I am more curious about what quality players Dalrymple expects to get at our last two picks before promoting Goodes.....Dwayne Wilson, Mitch Harvey, Darcy Lang, Kanye Turner
Brett Anderson even had Jonathon Marsh getting to us at 42, now that would be an interesting first two players

I think Bontempelli seems like a number of different players, Pendlebry wasn't one I really ever thought he looked like

It would be pretty sweet to get Marsh. I'd expect one of the other 4 to survive to 60 as well.

I had The first two, then Tom Boyd. Pick 1 was Marcus Bontempelli.

EDIT: The draft machine is really playing up. Now Boyd for me is going to Richmond at 66 and we are picking up Mitch Thorp at 4.

My source isn't overly convinced we will be going with Bontempelli either. He said he wouldn't be at all surprised if Aish's name is called out. Said Scharenberg appears to be a bit of a dark horse as is Billings.

No matter what happens it's going to be pretty exciting to see what happens.

Bonts appears likely choice. And the more I think about it, the more I understand it. I was happy with Aish and we still might get him.
But I really think Macca is picking players who can play multiple positions. With that interchange cap of 80, you need players who can rest forward. If you have a midfielder who is 194 cm's who can rest forward and damage you on the scoreboard, well that is a great pick. Yes he isn't as proven in the younger leagues as others but did start having a great second half of the year by reports.
But if we get him, have a look at the players that will be rotating through midfield and forward and vice versa.
Stringer, Grant, Crameri, Higgins, Hunter, Dahl, Dicko, Griff, Stevens, Bonts, murphy (will probably spend time in back, mid and forward) and you can throw in Campbell as well as he will go into the ruck.

That is a pretty versatile group.
Oviouslsly Bonts could be a Everitt or a Brennan but Bonts appears to have a better work ethic than Brennan.
He could be more like a Pavlich when he played up the ground or even Richo in 2008 when he got 3rd in the Brownlow.

Oviously a player could be anything. Normally I would be stressing that we chose a unknown at pick 4, but for some reason I have more faith in the bulldogs recruiting that I use to.

No, Nelly Tuggin has been compared to a young Jon Dorotich.

Dwayne Wilson.

Christian Salem is dark (not sure if Aboriginal) and so is Jarman Impey. Not sure about those two but Wilson definitely is.

Billings has been described as playing like Stevie J / Chad Wingard. major hurt factor. Quick. good mark. clever player - his deficiencies are fitness and defensive attitude which is nothing that can't be worked on.

I think it's important to remember that talent is only part of the equation.
Plenty of highly rated draftees have thought they could get by on talent alone & been quickly surpassed by guys will do whatever it takes to become an AFL player.

Bonts does seem like a guy who will work his butt of under Macca.
That doesn't really seem like a high risk selection to me.

My understanding is that both the South aussie boys are the ultimate pros and work their asses off. Passing on them for bontempelli on account of work ethic or the "good bloke" test is absolute bollocks I'm afraid.
