Do you mean Aaron Christensen the shorty or the ginger? (You probably mean shorty being classed as a forward)About a week to go now and I'm most looking forward to the draft, even if the Ashes start on the same day.
PICK 11: I want a mid here and preferably best available which i think is Nathan Freeman. If not than one of Marcus Bontempelli, Dom Sheed, Blake Acres or Christian Salem.
PICK 31: I'd love James Sicily here. If not one of of James Tsitas, Riley Knight/ Nathan Bourke, Jarad Jansen, Dayle Garlett or Nick Robertson.
PICK 43 and PICK 49: Would love to get a mature ager with one of these picks. Either Chris Cain or Kane Lambert at 43 and Charlie Cameron/ Dwayne Wilson at 49
It's a frought with danger picking potentially 4 interstaters but the upside of picking Freeman, Sicily and Cain/ Lambert in particular is huge
PALYERS I'D LOOK AT IN ROOKIE DRAFT
DEFENDERS: Brenden Abbott, Nathan Drummond**
TALL DEFENDERS: Rowen Powell, Kory Beard, James Toohey
MIDFIELDERS: Campbell Combe, Jake Gresier, Ben Cavarra
FORWARDS: Ian Richardson, Aaron Christensen**, Willy Rioli
Drummond and Christensen would be great to get in the rookie but they may go late in the national instead. Also depends on what happens with Murray Newman. As long as he is still available to play I think he'll be kept on the senior list, Simpson seems keen to start with a clean slate there

The ginger looks a likely type for mine...A little Embleyesque.
Brenden Abbott is very raw but I really like his type...Gets my knickers a little wet
Ben Cavarra was one that I got very close to drafting...The only thing that worries me is his size otherwise he has the goods.
I can't help but think of a little West Perth player that almost could.
I'm probably the only one but I'd have Joel Tippett in my list of tall defenders too.
A far, far better player than in 2011.
Pick 11 Sheed is a no brainer pure mid can play inside and out . Simpson will tidy his disposal and turn him into a Sam Mitchell type mid
Pick 31 Marsh . Seen a lot of mock drafts where Marsh is still around at 31 . He is lightening fast but undersized as a KPF but perfect as a HFF or winger were he played as a junior . This is the type of risk/reward player we need . Skirting packs bursting away using his lightning pace to burn off opponents . Then if he can bulk up played as big bodied inside mid with pace
Pick 43 Robertson . HBF to replace waters when his body fails him. Roberson has had some shoulder injuries from backing into packs . Tough , very good 1on1 , elite endurance , line breaking runs , can rotate through midfield with ease .
Pick 49 Wilson . Small quick outside mid with very polished skills can go Fwd and kick a goal
Pick 49 Shanahan great mid at colts level this year may need time to develop his body in wafl . Has very good skills . Maybe a rookie selection

I don't think he is as one sided as gaff but all afl recruits should be working on there non preferred ! I was using Mitchell as and example for size pace and being a left footer . If sheed can get half as good as Mitchell on his right I would be happy ! Unless we don't draft him then I hope he is a one footed slow hackI was under the impression Sheed was one-sided? Will need to work on his right to be a Mitchell type.

I am getting a little bemused by the term 'pure' midfielder. What does it even mean? And anyway, wouldn't Simpson's quest for versatility meant that being a 'pure' midfielder isn't as important as people are making it out to be?
