Sheed may well do a Chad Wingard. Should be taken near the top of the pile, but may slide out of the top 5 due to focus and too much emphasis put on his limited shortcomings as a player, while mostly overlooking the fact that he's a gun footballer.

I think something that we are really missing in our midfield at the moment is footy smarts. I am sick to death of seeing our mids just grab the ball and hack it forward out of a pack. If sheed has the temperament and poise of a pendlebury, and is able to make good split second decisions whilst dancing around the opposition players then i am all for it.

The way we have drafted recently would suggest that if it comes down to Sheed, Freeman or Bontempelli, regardless of potential upside they will go with sheed as he is west australian. The more i hear about freeman the more attract a proposition he becomes but unless Sheed is gone by pick 6 i can't see him on our list next year unfortunately.

Agree 100% ...i have been reading some of the write ups for Sheed and some of his strengths was that he could read the ruckmans tap perfectly and always disposed of the ball from the center to advantage and not doing a Priddis and slamming it on the boot. People are obsessing over Height and pace but footy smarts are 100% must over pace or a big bodied mid. If we want a big bodied mid we could always draft with a later pick. As for speed for could always draft Garlett with a 2nd round pick to compliment a player like Sheed.

Other attributes i like are that he is able to cover the ground with his endurance and he also likes to kick goals up forward ( something Priddis rarely does). He also can beat a tag.

Freeman does sound impressive but his weakness is that he doesn't have very good disposal and does tend to slam it on the boot like a few of our mids seem to do.

Gaff Sheed Wellingham

Ruck: Nic Nat , Shuey, Scooter

Bench: Masten ( HHF - I liked him there last year and thought he was one of best at linking play from center to forward)

Depth - Dalziel, Priddis, Hutchings, Rosa, Shep

Now already that setup looks better than what we have been producing all year.

I find players like pendles seem to have all the time in the world to make the right decision, even though he is only of average pace. His poise and understanding of the game are far more valuable than sheer speed alone.

being an elite basketballer would have been a big reason for that, his spatial awareness would be far superior to guys that only played footy.

To be honest I would be stoked with either Sheed or Freeman with our first pick, but no one else. If we dont get Freeman in the draft we should throw alot of money at Richmond free agent Matt White, super fast and a very similar player to Freeman

I saw a video somewhere on here that said sheed also had a basketball background, which is part of the reason why i think he might be the way to go.

Also I cant see the big deal about Bontempelli sure he is a good prospect but he has nothing in Sheed or Freeman

Not necessarily a bad thing

Wouldn't mind taking a gamble on someone like him if we could trade into the later stages of the first round, and if he is not available we could always grab someone like acres.
If rosa was serious about leaving I would propose the following:

Rosa + 6 to gws

For

10 + 20

Although Sheed may have average athletic qualities, you can't put a price on decision making. Would not be disappointed with him. Having said that, I do love the prospect of getting dynamic and tall players like Bontempelli or Freeman. Really want Acres!! Don't know much about Wilson but I've seen him quite high in some phantoms. Interesting, Billings and Kelly may be available at our pick, but they are probably too small given our current mids.

Looking forward to the draft, looks like a midfielders draft which is exactly what we need. We must nail it. Not interested in trading away our picks this year.

Maybe we could trade Rosa and pick 24 to Brisbane for pick 7 and we could get both Sheed and Freeman

I like him too, Hasn't really been mentioned at all on this board but I think he will be a jet.
I do like the look of billings but I think he is a little small considering west coasts needs for strong fast mids

I don't think brisbane would be too keen on that tbh :( would be amazing to have picks 6 and 7 in this draft though by the sounds.

Billings is 184cm. That is not bad. Freeman is 181 and Sheed 183.

Billings has a lot of attributes which would make him a very good midfielder, he just needs to build a bigger tank. I've seen comparisons from Stevie J to Bartel.

In terms of Class I think only Aish can rival him.

Oh ok I thought he was really small and skinny I may have him confused with someone else though
