The whole height thing is overrated. Usually the taller players are less mobile, but better in the air. Whilst vice versa for the smaller players.
It is marking around the ground that is one of our smaller issues. Just about every single game the last two to three years we have been behind on the stats sheets in terms of total marks in the game, especially up front. Being a taller player, assuming they are also good on the lead, will help give that individual a slight advantage in one on one situations, assuming both players strengths and techniques are the same. Unless we move the ball precisely and fast every game, it is a lot harder to control the tempo of the game. If we get a mark anywhere on the ground, it gives us time to find space and set something up. Rather than be tackled to the ground, trying to play keepers off with handballs in circles, and turning it over all the time.
Whilst there are many more attributes that are more important and needed to be weighed up as a whole from players. Having a little extra height does help in its own ways.

All I said in the first section is that Ossies comment reminds me of a player overseas in a different sport, who is apparently not giving it his all and it is well documented and questioned by many, including faking injuries. He is not altering his draft position, but merely trying to hold it. He is doing it for the money, not to avoid a crap team. Was not using it in comparison to anything or anyone. It was its own separate comment about something unrelated
