I think that KK would fit a role in our team that would make him one of our most dangerous players, he has all the ticks of becoming a superstar except for his inside game. Improve that and he could be absolutely anything.

If we think Bontempelli has the potential to be one of the best from this draft I hope they take the chance.

Ok ill stop harping on about him now.

Sure. Prescription drugs ;)

From Dr Pinkman or Dr White?

By the way, has anyone actually been to Adelaide lately? It completely sucks. Cooney has never had any interest whatsoever in going back. Won't even go back when he retires.

Polec wanted to go home, but Brisbane sucks as well, so he doesn't know any better.

Go-home factor holds no fears for me whatsoever with aish. Take him if he's there dalrymple

Yeah the SA go home factor has never really scared me at all. WA is always the one to watch out for

I think if you were building a case for KK over Aish it would be that he is a much more explosive athlete.

I'm not saying he'll get anywhere near this, but KK has more of a chance to be a Griffen/Cooney with his height and speed. Where Aish is a different sort of player. Both very much outside players at this stage but still very different.

I'd still probably go with Aish (because bolters scare me slightly and I don't know what Aish has done to make him slide from potential #1 pick other than having some shoulder issues which limited him) but I'm really OK with any of those top guys

JK sounds like he could be that lock down Morris type in theory but I'd be lying if I'd said I really watched him much.

Bontempelli is arguably the highest reward player in the draft.

He's not as fast as KK. He doesn't have as good a sidestep or leap. He is 3 cm taller I'll give you that, but if they both end up as midfielders in the long run what does it matter as they will both be above avg for their position. While Bontempelli is lovely long kick, I don't think he's got the same level of accuracy and bullet like penetration that KK exhibits. You might think Bontempelli has the potential to be a Key Fwd, I too think he does, but thats very speculative at the moment and doesn't distinguish him from other players. It's really hard to think of any player that have KK's potential combination of height, athleticism and skill.

I do still really like Bontempelli though don't get me wrong, I just think KK could be crazy good.

Bontempelli looks like an absolute jet.

I was told that Billings and Lennon are the two most ready to play AFL, and Billings is an absolute machine.

The one thing that concerns me about Aish is his ratio of contested to uncontested ball. Sounds very Cale Morton or Bryce Gibb-ish. Does anyone know what Rich and S Hill were like with their juniors stats?

I know it's cool to bash Bryce Gibbs these days, but he would compliment our team very very well. If that's aish's worst case scenario as a player, I'll take it.

Aish has been playing seniors (Norwood?). Only a kid but how did he go?

Earlier year I wanted Billings (was a standout at the carnival), this year I have wanted Scharenburg - has genuine star quality - supremely confident. But didn't expect (last year) that Aish might slip - Melb needed mids and he was everyone's top mid and clear number 2. Dom Sheed was the best player in this years champs until he got injured.

Had not heard of Bontempelli and could be anything - very difficult to play on but have to say at pick 4 I don't want to go looking for a speccy. And Taylor(? The little fella) tore some games apart.

I don't see us losing - these guys all have a good chance of adding something great. What I want is to better than everyone else and as good as those picked 2&3 - Boyd looks put of the box.

On this basis I think Aish or Sch look the best. Both are standouts have leadership in spades and flexible in positioning.

For pick 40 we are in lottery territory / best KPF available and if big enough to ruck occasionally then better,

Going by KK's highlights on the AFL website - looks like he is very balanced and has very elite skills. Although he was put in the 'Tall Defenders' list - can he play in the midfield at 190cm?

SA had some excellent inside midfielders in their side - no point having someone so classy on the outside replacing guys who were doing their job at the champs.

His highlights looked good but he always seemed to be a loose man in defense. He will have to be accountable at AFL level and i'd like to see more of him 1v1 which apparently he is not very good at

Yeah fair enough. Certainly did seem that way now that you've pointed it out.

I still have Aish miles ahead of everyone else. Don't like this crap about Macca not liking 'pure midfielders'

I think so too. Considering one of Kelly/Billings/Aish will be available at our pick i think we have to go with one of them. They are clearly currently the only elite talent (after Boyd) in the draft so i think anything else would be reaching. Sure KK, Bontempelli and others have massive potential and could become superstars, but i think a top 4 pick needs to be taken carefully. We cant lose with Kelly/Billings/Aish. Having said that i have faith in our recruiting team now after last year so i will back whoever we choose because if we pass on Aish there must be a very good reason to do so you would think

Would love to draft brothers. I'm a sentimentalist.
In the 2009 Draft, Essendon chose Anthony Long, and St. Kilda chose Nicholas Winmar. See how that worked out? Plus, our record with brothers is terrible: Sam Power, Patrick Bowden, Andrejs Everitt, Alan Jackovich.

Also, for those denouncing Bontempelli, keep in mind that there's a chance he could develop into a KPP at either end of the field due to his 192cm(and still possibly growing) height. Also, clubs aren't necessarily selecting players based on how well they play in the Championships, they're selecting players based on who they think is most likely to improve their respective team team the most. While say, a Matt Crouch might've performed better than Bontempelli throughout the season, there's absolutely no doubt Bontempelli will be the more sought after player because of all the unique attributes he possesses, and if developed right, could turn into an extremely damaging player.

As of now, I prefer Kolodjashnij because he just oozes class and is a safer pick, but it's a big stretch to say he has a higher ceiling than Bontempelli.

I thought the same thing, they really didn't paint him in the best light.
It was a bit the same with Templeton's highlights - almost as if the other Tassie boys were feeding them so that they would get noticed by recruiters.

I definitely like the sound of KK but I would have thought that Scharenberg with his leadership & consistency would have been a more Macca style pick as far as these bigger bodied kids go.

I don't mean so much Brothers of great players, I'm talking about taking two brothers in the same draft. Slightly different in my eyes. The Phoenix Suns just did it in the NBA. There's two Jack's at Sydney that go alright aren't there?

Also, a very interesting quote from JK:
"‘It was a bit different, but I was really happy for him as well, of course. The strangest thing was not having him there, because it was only two weeks but it was the longest we’ve been away from each other. I got used to it, but it was weird having no one to talk to.”
- Jake Kolodjashnij on his experiences whilst his brother Kade was away with the AFL-AIS Squad in Europe"

Interesting point. But he has been playing SANFL for 2 years, and he's 74 kg's. So he must be able to crack in a bit. You wouldn't want to bulk him up only to discover he's scared of the contest though.

Sorry to intrude but for what its worth by all accounts the Bulldogs have visited the Kolodjashnij family at least twice and are keen to secure both brothers in the up coming draft.

Not doubting we have visited the Koladjashnij family and have some interest in them, but if you can share, what is your source for your claim that we "... are keen to secure both brothers...."? That may well mean we would pass on Aish or Scharenberg, Kelly or Billings. Big call.
