I found the highlights video of Christensen and it says he is 190cm, is that just an error or do you think he'd actually be that tall? Just the way you guys described him I thought he was going to be around the 175cm mark :p

Sounds an interesting prospect though and I'm guessing we'd be looking at him for pick 60. Aish, Brown/Conlon, and someone like Christensen at 60 would be a pretty damn good draft.
What the hell? That's surely an error. Either that or I'm thinking of the complete wrong player.

like how bulldogs have highlights for Jarryd Roughead instead of Jordan

Has there been any rumours that we are interested in Dayle Garlett at all?

I think we have the the right people within our club to keep him on track.
For pick #60 it's a gamble worth taking..
No.

and who are you to say it's a gamble worth taking? The only ones who know that are the recruiters who are interviewing him.

I feel like 42 might be a bit early for both Brown & Chritensen, they both look like 50 - rookie picks to me.

I'm really hoping that we get a higher quality player at 42, any of Impey, JKH, Sicily, Miller, Wilson, Cutler or Templeton would be nice & I would not be surprised if a couple were still there at our pick.

As in for pick #60 in a shallow draft, it will be hard to find anyone who will be a very good player, let alone a potential Harley Bennell.
In the sense of his attitude: I don't know the extent of his problems and I don't claim to but if you give the guy one year, and he doesn't excel then what have you lost? Not too much..

I keep hearing the words "shallow draft", which could be interpreted a number of ways, one of which is that very little separates the players ranked between 20 and 50.

18 Recruiters interviewed him last season, and he didn't even get rookied. That's all that needs to be said.

I've said it about 50 times on this board and I'll say it again, there is a dead-set 0% chance we'll draft Dayle Garlett. Not only is it highly doubtful he'll be available at pick 60, but even if he was, he's exactly the type of player McCartney and the Recruiting Staff will not want to recruit. Never mind the off-field issues, he has virtually no work-rate on the field, and that just doesn't cut the mustard at this football club.

Surely one of these two has to slip to 42 - happy with either of them based on limited vision and descriptions

Gartlett was only doing was 70% of other draft hopefuls do, only difference was he was an idiot and posted it to his own Instagram/Facebook.

Agree.
It's a strange one, because SEN reported a few weeks ago that Dayle missed another an interview (forgot the club name) with one AFL club few weeks ago. This put the club off but has filtered through to other clubs too. They believe Dayle will definitely get drafted, but will probably drop late and won't be picked by a WA side. Surprising he missed the interview considering what happened with Essendon etc..
.

Taking Gartlett is a risk, but you have to take risks in this game. High risk, high reward.

Geelong took a risk keeping Stevie J, looked how that turned out. West Coast with Cousins/Gardiner/Fletcher worked out well for them (won them a flag) even though it ended roughly.

Of course there's the other side of things with players like Dan Conners, but I think it's worth it.

I think it was Port. I heard his manager or coach on the radio saying he was legitimately sick, but you'd think he'd need to be on his deathbed to miss a meeting with where he is coming from.
Not a good look.

Has to be more to it than this. Recruiters aren't stupid, they know what teenagers get up to.

With out trying to be racist, I think if Gartlett was a white kid from Toorak he'd be on an AFL list now.

Troy Taylor ended all hope of Aborigines with small off field problems getting picked up.

What a facepalm worthy comment.

Josh Simpson had a small off field problem, he still got selected in the first round.

Garlett skipped a training session to go drinking when Essendon handed him a lifeline last year. That's a pretty big bloody problem if you ask me.

Agreed. A 'white' footballer from Toorak who skips training with an AFL club to get on the piss would be given the flick too.

A 'white' footballer who takes photos of himself drinking and smoking and puts them on instagram would cop the same consequences.

Having a kid I wouldn't consider an off field problem. Not for a team from his home state anyway.

Anyway, from AFL players and draft hopefuls this year that I know, if Gartlett is doing worse than them off field I would be extremely surprised.

I'm not for or against drafting Garlett, but I highly doubt we do. On talent alone I would have taken him with pick 6 last year but it sounds like his problems run pretty deep. I mean the drugs and drinking are a problem but there are many young players that get away with this and eventually mature but its the lack of work ethic, desire, self-awareness and apathy that really concerns me. Its just up to what the recruiting staff think I guess, they have much more info than us.

Sam Landsberger just stated pretty emphatically that the dogs won't take Garlett on the HS live chat.

Went on to say we will get a kid called Jake Needham.
Anyone know anything about him?

All I can find are some underwhelming stats playing for Gawler Central in Colts.
Don't think he was even invited to the state screenings.

Odd thing for Landsberger to say, wouldn't think he'd be dishing up privileged info if he wanted to maintain good connections at the club. Maybe it is some kind of joke that I missed?

Or maybe Prudden v2.0....

All I know is that we needham.

I think a cat may of gotten out of the bag because I cant find any reference to him in any messages from Sammy on HS chat.....

Hi Sam, hearing that Dogs interested in Garlett. Do you think the Dogs are a chance and if so, which pick?
Dogs won't take Garlett.
