these guys, not answers. But, if aish is an outside first mid with the ability to go inside at times, excellent speed, elite level skills off both sides, awareness, vision, and decision making, isn't that what we've been screaming our midfield needs for the last 18 months???

Yes.

Maybe excellent speed is a bit of an overstatement.

I would be going for KK with pick 4 i think he will be a very good player for our needs, If we can get Crameri through the psd, i would use 26 on a drifter from the first round like we did last year with hrovat or get Garlett. and 42 look at getting Brown Thorp or Conlon or Templeton. Pick 60 I would take a punt on Jake Kolojashnij or Zac Webster

hallelujah! thanks prudden someone is on the same page as me.

aish and kelly are 'outside players', but this doesn't mean they're incompetent in the contests. outside doesn't equal soft. it means this is their area of strength. their area of strength is our side's area of weakness (KPF aside).

bob murphy is 'outside', was one of our best player for the year, and the player we're most desperate to replace. gia is very outside, and his impact on the team with his footskills and nous was intergral throughout the year. when the most 'outside' player on our list (tutt) was injected into the side mid year - our performance sky rocketed. we're all gagging over JJ's impact with ihs run and carry (outside game), but he's hardly sam mitchell at the contest.

i think we are all looking for ways to pick apart the top prospects (and blow smoke up mid-draft spec picks' you-know-whats-its).

Don't know if you've been to many TAC cup games...... but there aint much meat on the bones of most 17-18 year old athletes that train/play 3-4 times a week :p .....(Stringer was an exception)

Aish like Bontempelli is also a lot younger than the other kids having been born right at the end of the year. Might not be a huge consideration, but you'd think that they'd have more improvement left in them than the older kids.

And Bontempelli is already up to 193 cm apparently. He will end up genuine KPP size by the sound of that - but with the tank, agilty, skills of a mid. Would be quite happy if end up with him. But gee would be balsy to pass on Aish if he is available.

Agree with all that, i've got a man crush on him too. I reckon this is the bloke that in a few years everyone will be asking how the hell did he slide.... kicks goals, leadership credentials, will be a gun.

Haven't gone down to watch but seen a fair bit on TV/Youtube/BF, but do somewhat agree with you. One which doesn't resemble the Cordy/Grant mould would suit me just fine!!

Willy Riolli has a very entertaining highlights package.
Doesn't look like he has the work ethic to pay afl though.

Really like the look of Charlie Cameron too.

It would not shock me in the least if we took Sheed at #4.... not saying that we will, but I'm pretty sure we rate him.

Pretty sure we do as well, he is versatile enough to play off half back and is a very safe pick. Just think think he lacks a bit of hurt factor and isn't that creative. I think these are the areas we need the most in to go along with composure. I'd much rather look at others.

Not that i doubt what your saying... But reading through his resume.... i'm dumbfounded to think this bloke will apparently slide to Westcoast's pick...Very good Resume for mine.

The classy, prime mover from WA averaged 27.8 disposals in his four outings, eventually taking home the Larke Medal for Division 1′s best player award. Sheed is an incredible talent; and arguably was the best performed and well-rounded midfielder of the champs, who should be rated much higher than some are giving him credit for. Sheed is high production midfielder, easily shakes a tag, has the endurance and football smarts to run all day, and accumulates an elite number of possessions, whilst averaging 13kms a match throughout the championships.
elite ball user, Sheed is damaging on either side of his body, and relishes a one on one contest when resting up forward. He’s a fantastic pressure player, makes good decisions when the heat is on, and when the whips are cracking – Sheed is at the forefront, willing his team on. Rarely ever caught with the footy, Sheed is one of – if not the most exciting prospect in this year’s draft.

  • Round 1 - 32 disposal, 6 marks, 8 clearances and 6 inside 50′s
  • Round 2 - 34 disposals, 7 marks, 9 clearances and 4 inside 50′s.
  • Round 3 – 16 disposals, 4 clearances, 3 inside 50′s.
  • Round 4 - 29 disposals, 6 clearances, 4 inside 50′s and 4 goals
  • Averaged 27.8 disposals, 4 marks, 4 tackles, 5 clearnaces and 5 inside 50′s
Honours

  • Larke Medalist 2013
  • All Australian 2013
  • WA MVP 2013
  • AFL-AIS Academy Member 2013
  • WA Captain 2013
