I'm surprised to read about how much Aish's stocks have fallen. For at least all of last year we was about a lock at 1 or 2, now there's a chance he will go somewhere in between 5-10.

it's funny that his stocks have fallen. he was considered a lock at #2 all year until the dees traded it to GWS.

Really? He's been down at the club a few times recently (last month or so)

Was that him with Patton then?

No idea if Patton was true or not but Bont was there for sure (as were a couple of potential draftees mind you) I have no idea who we are interested in though

4. Western Bulldogs
James Aish | Norwood | 184cm | 75kg.
Touted as a top-three lock pre-season, Aish could well fall to Gold Coast at pick 5, or even further, but talk is that the Dogs – who have drafted a host of inside ‘grunters’ in previous years, will find it hard pressed to pass up a classy outside ball user of his impeccable bloodlines.

Also I thought this was interesting

9. Melbourne
Matthew Scharenberg | Glenelg | 190cm | 89kg.

Considered a top five lock mid year, the rangy utility slips to Melbourne due to the rise of Kolodjashnij and the Lions punt on McCarthy. Paul Roos has added a fair amount of size and depth to the Dees midfield brigade via trades and free agency, and can do with boosting the back half. Scharenberg has raised a few ‘go home’ concerns with clubs during interviews (which may be a strong reason for Brisbane to pass), but he is amazing value here for the Dees, as he could also develop into another big-bodied midfieder.

I thought Aish was the one with the go home concerns....

That is interesting. There is still no consistency in anything i am hearing in various phantom drafts/ratings. About the only thing that is consistent is Boyd at 1. Still not convinced in anything but that at the moment

Hell! SEN have Jake Kolo at 20
at this rate he will jump past Boyd before the Draft
2 weeks ago, most Mocks had him at 50-60

Cutler at 14? Merrett at 15? Jake Kolodjashnij at 20???

By no means am I saying take this as gospel some of the selections as indicated above certainly raise a few eyebrows BUT I thought the line Scharenberg has raised a few ‘go home’ concerns with clubs during interviews was very interesting because I haven't heard anything like that in regards to Berger probably the opposite..

This go home factor seems to have gained momentum because of GWS - which was inevitable with so many high draft picks and the fall out at Brisbane following Voss's removal. I honestly, do not see how it applies to Melbourne clubs. Particularly, kids from Adelaide who routinely move to Melbourne when they turn 18 anyway. Not to mention the number of feral SA supporters who seem to have no issue coming to Melbourne every fortnight to watch their team.

I look at Aish and I see Farren Ray
Care to elaborate?
I don't think anyone can know how a player will turn out

Otherwise Dahlhaus would of definitely been taken in the National Draft
& all those other clubs who didn't see it with him, should be kicking themselves ;)

That is the stupidest comparison I've ever seen. The major weakness of Farren Ray's game is composure and decision making. You'll never see a more composed player than James Aish.

As a Tutt defender I will play no part in his ridicule.

I'm a Tutt defender too! :D

How about this then: I see Tom Boyd as a Christian Howard sort of player.

I'm a Tutt defender to

**** kids are soft these days, I'd live in Afghanistan if it gave me the chance to play AFL

I don't think the AFL expansion is planning on going that far, let's hope it's a while away because without doubt we'd end up playing home games in Pakistan against the Afgan team....just our luck.

Who knows if Essendons situation gets any worse they might have to, Afghan Bombers has a nice ring to it :p

I think this was raised somewhere else....but Ray was never talked about in the same terms as Aish has been, I recall Ray being seen as having great endurance...but not the silky skills Aish has. When I think of Aish I do think of Gibbs, hightly rated, slightish build, sublime skills, famous Sth Australian footy family.

....Gibbs is a good player....but has so far not really stamped himself as midfielder....Bit Like Delidio. Both great off half back. Which is ok....both good players....and if Aish is that type we will have done ok. I reckon he might be a fraction better.

Yep agree....there is always this talk.....We have 2 very highly rated south australians in our team....Cooney and Griff and despite the opportunity to have gone home before now they remain in Melbourne.

I think it's always a possibility, and perhaps in a line ball decision you may factor it in, but if the player is clear cut the best, you have to back your system to retain these guys.....Brisbane and GWS perhaps have some issues at present that make it far more important concideration for them.

Other than trying to move back in 2 years which is not certain.....if what they say is true with Scharenberg, then it's working well for him....he probabaly ends up at the Dees...or some other Melbourne based club come this draft anyway.
