I have been wondering why we haven't had any father sons in a while, I cant even remember one after Whitnall. You would have thought between our golden generation of the 80s and 90s that they would have produced at least a few decent young lads with football ability.

Blackwell, Buckley....there haven't been many but we have had some. We didn't pursue Sheldon, Johnston or Williams....

Carlton’s National Recruiting Manager Shane Rogers says Cripps has already been nicknamed “The Extractor”.

“That’s what we’ve called him all year, he’s a ball Extractor,” Rogers said.

Just realised Jared Waite was Father son.. Yeah I remembered Buckley, but meant players that have come on.. Its not quite Scarlett, Ablett, Hawkins level, even Cloke & Shaw or Watson, Fletcher, Daniher and now the Bulldogs with Liberatore & Wallis.

Rookie draft is on Wedesday next week.
The Cripps whispers I would have thought would have come from outside the club.
It's hard to hide when our recruiters make the trip from Melbourne to Geraldton a couple of weeks ago to see him.

Reckon Thorpedo or the Houligan will be rookied as well as a project ruck like Darcy Cameron or Cameron Conlon and to top it off, Kane Lambert gets a go.

Difficult to say. I found Rogers' assessment fairly bleak, in that he only rated half a dozen talls (Giles included) - thus they were most likely gone by pick 51. As if to say, we failed to get a KPF during trade period and at the draft, so we'll try again next year.

I do hope he seeks out more than the usual b-grade midfielder or flanker at least tries to draft a couple of players over 188cm!

Generally a good result for a us. A big bodied mid, a mobile swing man and another midfield/winger. As mentioned previously I think if we rookie a ruck and another kpp, throw in a another mid (if we have room) and we have replaced most of what we lost and improved the list as a whole.

I did find it odd that cricketer Simon Katich is a staff member of the GWS.
