Has some really good qualities, but I have a feeling he won't make a seemless transition to AFL Football. I remember he was very quiet in one of the games I saw (Metro vs Country), and in another, he was a bit hit or miss. He played up forward in both games though, not sure how he goes as a defender. [edit] I'm also pretty certain we won't be taking him at pick 4.

The interesting thing for me is how far the 'leftover' out of Scharenberg, Billings and Aish could fall if we don't take him.

Gold Coast are reportedly keen on KK (a true Clayton pick!). Collingwood want more tall skilful midfielders and supposedly absolutely love Bontempelli. Brisbane may be tempted by Scharenberg but unless they rate Billings or Aish as clearly best available I think they'll take Lennon or Crouch. North are committed to McDonald. Melbourne love Freeman apparently and I can't see them taking a medium forward, an outside midfielder or a medium-tall defender unless they rate them absolutely best available. Collingwood have a second pick and I imagine by then they'll take the leftover.

If Collingwood walk away with Bontempelli and, say, Billings, I'll spew.

I reckon Kelly will be 100% gone to saints. He's exactly the player we need. Then, with pick 2, GWS could take Aish, Scharenberg or Billings. If Aish or Scharenberg goes pick 2, easy we pick the other one. If Billings goes pick 2, for me it's a tossup between Aish and Scharenberg. Probably Aish.

We'd be very stupid to pass on Aish. When a projected 1-3 range player falls to pick 4, you take him without any doubts.

2. Josh Kelly about a 60% favourite, Bontempelli about 25%
3. They'll go Josh Kelly if available, if not, Jack Billings 80%, James Aish 15%
4. Matt Scharenberg & Jack Billings equal favourites here, rounding out to about 60%, James Aish 15%, Kade Kolodjashnij 20%.
5. Kade Kolodjashnij about 80% to go here, Jack Billings about 10%
6. Bontempelli almost certainly if he's available.

Had some info come to me this morning. Probably not surprising, but yes, we are into aish.

Feeling from the chap this morning was that billings and aish are very line ball for us, but that there is a high likelihood that billings is off the board by the time our selection comes.

No, pick 4 is too much of a reach for him. He won't even come into the equation.

I'm not doubting his ability to be a gun, because he could be. But there's been no connection of him to the top 6 picks, he's more in the 7-12 sort of range, and I doubt he's going to bolt up the order this close to the draft.

I'm not so sure really. A lot of people acknowledge that he has the potential to be one of the best picks of the draft and it's just which side has the balls to take him first. Supposedly Melbourne might've taken him at pick 2 if they couldn't offload the pick, so he's definitely rated. Wasn't it around this time last year that Grundy dropped about 15 places also?

Most of the talk thus far is just bluster and hearsay anyway, clubs wouldn't have completely decided who they're taking yet. Could definitely shoot up the rankings - but I don't think we'll take him.

Added AFL national and international talent manager Kevin Sheehan: "He's a creative player who has an innate ability to put the game into slow motion when the ball is in his hands.

Geez, with us drafting few players that have had the slow motion aspect mentioned about them at some point. If we keep this up, watching a Bulldogs game will be like watching a Matrix movie Will take 5 hours to complete.

Personally think you're underselling him a bit.

He's not overly quick, no, but he's also certainly not slow. What he does have is a rare awareness for the game and an ability to find space effortlessly. He's got that dynamic sidestep that you see in Macrae; perhaps not to the same extent, but he still finds his way around opposition players much easily than you'd expect of a player of his stature. His skills are quite good from what I've seen but I would agree that they're not elite. His decision making, however, is superb. Doesn't panic regardless.

Inside forward 50 he's an absolute pressure merchant; he's like a rabid attack dog when he doesn't have the ball and tackles quite well. When he builds up a bit more of a body that's going to become even more of an asset.

But what I like most about him is his opportunistic tendencies around goal. He's very, very crafty and can pull goals out from nowhere.

His ability to apply defensive pressure combined with his goal-sense makes him an ideal project small forward who can rotate into the midfield.

Will he be a star? No, but in a shallow draft, if we were planning on using pick 60, or he was available in the rookie draft, I'd snap him up in a second.
