Can't help but feel very pleased with what we've done this evening. Despite knowing next to nothing of the players and their on-field exploits, it looks as though we went in with the aim of bringing in 3 high quality individuals and we've achieved exactly that.

Have you seen any of their highlights J?
Giles looks like he could be anything.
A 195cm KPP who has agility and can run like a midfielder. WHOA!!!!

Have seen highlights but I'm always wary of reading too much into them. Have to take them for what they are and try not get too excited by them.

Giles does look exceptionally athletic and capable of playing in a number of positions. Played down back this year but has previously played forward, and can also push up the ground. Mick loves his players to be flexible and capable of playing various positions on any given day and the selection of Giles reaffirms that. Certainly plenty to work with and will be interesting to track his development.

What is the logic with passing on #69 and wait for rookies draft?
Isn't it better to use #69, logically its like an early rookie selection.
Is it purely $$$

Did any support Carlton as a kid?

No projects, no hybrids, no short people, no malnourished tyes. Good start.

Holman was a Richmond supporter up until a few hours ago.
Reckon Cripps & Giles followed one of the local teams.

Geelong supporter.

Not too sure about Cripps, maybe West Coast.

In Cripps, there is a clear football bloodline. Cripps’s father Brad is a first cousin of West Coast’s dual premiership wingman the late Chris Mainwaring (who reigned supreme through the Michael Malthouse years) and his third cousin is the former St Kilda (now Eagles) half-forward Jamie Cripps.

Now, at Carlton, Cripps has a rare chance to make his own indelible mark, as the club closes in on the 150thanniversary of its founding.
“I’ve followed the AFL pretty closely and I know that Carlton has such a proud tradition and history,” he said.
“I have always liked the Blues and I’m just so rapt to be given an opportunity at one of the League’s biggest clubs.”

When describing Giles, Rogers said he plays like Brian Lake, who uses his body well.

Gives us more flexibility because 1) only have to give them a 1 year contract, 2) less salary and 3) only half their salary goes int he cap.

I'd say West Coast as well, with his dad's cousin being a champion of the club, so basically his uncle, played for the eagles and now his third cousin too.
However after 9 o'clock tonight all three became Carlton supporters.
I especially like the last part of that article where Cripps stated that he feels like a leader, just wants to come and win the respect of his teammates, which I reckon is just fantastic and I like an ambitious kid, not arrogant, just confident.

There's still the rookie draft. ;) I'd expect to see half of these guys rookied based on upside:

Bourke, Cavarra, Cox, Milham (surely? :p ), Pitt, Reynolds, Scott, Tickner, Wasley-Black

(Posted a few pages back the players I'd actually target as a priority)

Thomas with a bad ankle or Sharenberg with two bad feet?

I guess MS slid to pick six because other clubs didn't like the medicals on the sesamoid bones in both feet. The others doctors have to be wrong. Just like Carlton's medical on Thomas.

Poor Lennon probably use to love Carlton v Richmond games. But they'll probably just give him nightmares from now on.
