KK's shown much more in the midfield than Billings has, and I'm a little concerned about some of his flaws as well.

KK was regarded as a 10-15ish pick off half back. As soon as he started playing on the wing, he rocketed up into top five calculations almost immediately, which tells a story in itself. He's not great one on one and really hates to get forced into those situations. If you isolate him on an opponent (which teams will do at AFL level) and force him to defend he's not great. On a wing he isn't forced to defend quite so often and he's much better. It's something he can work on for sure but long term he's absolutely a wingman.

The draft after 30 is completely unpredictable (an article on the AFL website today sums it up pretty well imo) so it's hard to know. As I've said numerous times now though, I don't think we'll use pick 60 and think this may be more of a pick 42 conversation. His problem is that he isn't strong enough one on one to take the top forwards and will likely find his ceiling as a third tall, so some don't rate him very highly because of that. I personally think that, while you shouldn't really say, "Hey, I'm going looking for a third tall defender!" he will play it to a high level in the AFL, and, noting that I don't rate the back end of the draft, think he's a worthwhile selection.

We shouldn't draft based on who we might get or who might develop into reasonable options for us. I maintain that Young is better loose but even if he does come on as a third key defensive pillar, we still need depth in that area. Cordy may not even get drafted - and for all we know at this stage he could transition into the forward line or midfield; we don't even know what his best position is really.
Reckon KK has the potential to develop his inside game enough to play in the guts? Don't know how confident I am on using a top 4 pick on a winger, but I guess if he plays that well on the wing then you cant argue with that. From our late season team if were upgrading Tutt to KK that is definitely a big win. Yeah sounds more like a pick 42 selection, would be happy with that. And yeah true that we don't want to be drafting this year on what might happen next year.

I was reading/watching a bit about Macrae before and he sounds like a really driven person who will do everything he can to succeed and it got me thinking about all our recruits in recent years and you could say the same about all of them. I'd say our pick 4 this year will be the same, just makes me really confident that whoever we take will be the right option in the long run even if it seems a bit strange to overlook someone like Aish now.

Nah that is okay. So would you say that KK has played well in big games?
Better than Bontempelli, who's very inconsistent and has yet to prove to me that he can be a top level AFL footballer. I see too many similarities to Karnezis for my liking. KK's champs possessions were 37, 24, 27, 34 and 15, along with two games of over eight marks, kicked two goals in one game and a bunch of other good stuff. Not bad for a guy who plays almost exclusively outside.

I'm not trying to say that KK is a sure thing, not at all. Nobody is. But he's much more of a sure thing than Bontempelli, who I don't get a lot of the fuss around.

Aish is much more outside than KK - so if you're not okay with spending pick four on KK because he's an outside player, you shouldn't be okay with spending it on Aish.

What and JK will?

Essentially what doggies ftw said. Roughy + Talia + Morris is a great setup. And if we have Talia playing the Morris role we have to find another CHB, and they aren't exactly easy to come across.

Im gonna watch more videos now and just try and look for more things and maybe try and look past the excitement factor i get out of bontempelli.

I think part of me just dosen't want to miss out on a possible replica of pendlebury.. he seems like someone who can just turn into anything.

I guess what im trying to ask is.. why is Bontempelli such a risk and KK more of a sure thing?

Bontempelli has gone missing in almost every big game he's played. At the champs KK excelled except for one game, but mostly he played very well. Took a few marks, bagged a couple of goals in a game. I'm not sold on Bontempelli, I think he will struggle big time in the AFL world. KK will at the very least be an ok player.

Ben Reid.

I'd be lying if I said I've seen Kolodjashnij play, but if we're passing on Aish/Scharenberg for him he must be good.

Ben Reid.

Reckon he'll stay at Collingwood. He seems more of a no-fuss sort of player, and he'll get a deal signed early in the year.

If not, get some money, stuff it into bags with dollar signs on them, and throw them at him.

The Reid's to play key forward and the talia's to play key back. 2 sets of key position brothers with family history with the club. Shouldn't be too hard to sort out. Have it on my desk Monday please j-mac

I think it will depend on what picks are taken before us. I'd be happy with KK at 4 (especially because Clayton is keen on him :D) and JK at 60. Sicily at 42, and that's a good draft.

I dunno why, i think it's because I'm high (prescription drugs) but i laughed super hard at that picture.

Yeah fair enough, anyway I would be pretty damn happy with KK, great position were in, I'd be happy with about 6 players :p

Look I'm the same. I would be happy with at least 6 players. I will say it again.. KK kicking in the video is rather sweet. If we are interested, I would guarantee that it means that he has the desire to meet maccas total football gameplay. I think Macca has the ability to turn him into something special.

To be honest, I think our board at the minute would talk up Macca's ability to turn Zeph Skinner into Gary Ablett.

If James Aish does turn out to have a massive case of 'I wanna go home' we can always swapsie him for Daniel Talia.

Ablett senior of course. He couldn't play like Ablett junior.

By the way, has anyone actually been to Adelaide lately? It completely sucks. Cooney has never had any interest whatsoever in going back. Won't even go back when he retires.

Polec wanted to go home, but Brisbane sucks as well, so he doesn't know any better.

Go-home factor holds no fears for me whatsoever with aish. Take him if he's there dalrymple
