Feel there is a strong chance GWS will go Sharenberg with pick 2
StKilda would then jump on Kelly
How do we split the love for Aish against Billings X factor?
Or do we just move to kolo..?

Yes have heard the same.....I think Kelly or Scharenberg will go to GWS and the poop is that the Saints are going pure mids with thier first 3 picks....so they will take Aish or Kelly most likely.

Kristian on Footy Tragic who does excellent write ups has just started his power rankings and there is some very interesting information there on Lewis Taylor. Very harsh on him. I rate Taylor higher than he does but the points he makes are all very valid, and many of his issues with Taylor I have also noticed. He weights those negatives more than most though, I would think. Regardless, the fact that his height is his only concern is a bit of a myth. Not that we are going to pick him anyway, but he has been brought up quite a bit in this thread.

thanks for the heads up...just read a bit of it. Taylor he thinks will go at around 42....

I like the logic here.

I agree with it except your assuming that Scharenberg has less upside based on the fact he has the mature body. That could be correct, but what if what we see of him at this stage is just the tip of the iceberg.

The reason I like him, is because I think he does have more upside to him, I don’t see him as a simply a solid, creative big bodied half back who might replace Morris, I see him as 190cm mid who can play back or forward (ala Stringer) in 3 to 4 years time. If the dogs don’t think he has that capability then I think we should pass.
I'm not meaning that Scharenberg doesn't have a higher ceiling just because of his size, but yeah our opinions on him are quite different. I see him as a very safe option, but I'm not convinced about where the improvement is going to come from. I think he'll definitely be a solid player at the least but I'm not sure I ever see him becoming elite like I do Aish.

Size definitely isn't the only problem but I still rate him very highly. The guys at Footy Tragic aren't the only ones who disagree. There's a discussion going on on the BF Phantom Draft thread about him now if you're interested.

Hopefully more people get on the Scharenberg bangwagon when his draft profile/interview is uploaded. He's still the man I want.

For those who have been talking about getting a Murphy replacement, check out Darcy Byrne-Jones' highlights on the AFL website. Closest thing I have seen in this crop.

Beautiful balance, quick stepper, good decision maker, even the way he moves...

And if Taylor is anywhere near our second pick I'll go mental.

i've really warmed to Scharenburg. Doesn't have a lot of flaws and i think i underrated the run he provides. A very good and close to complete footy player. Good feeling because that means i'm unlikely to be disappointed

I just worry where he plays. Too short for key position but runs and moves like a key position player. Is a strong mark and strong overall. Certainly would be a safe pick but as he seems a little more physically developed than most, I wonder whether he has as much development in him as others. Not sold

this summarises my knock on him too. I've watched back a couple games though and was more impressed with his speed and follow up running.

He's still probably my lowest seed of Kelly, Aish, Billing and KK but I don't think he'd be a disaster pick. I guess his upside is just whether he can play midfield

Dannnnnnn , I should not have got involved in the discussion , because I have never seen Aish play and he may very we'll be a gun , so I will bow to your opinions.
But if It turns out we end up with another Farren Ray or Sam Power I will go into a very deep depression

What makes you think that Macca would pick another Farren Ray or Sam Power? Don't think that's a risk to be honest.

Personally, there is something about Freeman that I really like but he is a real risk: how will his evasiveness and pace at junior level transfer to AFL. He is good inside and outside.
Aish and Kelly look pretty complete but I really believe there ceiling is lower than others
As for Billings he is as much a risk, if not more, as Freeman

The more I look at it, the more I lean towards Kolojazznee. He has special attributes, balance, leap, pace, evasiveness. Seems to be able to play anywhere. Also seems to have lots of time. A very natural athlete and that left foot is just exquisite. He is like a tall Robert Murphy who can play in the mid field and who accumulates possessions. SOLD

If that is the case then we would have to take Aish. I am still not sold off Scharenberg yet....see what the couple of weeks brings.

Good thats all I want to hear :)
You know I am still on medication after the Howard ( & Tutt ) draft !

I want to see your reaction when he gets picked up by Geelong at pick 41.
Guess we will have to settle for another slider in Crouch o.O

Just had a look and yes you spotted a Muph clone....the step and all....However couple of differences, he's just 180cm, Murph is 187cm and I saw the kid get tackled a couple of times....I don't think I have ever seen Murph tackled ;)

I think Whitten Oval would be burned down if we took Crouch to be honest.
Surely not for a pick on the 40's. He has no right slipping that far and is a top 15 pick IMO.

The reason the last few years we have stocked with inside mids is because this draft had many outside mids-I believe we where always looking at at kelly or Aish but believed he was not gettable.
Spoke to Aishs couch at norwood and he said the with no pre-season and injury's he was only 70% fit......

Have to take best available....He is the best -also on his pace he said he was better than average and could run all day the year before

PICK 4 -Aish

Pick 42-Dwayn Wilson

pick 60-A running h-f or h-b

There's a point where best available and needs are incommensurable and I'd suggest that Crouch is way past that point. I'm a big fan of Crouch and he'll be a player but not for us. We have limited list space and it's not the time to put another slow inside extractor on it. We have plenty of depth in that area and if we start ignoring our gaps to go best available with every single pick then we're going to have a big hole when we're trying to contend.

Regardless, I'd be very surprised if Crouch went anywhere close to 42.
